Chapter 368: Leaving the Island
A small house on the hillside.
One lamp, one pot of wine, three people, four dishes.
"Are you truly determined to leave?"
"Yes."
"Must you leave?"
"I must."
"Is there no room for negotiation?"
"None."
"Very well."
Shui Nan said nothing more; he picked up his wine cup and drained it in one gulp.
Sitting to the side, Shui Wu looked as if she had done something wrong, keeping her head down and remaining silent.
Luo Zijun picked up the wine pot, refilled the cup for his father-in-law, and comforted him: "Don't worry, Uncle Nan, I will take good care of Aw u."
Shui Nan gave a cold laugh: "If you set out to sea, you will barely be able to protect yourself, so how will you take care of her?"
Having said this, he let out a long sigh and continued to bury his head in his drinking.
A moment of silence.
He suddenly set his cup down with a "clang," squinted at him, and said: "You brat, you're taking my daughter to go find your wife? Now that I think about it carefully, why does this feel a bit offensive? Do you have a grudge against me, you brat?"
Luo Zijun hurriedly picked up the wine pot again to refill his cup and said: "If Uncle Nan is unwilling, you could actually let Aw u stay behind..."
As soon as these words were spoken, Shui Nan immediately widened his eyes.
Shui Wu also raised her head to look at him.
Luo Zijun hurriedly added: "Crossing the sea is very dangerous, and life and death are uncertain; I don't want to let Aw u follow me into danger either."
Shui Wu spoke up immediately: "I'm not afraid."
Her gaze was firm, her tone resolute: "I want to follow you."
Luo Zijun had nothing to say.
Seeing his daughter like this, Shui Nan naturally could no longer complain or blame, so he couldn't help but sigh again, drain his wine cup in one gulp, and then stand up, saying: "You two should get some rest early; I will come to see you off tomorrow morning."
Having said this, he leaned on his cane and went out the door with a "thump, thump, thump."
That tall, limping figure appeared so desolate and pitiful in the night, bathed in the moonlight outside.
"To leave your father all alone, can you bear it?"
Luo Zijun asked the young girl opposite him.
Shui Wu lowered her head in silence for a while, then looked up at him and said: "I will come back to see him. Father also said that I am free, and I should do the things I like."
"The thing you like is following me?"
"No, and sleeping with you."
The young girl's azure eyes looked at him shyly yet boldly, but after saying this, her cheeks turned slightly red.
"Uh... I like that too."
Luo Zijun admitted.
The two locked eyes, and the room fell into a brief silence.
Outside the house, a full moon rose into the night sky, and the evening breeze brought the sound of lake water lapping against the reefs, along with the tranquil atmosphere that only exists at night.
The night was deep; it was time to sleep.
Luo Zijun held the young girl, whose cheeks were flushed and whose eyelashes were fluttering, and walked into the bedroom.
He locked the door and closed the window.
A red candle was lit in the room, and the thin curtains hung down.
The two got into bed.
"Sleep now; we have to set off tomorrow morning, so we need to keep our spirits up."
Luo Zijun lay down and closed his eyes.
The young girl beside him blinked as she looked at him, and after a while, she asked softly: "Are you spent?"
Luo Zijun immediately opened his eyes and glared at her: "If you have the guts, say that again!"
"You are spent."
The young girl's tone had been a question before, but now it was a statement.
Luo Zijun sneered: "Who was it crying and saying they were spent last night?"
"You are spent now."
The young girl blinked, her tone calm, yet it was enough to make one unable to remain calm.
"..."
"Fine! Very well!"
How could Luo Zijun endure any longer? He immediately rolled over, mounted, and undressed—all in one fluid motion!
"Little girl, tonight we fight to the end, until one of us falls!"
Outside the window, the moon hid behind the clouds.
A figure stood at the edge of the cliff, facing the cold wind, gazing into the distant night in contemplation.
Before long, a light drizzle began to fall from the deep night sky.
Soon, the light rain turned heavy, pitter-pattering down.
The vegetation in the mountains was quickly soaked by the rain, and the flowers on the hillside swayed helplessly in the storm.
