Chapter 243

In less than ten days,

Lady Gan also gave birth to a son. Liu Bei thought it over and decided to give him the name Liu An.

A few days later,

Liu Bei held a grand award ceremony outside Jinyang City,

"Xu Xiu, beheaded three Xiliang soldiers and captured two, rewarded with twenty mu of fertile land, thirty thousand coins, seven head of cattle and sheep, and one Xiongnu and one Xianbei woman each!"

One name after another was read out,

Those who performed great merit were awarded by Liu Bei personally!

Others were awarded by Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Ju Shou, Guo Jia, and others!

Young generals like Guanqiu Jian and Guo Huai also received many rewards.

The entire Bingzhou was boiling,

Especially the newly arrived people,

"I didn't expect that following Governor Xuande to fight would have such generous rewards!"

"I heard the rations are also very generous!"

"I also want to join the army, not for the rations, but to perform merit and kill enemies, so that my family can have a few more women to work!"

"Governor Xuande wins every battle; we must follow his footsteps closely."

Facing the surging wave of enlistment,

Liu Bei announced on the spot that he would expand the army by ten thousand, but they would have to pass a selection process. The number of people signing up was huge,

For those not selected for the time being, Liu Bei had them participate in collective training during the slack farming season, striving to be selected next time.

Lu Zhi greatly praised Liu Bei for this; in the future, the source of soldiers would be endless, and they could also organize militia temporarily.

For veteran soldiers who were injured in battle and could no longer participate in high-intensity combat,

Liu Bei organized them and moved them to the Hetao Plain, distributing several Hu Ren women, fertile land, and pastures, allowing them to take root there.

This not only strengthened the number of Han people in the Hetao Plain but also motivated the soldiers, as they would have a good place to go after retirement in the future.

Liu Bei had one requirement, which was that they must have more children; whether they could control the Hetao Plain in the long term ultimately depended on the population.

The soldiers accepted it happily!

Chang'an City,

Dong Zhuo was furious,

"The big-eared thief is shameless!"

Li Ru's eyelids also twitched,

"My lord, this Liu Bei is indeed shameless. This time he luckily defeated us, and he actually comes to ask for an official position!"

Dong Zhuo felt bitter in his heart. Isn't that so? Recently he had been borrowing wine to drown his sorrows and being comforted by beauties, so his mood had only just improved slightly.

Unexpectedly,

This big-eared thief has come again!

Liu Bei won the battle, but he fought against him!

How could he have the nerve!

"Liu Bei requests the titles of Zhonglang General and Captain for Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, and others..."

"Guan Yu, Ju Shou, and others request the title of Governor of Bingzhou for Liu Bei? Mutual recommendations? Shameless!"

Li Ru cupped his hands,

"My lord, these are all empty titles. You might as well give them to him. You can also appoint Guan Yu as Governor of Henei and let him go fight Yuan Shao!"

Dong Zhuo's eyes lit up,

"Good, let's do that!"
