Chapter 553

The court meeting dispersed.

Duan Yu's reward was also settled.

The position of Governor of Hanyang Commandery remained unchanged, his title was increased by one rank, he was enfeoffed as the Marquis of Duxiang, with a fief of five hundred households, and was additionally appointed as the General Who Breaks the Qiang.

When Yang Ci, Cui Lie, and others heard this series of rewards, they were all shocked.

Because after the Battle of Fengyi in the first year of Jianning, Duan Jiong, one of the Three Brights of Liangzhou, held this series of official positions.

General Who Breaks the Qiang, Marquis of Duxiang, fief of five hundred households.

But clearly, Duan Yu was even better.

With Dong Zhuo as his father-in-law, now with the solicitation of the Yuan clan, and the protection of the eunuchs in the palace.

Once Duan Yu grew for another two years, if he really defected to the eunuchs or became the next Duan Jiong, the harm would be even greater than Duan Jiong, who suppressed the Imperial Academy and harmed the Pure Stream together with Wang Fu back then.

Yang Ci and others never expected that Yuan Kui would wait for an opportunity to sit back and reap the benefits.

The new Liangzhou Inspector, Geng Bi, was a student and former official of the Yuan clan.

Geng Bi entering Liangzhou was a shackle and a warning that Yuan Kui was giving to Duan Yu.

If Duan Yu did not take action, then next time, the Runan Yuan clan would no longer stand on his side.

In this court meeting, Yang Ci did not gain any advantage and did not achieve his goal.

And Zhang Rang and others could only be said to have no faults, but they couldn't claim any merit with Duan Yu either.

The ultimate beneficiary was Yuan Kui.

After walking out of the imperial palace, Yang Ci was full of worry.

Cui Lie and others followed behind Yang Ci, looking like a group of unwilling defeated generals.

"Lord Yang..." Cui Lie, who followed behind Yang Ci, said indignantly: "For the Minister of Works Yuan to do this, it is clearly fueling the arrogance of the thieves. If that Duan Yu really grows his wings in the future, and if he relies on the eunuchs, what will happen then?"

Everyone behind Cui Lie nodded busily. ===== CHAPTER 555 =====
