Chapter 174

But this Jianghuai Plain is as flat as a pancake!

There are no dangerous terrains to set an ambush!

And he was facing Tao Qian's elite forces!

He truly could not imagine how Lin Yang managed such a great victory!

"Let's go, we are going to Huaiyin!"

After pondering for a moment, the young man made his decision!

He had to go and see for himself!

Only then could he resolve the doubts in his heart!

Xuzhou, Xiapi Commandery, Huaiyin:

In the depths of winter, as the cold front arrived, the temperature dropped further. For the soldiers standing on the walls of Huaiyin, what they felt was even colder than the weather: it was the despair before them!

Twenty thousand remnants and defeated soldiers were shivering in Huaiyin at this moment!

And outside the city was Lin Yang's military camp.

Inside the main military tent at this moment:

"My lord, this Zhao Yu is cowering in the city and will not come out. Should we launch a forced assault!"

Inside the main tent, Lin Yang, Cheng Yu, Zhao Yun, Taishi Ci, Seeing Dian Wei, and others were all present!

Having defeated Tao Qian's forty thousand troops, Zhao Yun, Taishi Ci, and the others were all high in spirits!

That was Tao Qian's forty thousand elites!

And they had been routed by them!

As long as they take Huaiyin!

The entire gateway to Xuzhou will be opened!

"What are the casualties among the troops, and have they finished resting!"

Compared to the excitement of Zhao Yun and the others, Lin Yang's expression was exceptionally solemn!

That previous battle!

Although they won and even defeated Tao Qian's forty thousand elites!

But the losses among his own troops were also somewhat heavy!

Apart from the twenty thousand in the center army who led the final charge and suffered relatively fewer losses!

The remaining ten thousand in the vanguard and the ten thousand led by Taishi Ci had all suffered devastating casualties!

The Danyang soldiers were definitely elite!

Fully armored and fearless of death!

Seeing Dian Wei's four thousand iron-armored spiral troops had been dealt over one thousand casualties!

A casualty rate of nearly thirty percent!

It was truly shocking!

And this was with iron armor for protection!

As for the rest who lacked iron armor protection!

The casualties were even more devastating!

Especially the six thousand in the vanguard, where the casualty rate exceeded forty percent!

Now, out of a full twenty thousand soldiers, only a mere ten thousand were still capable of fighting!

As for Zhao Yun's Iron Pagodas, they had also suffered heavy losses when clashing head-on with the Danyang armored soldiers!

Over two hundred Iron Pagodas!

That was a full two hundred plus Iron Pagodas!

This loss was even more heart-wrenching for Lin Yang than the one thousand plus spiral troops!

Don't look at the fact that Zhao Yun's Iron Pagodas only numbered fifteen hundred!

But the cost Lin Yang invested in these fifteen hundred men was comparable to that of tens of thousands of troops!

Losing over two hundred Iron Pagodas in one go meant a casualty rate of over ten percent!

It truly pained Lin Yang!

"My lord, there are currently thirty thousand soldiers capable of fighting, and they are currently resting!"

Cheng Yu, standing to the side, spoke up. Regarding this great battle, he felt it was already an absolute victory!

Forty thousand troops against an army of sixty thousand!

To be able to rout the opponent's forty thousand troops at the cost of over ten thousand casualties is definitely a rare great victory!

Of course!

Cheng Yu also knew!

The reason they were able to achieve such a great victory this time relied mainly on black powder and the Iron Pagodas!

Black powder!

Directly blew away Cao Bao's biggest trump card, the five thousand cavalry!

It also caused chaos within Cao Bao's army!

Only then, under the charge of the Iron Pagodas, did they achieve such terrifying results, forcibly breaking open the formation of ten thousand soldiers before engaging in fierce combat with the Danyang armored soldiers!

Otherwise!

Relying on the elite nature of Tao Qian's soldiers!

Even if Lin Yang had fifteen hundred Iron Pagodas!

It would have been absolutely impossible to achieve such a great victory!

"Hmm, let the thirty thousand troops continue to rest!"

Forty thousand arrived, and after one great battle, only thirty thousand were still capable of fighting!

The rest were either dead or severely wounded!

This is the cruelty of ancient warfare!

After a great battle, everyone is a casualty!

Even among those thirty thousand capable of fighting, there were likely some with minor injuries!

"Zhongde, instruct the army to ensure uninterrupted food supplies. We must provide proper support and absolutely not let our soldiers go hungry in this cold winter!"

Glancing at the sky outside, the winter of the second year of Chuping was exceptionally cold!

Lin Yang did not want his soldiers to be bleeding and starving at the same time!

"Yes, my lord!"

Cheng Yu nodded, then took Zhao Yun, Seeing Dian Wei, and the others and left first!

With thirty thousand troops here now!

Lin Yang was in no hurry to attack the city!

Attacking the city is easy!

But Lin Yang wanted to reduce the loss of troops!

With black powder in hand, breaking open the gates of Huaiyin is as easy as turning over one's hand!

But in ancient times!

After a great battle, the place where the most people died was often not the battlefield!

But the treatment after being wounded!

In this era with extremely poor medical care, too many wounded soldiers could not get treatment and simply died!

Facing this kind of non-combat attrition!

Lin Yang still wanted to avoid it!

These are all veteran elites!

Lin Yang truly could not bear to lose them!

"It's a pity, I only have Amoxicillin, and I don't dare use it!"

Under the night sky, inside the tent, Lin Yang looked at the items in his storage space and could not help but feel a headache!

What he needed now was medicine to treat injuries!

And in his storage space, he only had the Amoxicillin he had exchanged for earlier!

This thing!

Although it is an anti-inflammatory drug!
