Chapter 145: Base No. 2
The so-called Energy Extraction and Conversion Device is the set of machinery Sun Cheng once enjoyed in Starscream's base for replenishing energy to his Core.
This is equipment unique to the planet Cybertron, capable of rapidly converting electrical energy into high-purity Energy Liquid for storage; for Mechanical Life forms like Decepticons and Autobots, it is a vital strategic piece of equipment.
The Sparks and Cores of Decepticons constantly consume energy and require regular replenishment; otherwise, once their own reserves fall below a certain percentage, they must either enter sleep mode to minimize consumption, or await the arrival of mechanical aging and decay.
Although high-level Decepticons and Autobots, including Sun Cheng, possess the ability to directly absorb electrical energy to replenish their energy.
However, compared to a specialized Energy Extraction and Conversion Device, the efficiency of their absorption and conversion of electrical energy is not only worse, but it also requires much more time.
In the past, Sun Cheng lacked the conditions and could only rely on absorbing the electricity generated by diesel generators within the base to barely recover some of his consumption.
Now that he holds a good card like Jazz's Memory Chip, after attacking Onslaught for refusing to trade his Sonic Stun Gun, he immediately switched his choice to a set of Energy Extraction and Conversion Device.
After completing the trade with Onslaught, Sun Cheng did not stay in the base the whole time.
The replication and upgrading of the plasma pistol require equipment and even more so materials; besides that, he was running around everywhere to place orders and purchase supplies for the construction of Base No. 2.
A few days later, a communication transmitted by Pathfinder from Brazil arrived: the first batch of supplies purchased before he returned to reality had already reached the Amambai Mountains where Base No. 2 is located.
The Underground Karst Cave located in a remote part of the Amambai Mountains was the Base No. 2 he had long since selected, and now it was finally time to begin construction.
Upon learning this news, Sun Cheng immediately squeezed four Workers out of Base No. 1 and sent them to Brazil in two trips.
Their identities are too special; let alone hiring humans to help, I am afraid that if they even show their faces in front of people now, there is a high probability they will be discovered by the United States government, which is currently eager to search the whole world for Decepticons like them.
Although he is unwilling to admit it, Sun Cheng knows better than anyone that unless Starscream or Shockwave summons the Decepticon Legion to Earth, relying on just three or five high-level Decepticons, there is really no way to contend with the most powerful country on this Earth.
"Master..."
Pathfinder respectfully welcomed Sun Cheng, who was carrying a small shipping container in one hand, into the depths of the mountains.
"Is this the cave?" Sun Cheng followed behind him, entering the rarely trodden mountains, and only arrived at the location of the cave after walking for a full half hour within a Canyon; he couldn't help but become interested.
When he sent goods here a few days ago, he basically left immediately after handing them over to Pathfinder to save time.
To put it bluntly, it was still a lack of manpower.
The ten Workers previously traded from Onslaught had to research spaceships for him, research plasma pistols, and were also responsible for the expansion of the two bases.
If it weren't for the fact that these Mechanical Life forms can keep working as long as their energy is not exhausted, no one could handle it.
Upon hearing this, Pathfinder immediately replied respectfully: "Yes, Master, it is here!"
Sun Cheng looked around, then nodded.
This Underground Karst Cave selected for Base No. 2 is located deep in the Amambai Mountains, within a Canyon surrounded by mountains.
Other than walking or using aircraft, there is simply no other way to enter this place; for humans with weak bodies, calling it a dead zone is no exaggeration.
The environment of Base No. 2 selected by Pathfinder is quite good; stepping into the Underground Karst Cave to take a look, Sun Cheng was increasingly satisfied, "Not bad!"
This Underground Karst Cave is worthy of the term "masterpiece of nature," and it is indeed a gift from nature.
Its entrance is already spacious, with a length, width, and height of no less than ten meters; the initial section inside the cave originally had rugged terrain and curves, but as one walks deeper into the cave, after about several hundred meters, there are several spacious underground caverns that do not connect to each other, the largest of which is probably as big as three football fields, and the smallest is the size of three or four basketball courts.
The terrain inside the cave is uneven, with protruding stone pillars and sunken water pits; surprisingly, there is even a lake in one of the caverns, and the depths of the lake connect to an underground river, which can flow all the way into a long river in a section of the Canyon twenty kilometers away, which is not only safe but also has great development potential.
Although he felt a bit sorry for this gift of nature, the four Decepticon Workers Sun Cheng sent first do not have the human sense of protection and had long since begun using machines to constantly destroy the stone pillars in the cave, smooth out the ground, and start construction work on the cave.
Sun Cheng looked on with satisfaction and praised Pathfinder again, "Not bad, you must speed up the work here and strive to get this place ready within half a year."
Pathfinder was a bit surprised, looked up at Sun Cheng, and asked in confusion: "Master, does it need to be this rushed?"
In principle, Mechanical Life forms can actually keep working as long as their energy is not exhausted.
But the reason they are called life instead of machines is that, just like humans, they have joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, and they also have times when they are tired and want to rest.
If only he and the four Workers were working on Sun Cheng's request, let alone half a year, even finishing within a year would be very difficult.
After all, Base No. 2 is starting almost from scratch; not only do they have to level all the underground caverns and reinforce the anti-seismic structure, but they also have to lay lines and pipes, and excavate other emergency escape routes and waterways. All this workload is pressed onto these few Workers, and the workload is not small.
Sun Cheng frowned; he was not dissatisfied with Pathfinder's questioning, but was worrying about the situation within the United States.
After pondering for a moment, he replied to him: "You all hurry up on your side; looking at the situation at Base No. 1, there might be other Workers transferred over. The domestic situation in the United States is unclear now, and in a few days, I plan to take a risk and test what NEST actually is."
Not long after the Battle of Las Vegas, he had obtained some intelligence regarding the Autobots and the United States government through insiders he had bribed and planted within the U. S. government.
It is a pity that Sun Cheng's insiders could not reach the most critical areas, so he could only confirm that the Autobots and the U. S. government might have established a cooperative relationship, but as for the specific content, he was unclear.
This is definitely not good news!
Sun Cheng dares to guarantee with his Core that he is definitely on the Autobots' blacklist now, and he has very likely replaced the dead Megatron and Shockwave, who is temporarily not on Earth, to top the list for the time being.
There is no way around it; not to mention the losses he caused to the U. S. military in the Battle of Las Vegas, just the few points of his attempt to kill Bumblebee and taking away half of Jazz's body when he escaped are enough for him to be hated by the Autobots and the U. S. government.
That is why he has to be vigilant; if the Autobots and the U. S. military government have reached a cooperation and even started to purge the Decepticons on Earth, then Sun Cheng will definitely be the primary target.
PS:
My thoughts are mostly sorted out; I should be able to resume normal updates tomorrow.
