Chapter 1313
A firm resolve surged in Gu Yi's heart, and he commanded his brave warriors to meet the Cao Army's charge. The two powerful forces collided fiercely in the valley, the tearing sound of blades clashing against blades ringing out incessantly.
Although the force led by Gu Yi was not large in number, every one of them was an elite choice. They fought valiantly, using powerful combat techniques and indomitable will to engage the Cao Army.
Though the Cao Army was numerous, they paid a heavy price in the face of the stubborn resistance from Gu Yi and his subordinates. Flowers of blood bloomed in the air, the slaughter between the two sides grew increasingly intense, and the battlefield was filled with a thick scent of gunpowder smoke and blood.
Cao Cao observed the battle from afar, his brows slightly furrowed. He realized that Gu Yi was not someone to be trifled with; his strength far exceeded the Cao Army's expectations. However, Cao Cao was not resigned to failure; he issued orders even more fiercely, demanding the Cao Army launch another fierce assault.
The engagement between Gu Yi and the Cao Army entered a white-hot stage. The sounds of slaughter, shouting, and screaming on the battlefield intertwined, forming a tragic song of war. Both sides went back and forth, exhausting every ounce of strength, fighting to the death.
Time seemed to stretch, each second feeling like an eternity. The duel between Gu Yi's army and the Cao Army had transcended the scope of individual courage and strength, becoming a battle against fate.
The valley echoed with the thunderous roar of war drums, and blood stained the earth red. A cruel and resolute glint flashed in Cao Cao's eyes; he would never allow Gu Yi's existence to threaten his own ruling position.
"Zhao Zilong, lead the cavalry and charge for me." Gu Yi looked at Zhao Zilong beside him and gave the order in a deep voice.
"Understood!" Zhao Zilong cupped his fists in response. He immediately led his subordinate cavalry and charged forward.
"Kill!" Just as Zhao Zilong's cavalry moved out, there was movement on the Cao Army's side as well. A unit of cavalry charged forward rapidly, and soon collided with the cavalry under Zhao Zilong.
Zhao Zilong led his subordinate cavalry to fight valiantly, but the Cao Army's cavalry was a cut above. The warhorses of both sides crisscrossed, blades and spears collided, and the sounds of slaughter resounded throughout the entire valley.
"Zhao Zilong, you really are capable of playing the hero." Watching the battle situation fall into chaos, a sinister smile appeared on Cao Cao's face, and the muscles at the corners of his mouth trembled, as if he were enduring great pain.
"Zhao Zilong, I want to see how long you can hold out." Cao Cao looked at Zhao Zilong on the battlefield, his eyes filled with resentment.
The Cao Army's cavalry charged forward, aiming directly for Zhao Zilong, wanting to crush him. Unfortunately, Zhao Zilong was worthy of being the world's second-greatest general; he had long been prepared. Holding a sharp blade, he hacked down the cavalry before him and rapidly charged to the very front line.
Cao Cao watched the battle, his heart filled with astonishment. He had not expected that he would encounter such a troublesome fellow this time.
"Zhao Zilong, do you really think you can block my cavalry with the three-foot blade in your hand?" Cao Cao snorted coldly and shouted, "Take this thief for me, and I shall reward you heavily."
"Understood!" The Cao Army's cavalry shouted in unison and swarmed toward Zhao Zilong.
"Kill!" Zhao Zilong roared, brandishing his long halberd and fighting desperately to cut down the enemy soldiers rushing toward him. Unfortunately, there were simply too many enemy soldiers, and Zhao Zilong soon began to run out of stamina.
"Damn it, how could it be like this?" Zhao Zilong looked at the enemy soldiers before him, thinking through gritted teeth.
"Zhao Zilong, you had better surrender obediently!" Cao Cao stood behind the Cao Army, looking at Zhao Zilong and sneering. His face was filled with a ferocious expression, and his eyes were filled with the flames of hatred, as if he wanted to burn the Zhao Zilong before him to ashes.
"Hmph!" Zhao Zilong snorted with disdain. His gaze swept across the Cao Army, looking for a breakthrough. But he discovered that the Cao Army's defense was extremely tight, and there was simply no opportunity at all.
"Zhao Zilong, you have nowhere left to go." Cao Cao looked at Zhao Zilong, a mocking expression appearing in his eyes, and he continued, "You had better surrender! Perhaps I can show mercy and spare your life."
"Hmph, a despicable villain like you has no qualifications to negotiate terms with me." Zhao Zilong looked at Cao Cao and said through gritted teeth.
"Oh?" Cao Cao raised an eyebrow and said, "You certainly have a lot of backbone! Very well, I shall let you taste my might."
As his voice fell, Cao Cao nocked an arrow on the longbow in his hand, aimed at Zhao Zilong, and prepared to loose the arrow.
"Not good!" Seeing Cao Cao's action, this thought flashed through Zhao Zilong's mind.
"Bang!" The arrow flew out and hit Zhao Zilong's shoulder with pinpoint accuracy.
"Ah..." Zhao Zilong felt a sharp pain coming from his shoulder and could not help but cry out in pain. He raised his head, looking at Cao Cao, his eyes filled with anger.
"Zhao Zilong, go to your death!" Cao Cao sneered and waved his hand, signaling the soldiers to fire arrows again.
"Swish, swish..." The rain of arrows flew in, and Zhao Zilong had no room to dodge at all.
"No, I will never admit defeat." A belief of not admitting defeat flashed through Zhao Zilong's heart. His eyes widened, his gaze filled with stubbornness.
"Boom, boom, boom!" The arrows flew in and struck Zhao Zilong's body. Several marks of varying depth were left on his armor.
"Ah..." Zhao Zilong felt the intense pain traveling from his armor to his entire body and could not help but wail.
"Soldiers, charge for me and kill this thief." Cao Cao shouted loudly.
"Kill!" The Cao Army's cavalry shouted, and they charged madly toward Zhao Zilong.
"Kill!" Zhao Zilong roared through gritted teeth, the weapon in his hand brandishing as he tried his best to resist the enemy's offensive.
The Cao Army's cavalry drew closer and closer, and it looked like they were about to reach Zhao Zilong.
Just at this moment, shouts of battle came from the hillside in the distance. Zhao Zilong raised his head and saw cavalry arriving there in an endless stream.
