Chapter 249

Tie Shitou returned to Duan Yu with the marked map.

Duan Yu unfolded it and took a look.

Two areas were marked on it.

One in the west, one in the east.

"Wenyuan, Wenze, come and take a look." Duan Yu called out to Zhang Liao and Zhang Xun.

The two brothers stood up and came to Duan Yu's side.

Compared to Zhang Liao, Zhang Xun, as a border soldier of Yanmen Commandery, was more familiar with the situation of the Xiongnu and Xianbei.

Just by looking at the map, he immediately said: "Brother Duan, the location here in the east is Mount Tanhanshan, where the Xianbei Shanyu Tanshihuai established the Xianbei royal tent."

"There is the Shuoqoushui River here, a place with lush water and grass."

"This place is only a little over three hundred li away from Gao Liu."

"We are now about two hundred li away from Mount Tanhanshan."

"According to the itinerary, Wang Rou should have just entered Gao Liu not long ago."

"If we set out now, we can arrive at Mount Tanhanshan a step ahead of Wang Rou; if we are lucky, we might even be able to intercept Wang Rou and Wang Ze on the way."

Zhang Xun pointed to the other side of the map and said: "And this is Surrender City."

"The Xiongnu once established the Xiongnu royal court here; this place is close to the Hetao pasture, and the water and grass are rich, also suitable for grazing."

"Previously, the Xiongnu were defeated and fled to the northern desert, not returning for many years. After the sixth year of Xiping, the Xiongnu people began to gradually return to this place."

"It is about eight or nine hundred li away from our current location."

Duan Yu nodded as he listened.

He had finally managed to get one step ahead of Wang Rou.

It seems that not going to Gao Liu to pursue Wang Rou was the right choice.

Otherwise, he would likely have had to face the checkpoints set up by Wang Ze, which would have delayed his time.

"Pass the order: let the soldiers rest for two hours, then set out for Mount Tanhanshan immediately!" ===== CHAPTER 251 =====
