Chapter 188: Yu has failed my lord's heavy trust, and will repay it with death!

"Please tell my lord, my life, Li Hu, belongs to him!"

Eating the beef in his hands in large mouthfuls, the taste of the meat made Li Hu's eyes fill with tears!

Ever since the Yellow Turban Rebellion in Xuzhou destroyed his entire family!

He had joined Tao Qian's army as a soldier!

In the blink of an eye, several years had passed!

He had forgotten when the last time he ate meat was!

The soldiers beside him were all the same, feeling a trace of warmth!

"Don't worry, you just need to push these wooden carts to the city gate!"

Patting Li Hu and the others on the shoulder, the military officer and the others naturally understood their plight!

If they hadn't met a lord like Lin Yang!

Their fate would be no better than Li Hu and the others!

Soldiers of the Han Dynasty and soldiers of later generations had essential differences!

Especially in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, in chaotic times!

There was a saying in later generations: "If the Ming army is not paid in full, they cannot be defeated when paid in full!"

It meant that the soldiers of the Ming Dynasty, if they were paid their full military pay, even the Jin people would not dare to fight them!

And in the chaotic times now, they, as soldiers, had no military pay at all!

That's right!

Under the hereditary military system, many of them joined the army just for a mouthful of food!

No one had any military pay!

Once they joined the army, besides being able to eat their fill!

If they were lucky, when injured, they could receive some money and be sent back to their hometowns!

If they were unlucky, they would die on the battlefield!

This was their ending!

Therefore!

This group of people would follow Lin Yang so wholeheartedly!

"Good, let my lord prepare, we will complete the mission even if we die!"

There was no turning back now; although they didn't understand Lin Yang's arrangement, they were prepared!

Even if they had to fight, they would fight for a way to live!

Then, taking the wooden carts from the other party, they headed toward Huaiyincheng!

At the same time, in the military camp on the other side!

"My lord, they have acted!"

Watching the wooden carts transporting the bodies being pushed back, Lin Yang's heart was extremely nervous!

Whether they could succeed or not depended on this time!

If they failed!

He would just have to let his soldiers attack the city at all costs!

"Zhongde, instruct Zilong to be prepared; this time, we must take the city gate at the fastest speed!"

Fifteen hundred armored soldiers were already mixed among the bodies!

As long as they got close to the city gate, they would strike suddenly!

If Li Hu and the others were truly defecting!

Then two thousand soldiers blocking the city gate would be absolutely foolproof!

If Li Hu and the others had ulterior motives, Lin Yang was not afraid either!

Just as Lin Yang was waiting anxiously, on the city wall of Huaiyincheng!

"My lord!"

Zhao Yu's figure arrived and stood on the city wall!

Ever since he received the news yesterday that Zang Ba's reinforcements were about to arrive, the gloom on his face had dissipated a lot!

As long as Huaiyincheng was defended, Lin Yang's army would not be able to move forward at all!

The loss of Tao Qian's elites before could be considered accounted for!

"Hmm? What are these?"

Sweeping his gaze, Zhao Yu noticed Li Hu and the others who were returning!

The bodies on the wooden carts they were pushing caught Zhao Yu's attention!

"My lord, this is the last batch of bodies of the fallen soldiers, you agreed to it before!"

A lieutenant beside him spoke up!

Hearing that it was the last batch of fallen soldiers' bodies, Zhao Yu nodded!

He had indeed agreed to this matter before!
