Chapter 68: Good news: there are reinforcements; bad news: the reinforcements are county soldiers!

Outside Sishui Pass

"Damn that Yuan Gonglu, he actually cut off my grain and fodder!"

In Sun Jian's camp at this moment, Sun Jian, the Tiger of Jiangdong, was roaring with extreme anger!

He had led his army here to join the alliance!

His heart was filled with hot blood, wanting to eradicate the traitor Dong and restore the Han Dynasty!

He had directly accepted the bitter task of being the vanguard!

As a result!

While he was still fighting Hua Xiong, who was under Dong Zhuo, his own backyard had caught fire!

The grain and fodder that should have been delivered on time!

Had actually not arrived for several days!

He had been scrimping and saving for two days, and the soldiers in the army were already starving!

"Wentai, this cannot go on; the army lacks grain, and if we don't retreat, I fear the entire army will be wiped out!"

Cheng Pu looked at the soldiers outside; each one was already weak and listless!

This was only because Sun Jian governed his army strictly and his soldiers obeyed orders!

Otherwise, they would have mutinied two days ago!

"Retreat, tonight at midnight, take advantage of the darkness and retreat immediately!"

Without grain and fodder supplies, Sun Jian was helpless!

He was not a foolish man!

Hua Xiong's Xiliang soldiers were right before his eyes!

Once they discovered that his army lacked grain!

Then the total annihilation of the army would be right before them!

"Good, I shall go and make the arrangements!"

Retreating under the cover of darkness would also avoid the pursuit of the Xiliang iron cavalry!

"Kill... kill... kill..."

But just as Cheng Pu walked out, the next moment, bursts of battle cries rang out from outside the camp!

The sudden commotion made both Sun Jian and Cheng Pu's hearts skip a beat!

"Not good!"

The two quickly walked out of the tent and saw that their camp was already in chaos!

Flashes of fire were moving, and beneath the ground, there was the sound of warhorses trampling!

"Men, follow me and kill! Whoever kills Sun Jian will be rewarded with a hundred gold and promoted three ranks!"

A loud shout came, and Sun Jian and Cheng Pu's faces turned ash-gray!

Hua Xiong had come to raid the camp!

"Wentai, run quickly, the Xiliang iron cavalry has broken in!"

Han Dang, not far away, rode over quickly, shouting as he pulled the stunned Sun Jian onto his horse!

Supporting each other, they covered Sun Jian as he charged out of the camp!

"It's over, everything is over!"

Fleeing all the way, seeing only scattered soldiers following behind, Sun Jian's eyes were blood-red!

Just because Yuan Gonglu cut off his grain!

It had caused him to be defeated and trapped in this predicament!

His soldiers, whom he had trained with such painstaking effort!

If there had been grain and fodder, how could they have been instantly routed by a single charge on the camp!

"My lord, now is not the time to think of these things; it is better to leave quickly!"

Zu Mao, who was by his side, spoke up to console him!

Ten thousand soldiers had now been completely scattered by the Western Liang iron cavalry!

Some were dead, some had fled!

The soldiers remaining by Sun Jian's side were no more than a dozen!

"Clatter, clatter, clatter..."

Just as Zu Mao finished consoling him, the next moment, the sound of warhorses running came from behind!

"Not good, Hua Xiong is catching up, cover the lord's retreat!"

Glancing back and seeing the Western Liang iron cavalry by the moonlight, Zu Mao immediately pulled Sun Jian and quickly fled!

The dozen or so personal guards by his side gritted their teeth at this moment and stayed behind to block the charge of the iron cavalry!

"Pfft... pfft... pfft..."

In an instant, blood splattered, and the warhorses galloped past, bringing with them a sky full of blood rain!

"Haha, Sun Jian is right ahead, follow me and kill!"

Waving his long blade, Hua Xiong was exceptionally smug at this moment!

Shouting loudly, hundreds of iron cavalry followed him in pursuit of Sun Jian!

"Whoever kills Sun Jian will be rewarded with a hundred gold and promoted three ranks!"

"Whoever kills Sun Jian will be rewarded with a hundred gold and promoted three ranks!"

"Whoever kills Sun Jian will be rewarded with a hundred gold and promoted three ranks!"
