Chapter 1276: Chang'an! 【1】 (Thanks: Mingyuexin TD)
In July, the scorching sun was like fire, as if it wanted to burn the whole world.
The scorching sun ruthlessly roasted this vast land of Guanzhong. The fertile soil stretching for eight hundred li was roasted hot, as if the earth itself was panting.
The ground was cracked, and the fields were withered and yellow.
This land, which was once praised as the "Capital" and created the powerful Zhou Dynasty, was now like a forgotten wasteland.
More than a thousand years ago, an ancient tribe migrated here from afar and discovered this fertile soil.
Then, over a long period of hundreds of years, they reclaimed fertile fields, built houses, and held sacrifices on this land, deeply rooting the tribe here, forming a powerful tribe. They called this place 'Jing.'
It was also from this moment that all successive capitals were named after "Jing."
Later, a leader of this tribe named Xibo Chang led the tribe to expand, migrate, and fight, finally settling here, naming this place Haojing!
Xibo Chang and his son used Haojing as their capital, conquered the east and west, destroyed the Shang, and started the Western Zhou period that lasted for four hundred years.
And during these four hundred years, Haojing had always been the capital of the Western Zhou.
It was not until the Eastern Zhou started and migrated to Luoyi, which is today's Luoyang, that this place was treated as a secondary capital.
At the end of the Qin and the beginning of the Han, after Gao Zu Liu Bang defeated Xiang Yu, he accepted Zhang Liang's suggestion and made his capital here.
It was said to be a golden city of a thousand li, a land of abundance, and this place had the momentum to hold the throat of the world and clutch its back.
After Gao Zu Liu Bang adopted the suggestion, he built a city here, named Chang'an.
"Records of the Grand Historian: Annals of Gao Zu" records: "Wishing his descendants to be in Chang'an as the capital." ===== CHAPTER 1278 =====
