Chapter 903

As soon as Zhang Rang said this, Jian Shuo became anxious.

Because he had been poked in a sore spot.

"Enough."

Liu Hong frowned and interrupted the dispute between Jian Shuo and Zhang Rang: "Zhang Rang, continue, how should he be rewarded and punished?"

"Your Majesty can first strip Duan Yu of his position as General of the Guards."

Zhang Rang said: "Now that the rebel troops have reached Taiyuan, Bingzhou is Duan Yu's home, and it is not the Central Plains. Duan Yu has the authority of the Governor of Liangzhou, so he does not need the title of General of the Guards in Bingzhou."

"As for the reward, this old servant dares to suggest."

"Speak your mind," Liu Hong waved his hand and said: "Speak boldly."

Zhang Rang's eyes rolled and he said: "This old servant believes that since it is a reward, we must consider it from many sides."

"After this incident, this old servant believes that Duan Yu is a person of emotion and righteousness. Being able to do this for his father-in-law is enough to explain everything."

"Therefore, this old servant believes that since it is a reward, it should satisfy Duan Yu while also benefiting Your Majesty."

"Why not form a marriage alliance with Duan Yu..."

Hmm?

Liu Hong immediately widened his eyes.

Form a marriage alliance with Duan Yu?

Jian Shuo also looked at Zhang Rang in bewilderment.

A marriage alliance?

How to form it?

"Your Majesty, the late Emperor had three princesses. Now the Eldest Princess Yang'an and the Eldest Princess Yingyin have both been married off."

"But the Eldest Princess Yangdi is still unmarried, and she is not young anymore."

Eldest Princess Yangdi, Liu Xiu.

She was titled Eldest Princess Yangdi in the seventh year of Yanxi.

Counting her age, she is now nineteen, turning twenty soon.

At this age, not being married is already very rare.

It was mainly because Liu Xiu had not yet come of age before Emperor Huan, Liu Zhi, died.

And later, Liu Hong and Eldest Princess Yangdi, Liu Xiu, were of the same generation; although she was older, it was not easy to assign a marriage for her.

So it was delayed for a few years.

If it weren't for Duan Yu's incident today, plus Zhang Rang's reminder, Liu Hong would have forgotten about such a person long ago.

After all, this is Luoyang, where there are many imperial relatives.

"Zhang Rang, have you gone mad?" Jian Shuo suddenly raised his voice and said: "Duan Yu is already married. Do you want the Eldest Princess Yangdi to marry Duan Yu as a concubine?"

Zhang Rang glared at Jian Shuo and ignored him, instead saying directly to Liu Hong: "Your Majesty, this old servant has heard that although Duan Yu has a wife and daughter, he has no principal wife. Dong Zhuo's daughter is also a wife of equal status."

"So how can one speak of concubines?"

"If Your Majesty bestows a marriage upon Duan Yu, the benefit is that you become relatives. With Duan Yu's character of remembering kindness, if Your Majesty is his relative, Duan Yu will naturally be inclined toward Your Majesty in all things."

"Isn't this killing two birds with one stone?"

Liu Hong rubbed his chin with one hand.

The expression on his face was somewhat moved.

Buguangli.

Dong Zhuo's residence.

Duan Yu placed Wei Ban's head at Dong Zhuo's feet.

"Yu'er, you... did you really kill Wei Ban?" Dong Zhuo looked at Duan Yu in shock and said: "Why are you so impulsive? Isn't this destroying your own future?"

Duan Yu knelt before Dong Zhuo and smiled.

"Father-in-law, you worry too much. The more I act like this, the more Your Majesty will be able to rest easy."

Compared to a general who is steady and leaves no leaks in anything, a general with flaws in character, who acts impulsively and recklessly, and who makes mistakes from time to time, will make those in power feel more at ease.

Isn't Liu Hong suspicious of him? Then good.

He will take the initiative to give Liu Hong a chance to punish him.

This way, Liu Hong can be at ease.

And...

He still has two big trump cards he hasn't brought out yet.

Why not let the bullets fly for a while? ===== CHAPTER 905 =====
