Chapter 1343 1343: 1343 Divine Game: Graveyard of Bones 65
At the end of the Star Bridge stood two taverns with completely different styles. They were less than ten meters apart, yet their entrances faced opposite directions. One faced left, the other right. Their back doors were sealed shut. From a distance, they looked like two people who had argued and turned their backs on each other.
Rita piloted her tiny "children's boat" in the night sky above them. She did not rush in.
Nivalis, squeezed into the co-pilot seat, whispered, "Which one are you going to?"
It was their first time here, but both of them knew about the divide between gods and demons. The split was so severe that it formed two factions. Naturally, the two taverns below belonged to different sides.
From the outside, there was no clear way to tell which was which. Both were distinctive. Both occupied roughly the same space.
Since the King had not specified which tavern to target, Rita decided to choose the one with fewer people.
She gripped the helm and moved in carefully. Hunting mode prevented detection, but the King had warned her:
"Do not move too fast. Even if you cannot be seen, you will still alert your prey."
The definition of "too fast" was very clear.
"Anything above one meter per second is fast."
At first, Rita thought one hour would be more than enough. After hearing that, she was no longer so confident.
She circled in the air and checked the tavern on the left first.
It was nearly full. Through the window, she spotted the Captain and the Drummer. This was the gods' tavern.
After a brief hesitation, she turned toward the other one.
No matter how stubborn she acted, she still knew the difference between good and bad. Deceitful Bloom and Foolishness might tease her, but among all the Starsea gods, those two were the ones she trusted the most.
The small boat drifted slowly above the Demon Tavern and began its descent.
As she approached the window, she saw plants arranged along the sill. Voices drifted out from inside.
"I wonder how many replacement slots there will be this year…"
"Given the situation, Deceitful Bloom and Foolishness will probably get priority again."
"Well, they like playing with players the most."
"Do they? In the last two eras, they barely interacted with players. Still got chosen in the end."
"Ugh. Everyone calls them teacher, but when it comes to replacement, they just pick whoever looks strongest."
"What else would they do?"
The topic drifted further and further.
After Quiet Mountain formed a ten-man squad, Starsea quickly regrouped.
Cinders and Lightchaser took the lead.
One could rewind a player to the beginning of their story. The other could turn the impossible into possible.
Cinders' ability, Wordless, was less about returning players to childhood and more about sending them back to the earliest point they could remember. For Quiet Mountain players, that meant the moment they first arrived and awakened their divine talents.
Lightchaser directly copied Rita's Save and Load ability using his divine talent. He borrowed her saved data and force-loaded Quiet Mountain players.
Add in Mistblade's top-tier single-target skill Prisoner Warden, Maple Syrup's versatile Four Seasons, Cicada's summoning-style Beacon, and JE's domain skill Oasis.
Starsea's team was far stronger now. They were no longer the group that had been crushed in Quiet Mountain.
But Quiet Mountain was just as strong.
QM Mistblade's Fallen focused on mental control. Fallen Dark Will could split off a shadow clone with identical stats and abilities.
QM Maple Syrup's Decay could disable magical items and break down skills. Decay Rebirth could temporarily strip sealed items of their abilities.
QM Frenzied Shark's Coffin could exile players into another dimension. Coffin Open could summon the dead to fight for him.
QM Mojie's Tide could copy abilities during its rise and fall. By locking one point of soul fire, he could store them indefinitely.
Most importantly, QM Rita had learned a new trick.
She started using the shameless tactic of "new setting, fatal weaknesses glow."
The fight went back and forth.
Deceitful Bloom set down her flower tea. She was about to leave. The new petals she collected needed to be transplanted.
She turned to say a quick goodbye, but paused.
Her fingers hovered above the cup, then tapped lightly against the rim.
Her gaze lingered on the plants by the window.
A black ring had appeared on her right index finger. A thread of wine-red flowed within it. Simple, elegant, yet striking against the dark base.
Still nothing visible.
Was she imagining it?
A faint glow of Flower of Deceit appeared in her red eyes. The flower bloomed slowly.
Still nothing.
But the more it revealed nothing, the less willing she was to ignore that fleeting anomaly.
Stacking artifact effects with a divine technique, she burned a few points of soul fire.
This time, she saw it.
She lowered her gaze slightly, observing only from the corner of her eye.
A tiny boat, about the size of a cat, was descending toward the windowsill at an extremely slow pace.
A white flag fluttered at the stern. On it was a golden outline of a cat's head. A white petal with a red tip rested on its left ear like a hairpin. The cat wore a crooked, mischievous grin.
On the boat sat a palm-sized hairless cat and a very familiar small dragon.
The cat was focused on steering. Its gaze swept across the tavern before settling on her and Foolishness.
With her enhanced perception, Deceitful Bloom could even hear their conversation.
The hairless cat said, "I knew they had a place to hang out."
The dragon replied, "Back when you were in class, B80 and I tried to follow Foolishness here. She shook us off."
"No problem. When we retire, we'll come here to drink."
"Uh… maybe not. Deceitful Bloom and Foolishness look like big shots. They even taught you. If they get drunk, you might have to sail them home."
The hairless cat sounded calm. "Do I also have to pour their drinks?"
The dragon gasped. "You figured that out too?"
The cat snapped, "...Can you stop hanging out with Shadow.Q so much? In chaotic Starsea, we don't care about seniority or age. We only respect strength!"
The dragon went quiet.
The hairless cat: "......"
Even without fur, it looked furious. Its skin had practically puffed up.
