Chapter 223

Only Cheng Yu, Guo Jia, and others who understood Lin Yang's character frowned!

Governor's Mansion

"Zhongde, what on earth is my lord's intention in doing this?"

Guo Jia, who was usually strategic, was a bit confused at this moment!

Even if Lin Yang wanted to win over the noble families of the world!

He shouldn't have done this!

You know!

In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, the land annexed by noble families was just too much!

Really letting them all be tax-exempt would definitely cause problems for Xuzhou's finances!

Guo Jia didn't understand!

What was the purpose of Lin Yang doing this!

"Fengxiao, do you think my lord is a benevolent person?"

Cheng Yu, now the Governor's Assistant, was dealing with government affairs while asking Guo Jia!

Was Lin Yang a benevolent person!

Did that even need to be said!

Judging from his style of doing things!

Although he was friendly to the people!

But when it was time to kill, he was never soft-hearted!

He was a true hero of the world!

"In my opinion, in less than half a month, these Xuzhou noble families will be crying!"

Looking at the sky outside, Cheng Yu said coldly!

Although financial matters were not his or Guo Jia's responsibility, and Lin Yang hadn't told him!

But as the person who had followed Lin Yang the longest, Cheng Yu had already guessed a little!

"Oh? Then I'll wait and see!"

Cheng Zhongde was so confident, which made Guo Jia even more curious!

What else was Lin Yang hiding!

"My lord, this is the number of acres of land counted from each commandery and county during this period!"

Gu Yong reported the number of acres of land in each commandery and county to Lin Yang!

Because of Lin Yang's previous order, the officials of the major noble families were very active in reporting the number of acres of land in each place!

Anyway, Lin Yang had already ordered that the private land owned by noble families was not included!

They naturally reported the remaining land as it was!

"The land in each commandery of Xuzhou is very good, and most of the fertile land is occupied by Xuzhou noble families!"

Gu Yong reported truthfully while silently observing Lin Yang!

Others might not know Lin Yang's plan, but he knew it clearly!

"Hmm, it's generally okay, by the way, have the people of the major noble families reported part of their own land?"

Although Lin Yang said that the land of noble families and rich merchants could be their private property!

But Lin Yang didn't forbid noble families and rich merchants from reporting their own land!

"My lord, the Mi family reported twenty thousand acres of fertile land, the Chen family reported ten thousand acres of fertile land, and other noble families in Xuzhou City all reported a certain amount!"

Gu Yong said, picking out these local noble families of Xuzhou City and handing them to Lin Yang!

"Hehe, this group of people is quite smart!"

Looking at it, Especially Mi Zhu, Chen Gui, and others were on it; basically, sixty percent of the local noble families in Xuzhou City chose to report part of their land!

This approach made Lin Yang very satisfied!

Lin Yang didn't care about this land!

What he cared about was the show of goodwill from these noble families!

Listening to Lin Yang's words, Gu Yong looked at the list on the bamboo slip and felt a trace of luck for these people!

However, he immediately thought of his own Gu family!

"Don't worry, the Gu family will definitely have a place in Jiangdong in the future!"

"Thank you, my lord!"

Bowing, Gu Yong breathed a sigh of relief!

"Counting the time, it should be soon, right?"

Looking at Gu Yong, Lin Yang asked his question!

"My lord, at the earliest, in five days, it should be fine!"

Five days, Lin Yang nodded, and then gave instructions to Gu Yong!

"Five days later, let the representatives of the noble families on this list come to the Governor's Mansion!"

Throwing the bamboo slip to Gu Yong, Lin Yang also slowly stood up and walked outside!

Holding the bamboo slip, Gu Yong knew that the noble families in Xuzhou City were probably going to be reshuffled!

The people in this bamboo slip were the ones who would survive!

Meanwhile, in the Mi family

"Big brother, didn't my lord say he exempted our taxes? Why did you take the initiative to report the land?"

Mi Fang found Especially Mi Zhu and asked his question!

Clearly, Lin Yang had ordered that the private land of major noble families be their private property and not pay taxes!

Especially Mi Zhu was still foolishly handing over twenty thousand acres of fertile land!

You know!

This was actively registered!

This meant that their twenty thousand acres of fertile land were registered!

It would be impossible to evade taxes in the future!

"Second brother, it's just twenty thousand acres of fertile land, compared to my lord's trust, it's not worth mentioning!"

Before Especially Mi Zhu could speak, a young girl standing to the side smiled and said!

"Haha, what little sister said is right!"

Especially Mi Zhu nodded, very satisfied with the girl's cleverness!

Lin Yang specifically kept him behind!

And then asked about the yield of fertile land for a long time!

Although Especially Mi Zhu didn't understand Lin Yang's purpose!

But he had to grasp Lin Yang's trust!

The order passed to the major noble families was led by him!

Then he, Especially Mi Zhu, had to take the lead in registering the land!

It was just twenty thousand acres of fertile land!

His Mi family couldn't afford not to give it!

And!

My lord had privatized the Mi family's private land, so they didn't have to hide anymore!

My lord gave him grace, and he, Especially Mi Zhu, would repay it with peaches and plums!

Meanwhile, in the Chen family

"Father, this time our Chen family offered ten thousand acres of fertile land, there will definitely be a return!"

Chen Deng, Chen Yuanlong, looked at his father and said firmly and confidently!

Facing his son like this, although Chen Gui didn't understand, he chose to trust him!

"If your speculation is correct, then my lord is going to take action against the noble families this time!"

Chen Gui didn't know the effect of offering fertile land!

But if Lin Yang had a grasp on the land, then those who didn't offer land would probably suffer!

"Father, what do you mean?"

Chen Deng reacted, his eyes flashing!
