Chapter 322 - 260: Charging into the Mountain

The Demon Kings gathered around him heard these words and showed excited expressions.

"Roar roar, it should have been like this long ago, my name as Bashan Tiger must echo throughout the Demon Clan!" Bashan Tiger roared with great momentum.

The surrounding monsters all looked at him with smiles, and Lin Fang also laughed and said, "Good, whether we can unite the Demon Clan rests on our Bashan Tiger!"

Bashan Tiger was not modest, holding his head high, with a somewhat contemptuous air.

The people around him smiled wryly, except Yi Hailong, who covered his face, wishing he didn’t know this guy.

"Are there any worthy Demon Kings nearby who could be recruited?" Lin Fang asked with a smile.

"The Ghost Spider from Beiliang Mountain is indeed worth recruiting. He’s strong and has a proud disposition, never bullying the weak," said Wolf King, who had already made thorough preparations.

To avoid repeating past mistakes, this time Lin Fang and Feng Jiu divided into two groups to look for worthy individuals within the Demon Clan to recruit, attempting to build a relatively solid group, unlike the former Demon Court, which was easily infiltrated because it was held together by force alone.

As Lin Fang’s strategist, even though Wolf King knew he was not as clever as a Demon Master, he still had a heart unwilling to show weakness, which is why his grasp of intelligence was very detailed. Now, with just a question from Lin Fang, he could recite extensive details about the other party.

"Ghost Spider, by this name, is he a Butterfly Figure?" Lin Fang asked with a smile, finding his work much easier with such a diligent subordinate like Wolf King.

"Yes, the Ghost Spider is a unique race to Luzhou in the North, named for the ghost-like patterns on their backs. There are many in their race who have become monsters, but only this one from Beiliang Mountain has made a name for himself," Wolf King said with a smile as he recounted the intelligence on Ghost Spider to Lin Fang.

"Then let’s go for him. Besides, our rule is to prefer scarcity over mediocrity. If his conduct is poor, there’s no need to hold back. After all, we have our own little world, and in not too much time, the monsters inside will gradually grow," Lin Fang said with a smile.

This time he was determined to take the route of elite troops, for quality not quantity, especially in this chaotic age, which might be an unprecedented upheaval in millions of years, where any flaw could become a fatal shortcoming.

"Don’t worry, my lord. Although Ghost Spider is naturally proud, he is not a cruel creature, more like a reclusive cultivator. However, he has always revered the strong, and if my lord does not demonstrate irresistible strength, I fear he might not agree," Wolf King said.

"That will be my affair!"

As they conversed, a tall mountain appeared before them, its peaks like a sword thrusting into the sky, cliffs steep and craggy, lush with vegetation and towering trees, cranes dancing through the air, and tiger footsteps somewhere within the forest.

"What a perilous peak. Beiliang Mountain does look treacherous. I had not expected anyone to choose this place as their domain," Lin Fang mused to himself.

Such terrains are too rugged, hence seldom trodden by monsters since once animals evolve into monsters and gain intelligence, survival becomes their prime imperative. They often leave such places behind, driven by an instinctive yearning for prosperity.

Choosing this place as one’s stronghold could only mean that Ghost Spider was someone who enjoyed peace and quiet.

The grand procession arrived at Beiliang Mountain, and naturally, this commotion caught the attention of the mountain’s dweller, Ghost Spider.

Halfway up the mountain, there was a small stone platform with a wooden temple placed upon it, its age indeterminate but the wood looked very old.

Inside the temple, no divine spirits were enshrined, but instead, a treasured sword was thrust into the altar, its blade shimmering with a cold light.

Before the altar stood a tall man, who, at the moment, sat cross-legged on a cushion, eyes closed in meditation, enveloped in a formidable aura.

Suddenly, the man’s eyes snapped open with a fleeting glint of sharpness.

"It seems we have unkind visitors, go check it out!" the man said softly.

At the doorway, two little monsters suddenly appeared, their faces covered with pale masks, seemingly etched with mysterious runes.

"Orders received. If they force their way in, may we kill them?" the two asked.

"Haha, as you wish!" the man said with a laugh.

No sooner had he spoken than the two little monsters vanished within the temple, leaving the man sitting alone with his sword.

Lin Fang and his companions made their way up the mountain slowly. They didn’t rely on mana to storm up, considering the purpose of their journey was to recruit the Ghost Spider. Forcing their way could have led to a fight to the death.

The Beiliang Mountain, although perilous, showcased unexpectedly beautiful scenery, with Spirit Grass and wildflowers everywhere, adding a bit of charm to the journey.

Lin Fang and the others strolled through the mountain, appearing relaxed, as if they were simply on an outing. The steep paths were as flat as plains beneath their feet.

Midway through their ascent, a noise seemed to ripple through the air. Bashan Tiger and Yi Hailong, leading the way, leaped up, their weapons sweeping through the air and intercepting two flying darts, pinning them to the ground with a cold gleam.

"Halt, intruders!" came two voices, young yet authoritative.

Bashan Tiger and Yi Hailong landed and shouted back right away, "Who’s the rogue daring enough to attack us!"

Then they saw the two masked monsters standing atop a large tree. The white masks were inscribed with mysterious runes, adding to their enigmatic presence. Their eyes were firmly fixed on the people below, displaying caution and assessment.

"You’ve brazenly trespassed into our Beiliang Mountain and even dare to call us rogues!"

On hearing this, Bashan Tiger curled his lips and said, "Since when did Beiliang Mountain become your private property? We will enter as we please. What can you do about it!"

His remarks caught the other side off guard, since the monsters within a thousand miles all knew of the Ghost Spider’s reputation. Usually, even those who trespassed would feel somewhat intimidated and reluctant to talk back when scolded.

Bashan Tiger wasn’t the type to simply shut up; he’d talk back with intent to choke his opponent with words.

"How dare you! Seeking death, are you? Disturbing our master’s spiritual practice, we shall not let this end amicably."

"Oh please, bring it on, who’s afraid? If you’re capable, let’s have a match, stop spouting nonsense!" Bashan Tiger’s mouth spared no one.

"Since you seek death, I shall oblige you!"

The two on the tree leaped down and engaged in battle with Bashan Tiger and Yi Hailong. Lin Fang and the rest watched the fight unfold with keen interest.

"Haha, this youngster is not half bad; Bashan Tiger might have underestimated him," said Tiger King with a chuckle.

Being of the Demon King race themselves, they knew Bashan Tiger’s strength and techniques all too well, but the two opponents had every move and posture well crafted, clearly the work of an expert’s instruction.
