Chapter 645

Xuxian,

Zhuge Liang had already arrived with one hundred thousand troops.

Cao Xiu and Man Chong were arrayed in battle formation!

Xia Hou Dun, Jiang Yiqu, and others led thirty thousand troops to camp outside the city, forming a pincer formation with Xuxian, with tight defenses.

Gao Shun, Ju Yi, Wang Ping, Gao Lan, and Zhang He led elite troops to attack in turns.

Zhuge Liang sat in a four-wheeled carriage, guards holding shields and swords, protecting him with a human wall.

He watched the endless, tidal-like attacks, but his heart was not happy.

Xuxian had been well-built by Cao Cao. Although it could not compare to a massive city like Yecheng, its city defenses were excellent. It wasn't very large, which actually favored the side with fewer troops in defending the city.

The Cao army on the battlements rose up, drawing bows and shooting. The Cao army, occupying the high ground, fired arrows with great method, killing and repelling Wang Ping's daredevil assault team.

The horn for retreat sounded.

Seeing that the frontal assault had no effect, Zhuge Liang did not want to waste his soldiers' lives and ordered a retreat to the camp.

Man Chong was formerly a harsh official. Cao Xiu discovered that Man Chong was skilled at defending the city and handled matters flawlessly, proving himself a talent, and reported the situation to Cao Cao.

Xia Hou Dun laughed loudly in the camp,

"Zhuge, you scoundrel, aren't you full of wisdom? Why haven't you taken Xuxian?"

He had been outmaneuvered by Zhuge Liang twice, and this time he finally felt a sense of triumph!

The situation in Xuxian remained deadlocked. Zhuge Liang had no good way to deal with the fortified city and could only wait for a breakthrough elsewhere.

Hulao Pass,

Guan Yu, Xu Huang, Li Yan, Wu Anguo, and others suddenly led fifty thousand troops to strike out.

They captured more than a dozen counties in succession, including Yuanwu, Zhongmu, Suanzao, Yanxian, and Changyuan.
