Chapter 1068

Inside Hangu Pass.

When the beacon fire and the sound of copper gongs rang out, Ding Yuan, who was stationed in the pass, walked out of the military tent stationed in the pass.

Ding Yuan, who was in his early thirties, wore armor, a sword at his waist, and a martial cap on his head.

After walking out of the military tent, a young general walked quickly toward him.

Seeing the young general, Ding Yuan immediately asked in a deep voice: "Who beat the drum, and why was the beacon fire in front of the pass lit!"

If Lu Bu were here, he would definitely recognize the person in front of Ding Yuan.

It was none other than Hou Cheng, a fellow villager from Jiuyuan Commandery.

Since the last time he followed Lu Bu to the Xiongnu, Hou Cheng, Song Xian, and Wei Xu were driven home by Lu Bu.

And after returning from the Xiongnu, Lu Bu never returned to Jiuyuan again. After picking up his family from Jiuyuan, he had been following Duan Yu.

As for Hou Cheng and others, they were disbanded.

Later, Ding Yuan took over as Inspector of Bingzhou.

Then, when searching everywhere, he heard about Duan Yu's deeds.

He also knew about the matter of Hou Cheng, Wei Xu, and others once following Lu Bu to the Xiongnu.

But Ding Yuan did not understand the specific details.

But Hou Cheng, Wei Xu, and Song Xian all lied in unison, saying that it was because they didn't want to leave home, and after returning from the Xiongnu, they refused Duan Yu's invitation.

At that time, after Ding Yuan heard what they said, he invited them to become his subordinates.

In the past two years, Lu Bu has followed Duan Yu in battles, and his reputation is not small.

And they were all fellow villagers of Lu Bu, and they also had the experience of going to the Xiongnu with Duan Yu and Lu Bu, so Ding Yuan felt that they should not be bad.

As for whether they were driven back or refused Duan Yu's invitation, Ding Yuan had nowhere to verify, after all, he was not familiar with Duan Yu.

"Lord, Duan Yu's troops have arrived in front of the pass!"

Hou Cheng, wearing armor, bowed and said.

"Oh?" Ding Yuan's brows raised: "So fast?"

"How many troops?"

"How many cavalry?"

"Are there any siege weapons?" ===== CHAPTER 1070 =====
