Chapter 244: Big Budget, Big Production

December 14,

When Lin Feng woke up in the morning, Wu Qian had already prepared breakfast.

This woman didn't have a cold, and Lin Feng thought it was a kind of miracle.

After breakfast, Lin Feng drove Wu Qian's car to the company.

"Director Lin, hello!"

"Director Lin, good morning!"

Seeing Lin Feng, the employees all greeted him.

Lin Feng nodded in response.

The 36th floor was already quite crowded.

This was still the result after Liang Shishi moved some departments out.

Liang Shishi is a woman, and most of the department managers under her are also women.

The manager of the film and television department is a woman in her thirties, surnamed Wang, named Wang Qing.

Wang Qing had a neat ear-length short haircut and looked capable and sharp.

When Lin Feng arrived, she was sitting behind her desk reading documents.

"Director Lin, hello!"

Seeing Lin Feng enter, Wang Qing immediately stood up.

Lin Feng pointed to the office door and said, "The door is open, just come in directly."

Wang Qing smiled and said, "Director Lin, you're being polite, please have a seat."

Lin Feng sat down on the sofa in the office.

Wang Qing poured Lin Feng a cup of freshly ground coffee and handed it to him, saying, "I only have coffee here."

"Thank you!"

Lin Feng took the cup.

Wang Qing sat opposite him across the coffee table.

Lin Feng took a sip of coffee, put down the cup, and took out a USB flash drive to hand to Wang Qing,

"This is a script I wrote; Director Liang has also approved it—let's turn it into a project right away!"

"Okay!"

Wang Qing took the USB flash drive and returned to her desk.

She opened the film and television script written by Lin Feng.

The script's title is "National Treasure".

Wang Qing was very sensible; Lin Feng wasn't asking her to judge the script's quality, but to take this script and directly start the film production process.

Lin Feng then said: "The investment budget is two hundred million... dollars! For the male lead, find an actor with acting skills, not those so-called traffic stars. The female lead has been set—it's Han Xiang."

No need to revise the script; today is the 14th, we must finish the filing by the 20th. Finalize the cast and actors by the end of the month. Aim to start shooting in late next month...

Lin Feng raised many demands at once.

Wang Qing listened carefully and noted them down one by one.

Lin Feng spoke rather generally, but putting it into practice turns out to be a complex process.

First, the first step is the script.

The script needs to be broken down, scenes determined, dialogue refined, and the number of characters finalized.

After this step is done, we still need to select suitable actors based on the characters.

Then there are costumes, makeup, props, and determining the shooting locations, etc.

Lin Feng doesn't need to worry about these; Wang Qing's department specializes in this.

Lin Feng finally raised a few more requirements.

He told Wang Qing to send someone to contact the person in charge of Gui Feng Mountain Scenic Area; they have already agreed on renting the scenic area.

The rent, of course, is not paid by Lin Feng himself; it will be deducted from the budget.

As for the director selection, Lin Feng this time does not need those who are highly capable and have independent understanding.

Lin Feng wants a director who is competent but obedient.

The two talked for over two hours.

Wang Qing figured it out—this Director Lin is probably just bored and spending money to make a movie for fun.

An investment of one hundred million dollars, plus the two hundred million dollars from the company, makes it a solid big-budget production even in the United States.

Lin Feng checked the time; it was almost time to get off work.

After standing up, he added: "For actor salaries, don't exceed one-quarter of the total budget. Battle scenes should be grand and have visual impact."

After Lin Feng finished speaking, Wang Qing thought, "Indeed, that's the case."

But there are some things he still needs to say.

"Director Lin, actors' salaries are getting higher and higher; some actors' salaries account for more than half of the entire film or TV drama."

If the budget is too low, we might not be able to hire those big-name actors; if that happens, promotion after the film is made could face major problems.

After Wang Qing finished speaking, Lin Feng furrowed his brow.

After thinking, he said: "If they don't want to come, forget it; not being a big-name actor doesn't mean they lack acting skills!"

Wang Qing nodded, indicating understanding.

"I've been in Yanjing these days; if anything comes up, give me a call."

After Lin Feng finished speaking, he waved at Wang Qing and left the office.

In the afternoon, Lin Feng returned the car to Wu Qian and took a taxi back to his residence.

He was about to take a nap and, taking advantage of the free afternoon, planned to practice the Ever Spring Technique for a while when Bai Ying called.

"Instructor Lin, you've been away for a month, right? If you don't come back soon, these guys won't even know what you look like."

After the call connected, Bai Ying teased.

After thinking it over, Lin Feng said, "Next Monday, next Monday I'll definitely come over, okay?"

"Okay!"

Bai Ying said one word and hung up.

Practice, practice!

Lin Feng simply turned off his phone.

Now nobody can get through.

During this period, whenever he had free time he practiced the Ever Spring Technique.

This isn't some profound cultivation method.

After mastering it, one can neither fly through heaven and earth nor achieve immortality.

However, slowing aging and extending lifespan is still possible..

The most important thing is that it can increase combat power!

What is the most prominent manifestation of combat power?

It's not strength, nor speed, but endurance.

Take new-energy vehicles as an example.

In the future, new-energy vehicles will be compared not by power, nor by how many seconds it takes to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.

But by range.

After practicing for an afternoon, Lin Feng finally woke from his meditation.

It leaves him more refreshed than a simple nap.

He glanced at his wristwatch; it was already evening.

When the weather in Yanjing has been bad lately, the sky gets dark early.

After opening his phone, he called Qi Yao.

"Working overtime tonight?"

After the call connected, Lin Feng asked.

"No overtime."

Qi Yao replied.

"Great! I want to eat steak."

Lin Feng said happily.

He deliberately forgot what had happened at the police station last time.

Now many people in the bureau think Lin Feng is a scumbag, feeling indignant for Professor Qi.

"Hmm!"

Qi Yao merely gave a sound of acknowledgment.

Lin Feng became even happier: "I'll arrive around seven in the evening."

As soon as he finished speaking, Qi Yao hung up.

Lin Feng had originally wanted to ask Qi Yao whether she was afraid of the cold...
