Chapter 161: Leaving (Part II)

~8 min read 1,527 words

"Major Daqi..."

Sun Cheng was stunned. Although the figure lying in the mud at the bottom of the pool was covered from head to toe in sludge, that robust, devil-like, massive physique allowed him to recognize at once that this disheveled figure was none other than Major Daqi.

He hurried over to take a look; Major Daqi's condition was terrible at the moment.

His body was covered in wounds, especially on his chest, left arm, and right palm, each bearing a wound deep enough to see bone. Fortunately, the mud on his body had acted somewhat to stop the bleeding; otherwise, it was likely the blood in his body would have drained away long ago.

Even so, Major Daqi's current state was not much better.

Sun Cheng called out softly a few times, but never received a response; he had clearly fallen into a coma.

The commotion he had heard just moments ago was actually him coughing softly while unconscious.

Sun Cheng crouched down and pressed his neck, seeing that his pulse was both weak and feeble; how could he not understand that his condition was likely even worse than it appeared.

However, Major Daqi was truly lucky; facing an explosion impact at such close range, an ordinary person would have died instantly.

Unlike him, he was somehow still clinging to half a life.

Although they hadn't known each other long, he still remembered the other party's care from the night before. Sun Cheng considered himself someone who repaid kindness, so seeing he wasn't dead, he prepared to lend a hand.

He had the intention to tear off his own shirt to help Major Daqi treat his wounds and then drag him from the muddy pool to the shore, but he feared that too much movement would cause the wounds to bleed again.

After thinking it over, he ultimately decided not to do anything.

However, Major Daqi was severely injured and needed to receive medical treatment as soon as possible.

He immediately took the Defender out of his Tactical Backpack, preparing to have it contact the Costa Rica Rescue Center and have them send a helicopter to the island to pick up himself and the others so they could leave.

The ultrathin laptop that the Defender had turned into was just taken out, and before Sun Cheng could even issue a distress command, his ears twitched slightly, and he faintly heard the sound of a car horn coming from afar.

"A car horn..."

This sudden car horn made him stand up involuntarily, and he hurriedly stretched his neck to look around in order to find the direction the sound was coming from.

After his gaze swept left, right, and all around for a good while without seeing the shadow of any car, Sun Cheng shook his head, assuming he had suffered an auditory hallucination. Just as he was about to issue the command to the Defender, a familiar car horn sounded again.

"Huh..."

This time, Sun Cheng was very certain he hadn't misheard, although he couldn't be sure where the car's horn was coming from!

"I didn't expect that besides the two of us, there were other survivors on the island..."

He glanced at Major Daqi, who was still in a coma in the dried-up pool.

Sun Cheng stood up and walked to the side, raised his gun toward the sky, and fired a few shots in a burst before stopping.

Seemingly having heard the gunfire, the car horn soon sounded again. This time, it didn't just honk once and go silent, but honked several times in succession.

It seems he met someone who understood!

Realizing this, Sun Cheng raised his gun again and fired a burst toward the sky.

This time he didn't stop; in order to let the other party hear the sound clearly so they could find his location, Sun Cheng fired off an entire magazine of bullets.

Hearing the car horn getting closer, for the sake of caution, he took out another magazine and reloaded.

Two minutes later, the car horn was already very close.

Hearing that there was no more movement after the last honk ended, Sun Cheng distinguished the direction slightly and guessed that the car might have stopped near the Exhibition Center, not far from where he was.

He then looked at the still-comatose Major Daqi and walked toward the car.

He hadn't walked far before he saw a few familiar figures approaching.

When he saw them, the people opposite clearly saw him too, especially a blonde lady with a ponytail who covered her mouth in surprise and shouted excitedly: "Sun, it's us..."

This lady cheering loudly toward Sun Cheng was none other than Doctor Saitele, whom he hadn't found at the Power Supply Station just a moment ago.

"Doctor, I'm glad you're okay... I just passed by the Power Supply Station and saw it was on fire, so I rushed in to find you but couldn't. Seeing that you're fine, I'm relieved!"

"Oh, Sun. Thank you..." Doctor Saitele stepped forward and hugged him with some emotion.

Sun Cheng wasn't very used to Western etiquette, but he learned from her, hugged her lightly, and then let go.

He turned his head to look at the few people who had come with Doctor Saitele, his face involuntarily showing astonishment.

"Miss Ada, Doctor Grant... are you all okay too..."

There were two others who came with Doctor Saitele: a tall, thin white man whose body was covered in mud just like his, and a sexy stunner wearing a suit and skirt.

These two were none other than Doctor Saitele's husband, Alan Grant, and the mysterious Ada Wong.

"Sun, thank you for saving my wife earlier..."

Doctor Grant was a very graceful scholar. Just now, when his wife expressed her gratitude and hugged Sun Cheng enthusiastically, there wasn't a hint of annoyance on his face; instead, he thanked him gracefully.

Sun Cheng shook hands with him, "This is what I should have done!"

When he looked at Ada Wong again, his eyes couldn't help but fill with a bit of suspicion as he asked: "Miss Ada, how did you end up with the two doctors..."

This sexy stunner in front of him was simply too mysterious. She claimed to be from a well-known venture capital firm, but the skills she showed when she snuck out of the villa last night were definitely not something an ordinary person could possess.

Moreover, she had a mysterious crystal in her hand that could also cause a reaction in the Spherical Space within Sun Cheng's body.

Combining this with his previous experience of absorbing Amber, Sun Cheng couldn't help but start to suspect whether she, like the ghosts, also came from the two merged parallel universes.

Ada Wong tilted her head slightly, her beautiful eyes looking at him with a faint smile, "When I woke up in the middle of the night, I found the doors in the villa were open and there was blood everywhere, so I escaped to the Research Center. We met the doctors after we escaped..."

Her explanation was vague, and its authenticity could only fool the Grants.

Sun Cheng met her gaze, his eyes flickered, and in the end, he didn't say anything more.

It was Doctor Saitele who hugged Doctor Grant's arm and said: "Thanks to Miss Ada, she drove a large vehicle out of the Research Center's Garage and saved us and the others... I mentioned to Miss Ada that you might be outside searching for others. When we found Alan and the others, he also mentioned hearing the sound of you using a Hand Grenade. Later, we heard an explosion coming from here, and we were worried that something had happened to you, so we drove over to see the situation..."

Sun Cheng looked at Alan Grant in surprise; he hadn't expected this guy to be near the E Zone at that time. He must have encountered a Tyrannosaurus Rex and hidden, otherwise, since he had crossed the entire Canyon, it would have been impossible for him not to run into him.

The group chatted for a few moments, all feeling confused about the explosion at the Exhibition Center.

Sun Cheng, however, pushed the responsibility onto Major Daqi, "I also came over after hearing the explosion. I saw Major Daqi in the pool over there; he is injured, and his condition is very bad right now. The previous explosion should have been related to him..."

After finishing, just as he was about to take them to the pool, Ada Wong suddenly looked up toward the sky.

Sun Cheng, who had been distracted by her, couldn't help but follow her lead and look up at the sky. Sure enough, he faintly saw a few black dots flickering in the sky.

Dozens of seconds later, the black dots grew larger and larger in everyone's sight, accompanied by a roaring sound. It was already clear that these were several military helicopters with weapon units hanging underneath.

After circling the island for a while, seemingly having spotted them on the ground, one of the helicopters quickly adjusted its direction and flew toward them.
