Chapter 91

The guard said hurriedly,

"Great King, it's Liu Bei's troops. They disguised themselves as merchants, mixed into the city, slashed the soldiers, and controlled the city gate!"

He Lian cursed,

"Damn eared thief, too insidious. Assemble the army for me; I want to kill all the eared thief's soldiers!"

"Bang!"

The door was kicked open,

"Damn it, finally let me run into a main general!"

Zhang Fei rushed in, cursing, and killed He Lian's guards with a few spear thrusts, and then stabbed He Lian to death!

"Just this? Trash!"

Zhang Fei cursed, picked up He Lian's corpse and walked out. The Western Xianbei who were still resisting immediately routed!

By the time Liu Bei and Guo Fengxiao entered the city,

The Western Xianbei who were still resisting in the city had basically been killed!

Zhang Fei came over carrying He Lian's head,

"Big Brother, this time the primary merit should be mine!"

Liu Bei laughed,

"Good, Yide killing He Lian is the primary merit!"

"Gongming guarding the city gate and welcoming the main army into the city is also a great merit!"

"Thank you, my lord!"

Liu Bei had calculated against the unprepared this time. Before He Lian noticed, he wiped him out directly.

This time, not only were the gains abundant, and Yanmen Commandery recovered, but it also deterred the surrounding foreign armed forces, making them afraid to provoke Liu Bei easily!

Zhao Zilong, Zhang Fei, and Xu Huang led their troops to quickly sweep through the entire Yanmen Commandery.

They captured sixty thousand Western Xianbei soldiers, seized eighty thousand warhorses, over three hundred thousand head of cattle and sheep—all the wealth He Lian had accumulated over so many years was taken by Liu Bei!

"Sixty thousand Western Xianbei soldiers, all demoted to slaves. Arrange for them to build roads and dig mines!"

Liu Bei thought for a moment,

"Reward those tens of thousands of Western Xianbei women to the soldiers as slaves!"

Guo Fengxiao was rewarded with several bottles of fine wine by Liu Bei, and he could drink his fill!

Liu Bei also chose the three best-looking Western Xianbei noble girls to be bed-making maids, so as not to make Miss Cai too tired.

In this battle,

The disciples of the Taiyuan Wang family performed excellently. Wang Yun's nephew, Wang Ling, killed a ten-thousand-man commander as a battalion commander and was recommended by Liu Bei to be a County Magistrate.

Xu Huang recommended a new soldier to Liu Bei,

"My lord, this kid is named Hao Zhao, courtesy name Bodao. He hasn't been a squad leader for long. This time, when seizing the city gate, he used the terrain with a dozen archers and crossbowmen to cause great damage to the Xiongnu. For a time, the Xiongnu couldn't get close at all!"

"Hao Zhao?!"

Liu Bei looked at this burly, kneeling rookie soldier in front of him and thought to himself,

"Is this the Chencang Gate God who blocked Zhuge Liang's army for dozens of days with over a thousand people in Chencang Road?"

Liu Bei discovered that he had accidentally picked up another treasure!

Liu Bei laughed,

"Good, Bodao, I promote you to be a centurion. You will continue to fight under Gongming for the time being."

Hao Zhao was overjoyed.

He was born in humble circumstances and originally thought it would be difficult to be reused, but he didn't expect the lord to promote him two levels in a row!

"Thank you, my lord. I will definitely do my best."

Liu Bei patted him on the shoulder,

"I will arrange for you to learn the method of training troops from Gao Shun. Work harder!"

Hao Zhao knelt on one knee again,

"Thank you, my lord, for your cultivation!"

He was excited in his heart, not expecting the lord to value him so much.

The bullet comments also increased,

"This young man is already excited!"

"He looks like he is from a civilian background. Did Liu Bei discover another piece of unpolished jade?"

"The eared thief's vision is indeed good. This Hao Zhao might be able to become a talent."

"Forget it, is the eared thief really that divine?"

Netizens were gradually convinced by Liu Bei's vision, but it seemed that everyone Liu Bei took a fancy to became a talent!

Liu Bei was still in Pingcheng when Guan Yu, who was left behind in Taiyuan, sent an urgent secret report,

Liu Hong had passed away!

Liu Bei held an emergency meeting in Pingcheng and told everyone about the matter,

"Military Strategist, what do you think about this?"

Guo Fengxiao paused,

"My lord, the Emperor has passed away. I'm afraid Luoyang will be in chaos. Empress Dowager Dong supports Prince Xie, and Empress He supports her own son, Prince Bian. The two are bound to be incompatible."

Everyone nodded.

Liu Bei continued to ask,

"Fengxiao, who do you think will win?"

Guo Fengxiao laughed,

"My lord has already made a decision, why ask me again?"

Liu Bei was a bit confused,

"Fengxiao, where does this come from?"

"My lord, you previously befriended Yuan Benchu. He is a confidant of Grand General He Jin. He Jin holds half of the military power in Luoyang and has the support of the Yuan family. It is normal for him to win."

Everyone felt admiration,

"So the lord saw so far ahead!"

"My lord is wise!"

Liu Bei almost blushed. He coughed,

"Fengxiao, your flattery is really good."

Everyone laughed out loud!

Liu Bei took out a secret letter,

"This is a secret letter sent to me by Yuan Benchu. Grand General He Jin is summoning foreign troops to enter Luoyang to kill the Ten Eunuchs and other eunuchs!"

Everyone was shocked!

Guo Fengxiao slammed the table,

"Yuan Shao is truly a national traitor!"

Zhao Zilong, Zhang Fei, Xu Huang, Gao Shun, and others were a bit confused. Why did the military strategist start scolding Yuan Benchu?

Zhang Fei said bluntly,

"Military Strategist, killing the Ten Eunuchs is a good thing. Those eunuchs used to embezzle my big brother's merit. They should be killed!"

Apparently, Zhang Fei held a grudge!

"Big Brother, let me lead the troops to kill into the imperial palace and stab that fellow Zhang Rang through!"

Liu Bei waved his hand,

"Yide, don't be impulsive. Listen to the military strategist's analysis."

Guo Fengxiao continued,

"Everyone, think about it. Does killing a few eunuchs require foreign troops to enter Luoyang? Just lead the troops and kill your way in."

A few people thought it was true. Zhao Zilong exclaimed,

"Is Yuan Shao trying to stir up the water in Luoyang even more and profit from the chaos?"

Guo Fengxiao nodded,

"Yuan Shao's heart is punishable, but unfortunately, this Grand General He Jin, who was born a butcher, can't understand it at all."
