Chapter 226

One week later, Xuzhou City, Provincial Governor's Mansion

"Brother Zi Zhong, we have been friends for many years. You must sell me a bit more of these rice and corn seeds!"

"That's right, Brother Zi Zhong, we are all under the lord's command; you cannot favor one over the other!"

"Sigh, if I had known, I would have offered more fertile land back then!"

"Don't think about it; it's too late to regret now. Better think about how to buy the seeds!"

"..."

At this moment, in the Provincial Governor's Mansion, Mi Zhu and Gu Yong, who were responsible for the province's finances, couldn't help but smile bitterly as they looked at the people from the major noble families before them!

Lin Yang had handed the task of counting and selling the seeds to them!

This had caused all the major noble families to come begging at their door!

The larger noble families could probably still sit tight!

But those wealthy merchants and small noble families no longer had their previous composure!

You talk about the integrity of noble families?

That depends on the situation!

The current situation is that as long as you buy these rice seeds, the profit from one mu of land, even after paying taxes, can triple!

A three-hundred-percent profit!

The world bustles for profit, and the world hustles for profit!

A triple profit is enough to make the integrity of noble families a joke!

"This move by the lord has truly cornered the Xuzhou noble families!"

Guo Jia and Cheng Yu were boiling tea in the pavilion outside, silently watching this scene!

During this time, the threshold at the door where Mi Zhu and Gu Yong were working had almost been trampled down!

Once the news of the rice and corn seeds spread throughout Xuzhou!

Countless people swarmed in!

Those who had offered a portion of their land earlier were slightly better off!

At least!

They could purchase rice and corn seeds at a fair price!

But those who hadn't offered land were in for a miserable time!

The price they would pay would definitely be bone-shattering!

In just this short time, the money in the treasury had already exceeded several hundred million!

"Now that the grain is sufficient and the treasury is full, the lord has ordered the recruitment of new soldiers. It seems he is preparing to take action next spring!"

During this period, after a series of events, Guo Jia had also seen some signs!

Especially with Lin Yang ordering the recruitment of tens of thousands of new soldiers across the five commanderies of Xuzhou to be trained into an army.

In the short term, he probably wouldn't be able to dispatch troops!

"Yes, with these rice and corn seeds being spread throughout Xuzhou, we only need to wait for the harvest at the end of the year to support the army's movements next year!"

Cheng Yu nodded, also agreeing with Guo Jia's view!

Although Xuzhou had been taken!

The planting of rice and corn was only happening in Guangling Commandery and parts of Donghai Commandery!

After all, time was limited, and Lin Yang hadn't been able to plant all the rice and corn in Xiapi, Peng Cheng, and other places!

But now it was different!

Noble families from all over had arrived, and they would plant a portion!

Then, for the remaining registered land, there would be special officials who would bring seeds and arrange for farmers to plant them!

In this way, all the fields within Xuzhou would be planted with high-yield rice and corn this time!

In just half a year, Xuzhou would have so much grain that there would be nowhere to store it!

"Everyone having enough to eat—I never thought the lord would actually achieve this!"

Thinking that in three months, this batch of rice and corn would be harvested, Guo Jia felt a surge of excitement!

Everyone having enough to eat!

What a magnificent sight this was!

Even in the historical records of the ages, it had never been documented!

"Throughout history, even Yao and Shun could not compare to the lord in achieving this!"

Even a person with Cheng Yu's personality felt slightly excited at the thought of that scene!

Even if Lin Yang failed in his bid for supremacy in the end!

Based on this achievement alone!
