Chapter 1373 1373: 1373 Brilliant Imagination
Rita didn't rush to deal with the other timelines. She decided to first finish recording all the history she had stored. Maybe once that was done, the platinum-colored World Sigh in her mind would undergo a qualitative transformation.
As for the lack of time, she could only exploit it by continuously reading and rewinding timelines. Her own file was constantly being saved, but every three Starsea days she would read it and pull time backward.
Rita leveraged her godly abilities to artificially create a time loop. Combined with [Waste Guide] and her time-stop skills, she finally understood what her old teachers had said back in school: "If you want to learn something, how could you possibly have no time?"
Even though she later discovered the limit—only ten time stops per Starsea day—this was more than enough.
Thinking of the Quiet Mountain players who occasionally sneaked over to watch, Rita later made it so that when she stopped time, all Starsea players and gods on Cat's Ideal were also pulled into the pause. Everyone could improve together.
The only minor hassle was that when she rewound the timelines, she needed to save the file for each player and god. Once the timeline returned to the earlier point, she would read each file in turn, effectively returning everyone to that same time node.
She didn't lack soul fire. This method also helped her further refine and master her godly abilities.
This was a peaceful, almost fairy-tale-like stretch of time, reminiscent of Divine Instruction… no, of Binast.
The Cat's Ideal had become a school. Each player could find a teacher they were interested in, and every teacher was generous and knowledgeable. Even Nivalis and B80 had found teachers willing to instruct them.
The ship was divided into different areas. Rooms became classrooms. The decks were arranged with battle zones for training. Even the nearby waters were organized in agreement by everyone on board.
For these cozy arrangements, Rita even had to save her file again.
Sometimes, when she grew tired of writing, she would go downstairs for food. Watching players walking in pairs across the ship gave her a surreal dreamlike feeling.
Quex hadn't seen rain for a long time. She liked to play with Smoke Tune and Fat Goose. Occasionally, they would go to Quiet Mountain's main city to gather materials, riding their motorcycles when class wasn't in session.
Maple Syrup and Pine Bloom paired up. Wither spent most of the time alone, buried in books.
As for Bone Shade? Bone Shade didn't come. When leaders descended on BS during the battle, Rita hadn't let them board.
NightFury, Guava, and Orange-White—three beings stacked together still less than 1.5 meters—naturally blended in.
Prayer and Frenzied Shark bonded over their shared eccentricities, linking arms. Rita once overheard them exchanging haircare tips. Smoke Tune had told her that Sharkfin Clan and Vineborne had always been at odds, thinking the other's farming techniques inferior, and that they should have gone to grow potatoes earlier.
Mistblade and Cinders enjoyed attending cultural lessons with Foolishness.
JE and Autumn Deer often rode each other across the ship, zipping around.
Cicada clung to Deceitful Bloom like a shadow. Crab, for reasons unknown, also followed Deceitful Bloom. He entrusted Sea Pony to Nivalis—something that worried Rita greatly.
Lightchaser was more troublesome. No god wanted to teach her—not because they held grudges, but because they didn't know how to instruct Lynx Duke's successor without overstepping boundaries. It would have been disrespectful to Lynx Duke.
Time-stop couldn't be used in Graveyard of Bones. Rita had to wait for Lynx Duke to awaken, personally sending Lightchaser to learn enough to digest, then bring her back—just like many years ago, when Lightchaser had delivered her to school by motorcycle.
Describing this, Lightchaser gave her a hard bop on the back of the head.
After sending Lightchaser to Lynx Duke once more, Rita was about to leave when Lightchaser called out, asking, "Have you read my fairy tale story?"
Her expression was calm, casual, unreadable.
Rita smiled. "Brilliant Imagination?"
"Yes."
"Then I have."
"Oh..."
Watching Lightchaser walk toward Lynx Duke by the tree, Rita called out, "That was the most beautiful fairy tale I've ever read."
Lightchaser waved her hand over her shoulder without turning. "Shut up."
Brilliant Imagination. Indeed, Lightchaser's imagination was dazzling.
Rita didn't know if Lynx Duke had tricked her, or used some method, or if something had been left out of the story. But Lightchaser's tale clearly spanned far more than seven days.
In Lightchaser's story, she, Cinders, and a young girl named Rita entered Moonlight Marsh the same year.
They grew up playing together in the same tree tower, attending school, eating, and training together. By third grade, they had already started participating in the Divine Game.
Each year, GodDraw77 would be triggered by a genius named Lightchaser. People called this period the Lightchaser Moment. But year after year, the GodDraw77 game opened again and again without a new winner.
This continued until seventh grade—the final opportunity. GodDraw77 was triggered once more by Lightchaser. Her name was etched into that time, creating an unrepeatable Lightchaser Moment. But even then, she did not win GodDraw77. A real shame.
Then time reversed. They returned to the year of enrollment. The three children stood under the great tree of Moonlight Marsh, tilting their heads up to it and exclaiming "Wow."
Everything began again.
Seven years, another seven years. Their time always paused at Moonlight Marsh.
The final line of the fairy tale read: Without GodDraw77, her Brilliant Imagination would never end.
How had Lightchaser, unwilling to end her Brilliant Imagination, awakened from Lynx Duke's story?
Rita pondered this question for a long time without finding an answer.
But she did understand one thing.
In some period of time, she had become Lightchaser's new regret—a regret far greater than GodDraw77.
So much so that in the fairy tale, Lightchaser refused GodDraw77. She would allow this imagination to never end.
The summer snowman melted slowly in the wrong season… but what about Lightchaser?
This realization saddened Rita.
So she tried to recreate a Brilliant Imagination aboard Cat's Ideal.
But the spirits were too perceptive; they saw through it immediately.
