Chapter 462

He hurriedly led the troops out and arrived at the river valley, seeing a scene he would never forget.

Everywhere there were barbarian soldiers screaming,

and Liu Bei's soldiers were actually rescuing those barbarian soldiers.

Liu Bei rode his horse over,

"Ziyuan, hurry and lead the soldiers to pursue them. Capturing barbarian soldiers is all military merit."

Wu Yi turned around and told his subordinates to pursue, sighing to himself,

"Xuande Gong broke the seventy-thousand-man joint army of Gao Ding and Yong Kai in one battle, shaking Yizhou with his might. I submit!"

Liu Bei patted him on the shoulder,

"It is not me; it is our allied forces."

Wu Yi's eyes lit up; this brother-in-law is worth befriending!

Liu Bei naturally wouldn't look at this little bit of merit; his goal was the entire Yizhou.

The pursuit lasted for a day.

Yong Kai was scared out of his wits and ran directly to his old lair!

Gao Ding also ran to Xichang City and held it firmly!

Pang Tong counted the spoils of this battle,

"My lord, our army killed eight thousand barbarian soldiers, captured over thirty-two thousand, took three thousand warhorses, and the grain and fodder are enough for our army to eat for several more months!"

Liu Bei nodded,

"Try your best to treat those wounded barbarian soldiers."

"Understood!"

"Select six thousand elites from the captives to be your new additional troops."

"Understood!"

Liu Bei also had Zhang Yi and Wang Ping each lead one thousand barbarian soldiers first, training them into elite troops 0......

The barbarian soldiers were awed by Liu Bei's bravery and were beaten into submission in one battle. Hearing that they could join Xuande Gong's great army, they signed up enthusiastically. If you can't beat them, join them; everyone understands this point!

Deng Zhi cupped his hands,

"My lord, the officials of Yongchang Commandery, Lu Kai, Wang Kang, and others, are all loyal people. I am willing to go and persuade them."

Liu Bei nodded,

"Good, Bemiao, you take some experts with you. Pay attention to safety. Regardless of whether you can persuade them or not, ensure your own safety first."

Deng Zhi was moved in his heart,

"Thank you, my lord!"

The more Wu Yi looked at Liu Bei, the more he felt he had the style of a brilliant lord,

"Brave and skilled in battle, neither arrogant nor impatient, courteous to the wise; my sister truly married the right person!"

Liu Bei smiled,

"Ziyuan, you report the results of this victory to Liu Zhang."

"Thank you, Xuande Gong."

While training his troops, Liu Bei led them in pursuit, successively capturing Maoniu, Dingzuo, Gongdu, and other places!

Gao Ding shrank into Xichang City and didn't dare to come out at all.

Liu Bei stationed his troops ten miles outside Xichang City and had people notify Gao Ding that as long as he surrendered, the past would be forgotten!

Gao Ding, however, continued to sharpen his weapons and horses, intending to use Qiongdu City (Xichang) to block Liu Bei's attack and wait for reinforcements.

He had already sought help everywhere—Meng Huo, Yong Kai, and even Zhu Bao, who occupied Zangke Commandery. Everyone's lips were gone, and their teeth were cold; if Liu Bei exterminated him, would the others be far behind?

At the Yizhou Governor's Mansion,

Liu Zhang was somewhat worried as he discussed with everyone,

"Everyone, I have received news that Gao Ding and Yong Kai have raised a great army of seventy thousand and will soon meet Brother Xuande's troops."

Leng Bao cupped his hands,

"My lord, Gao Ding's subordinate general E Huan is brave and skilled in battle, and his barbarian soldiers are skilled at shooting arrows and climbing mountains and ridges; they are extremely elite. I fear Xuande Gong is in danger."

This was what Liu Zhang was worried about. If Liu Bei lost the first battle, he would have invited him for nothing and even lost a sister-in-law for nothing!

Zhang Ren frowned,

"My lord, Xuande Gong is brave and skilled in battle, with a hundred strategies; it is not certain he cannot defeat Gao Ding."

Wang Lei snorted,

"Wouldn't it be better if Liu Bei were killed by Gao Ding, so he wouldn't covet Yizhou!"

5.7 Liu Zhang was furious,

"Wang Lei, stop talking nonsense!"

But he couldn't help but worry,

"I hope Brother Xuande defends the city."

However, he had never thought about sending troops to rescue him...

"Report~!"

A guard came to report,

"My lord, good news! Xuande Gong has broken the seventy-thousand-man joint army of Gao Ding and Yong Kai in the Lushu River Valley, captured thirty-two thousand enemy soldiers, and has now broken several cities, besieging Gao Ding in Xichang City!"

"What?!"

Liu Zhang was overjoyed,

"Brother Xuande is truly brave and skilled in battle, settling Yuexi Commandery in one battle."

Zhang Ren and Leng Bao looked at each other, both worried in their hearts. Liu Bei was too good at fighting, which was not a good thing for their lord.

Wang Lei shouted,

"My lord, it would have been better if Liu Bei had been defeated. With a great victory, he will shake Yizhou with his might, and when the time comes, he will take my lord's place! It will be as easy as turning over one's hand!"

Liu Zhang cursed loudly,

"Wang Lei, do you want us to suffer losses and have Gao Ding fight all the way to Chengdu Prefecture!"

Leng Bao cupped his hands,

"Everyone, there is no need for this. The defenses of Xichang City are not bad; Xuande Gong might not be able to break it."

Zhang Song??

"Leng Bao, whose side are you actually on!"

Leng Bao snorted coldly; he was on the Governor's side!
