Chapter 190: A One-Man War (5)
"Boom!"
Following a series of explosions, Ironhide quickly landed at the bottom of the missile silo.
After landing, he first vigilantly rolled toward a place where he could take cover, then scanned his surroundings for a moment; only after confirming there were no other units nearby did Ironhide walk back out.
Although he had not discovered any targets nearby, Ironhide did not relax his vigilance; not only did he keep the grenade launcher in his right hand, but his left hand also summoned his laser cannon, which possessed power even greater than Bumblebee's.
While walking cautiously toward the spot where he had just destroyed the target, Ironhide did not forget to mock, "Hey, boy, are you Decepticons all just a bunch of disgusting, stinking rats that only know how to hide in dark corners?"
The taunt received no response, and Ironhide did not take it to heart.
He soon arrived at the target he had destroyed, looked down at the pile of scrap metal on the ground, and frowned slightly, "Just a normal machine gun?"
Two beams of light immediately shot from his eyes and landed on the wreckage of the machine gun that had not been completely destroyed on the ground; the smile on Ironhide's face deepened a little.
"So that's it, you made some simple modifications to the machine gun to give it an automatic firing function..."
He soon laughed and raised his weapon, shouting to the surroundings, "Creative, but still a failing work... Also, is it because your tyrant Leader—Megatron is dead, that the Decepticons have begun to degenerate at the speed of light... and now you've started using the weapons of humans, whom you look down upon the most?"
After speaking, his gaze quickly fell on a monitor in the shadow of a nearby wall, and he raised the weapon in his hand, gesturing lightly toward it.
Inside Laboratory One, after the surveillance equipment transmitted Ironhide's provocation completely to Sun Cheng, a faint smile suddenly appeared on his expressionless face.
"Looking down on human intelligence?"
He sneered and snapped his fingers, and a gate that had originally been closed in front of Ironhide was immediately opened.
Sun Cheng watched with interest as Ironhide was startled, captured by the surveillance equipment, and did not care at all when Ironhide, subsequently embarrassed and angry, looked up and destroyed his surveillance equipment with a grenade; he whispered softly, "I've prepared a good dish for you, don't let me be too disappointed!"
After speaking, he stopped paying attention to Ironhide; his Core, through the monitors spread throughout the Base, quickly locked onto a wretched figure that had suddenly appeared at another entrance, and his eyes narrowed involuntarily.
"Only two Autobots?"
The missile silo could naturally not be the only entrance to this nuclear missile Base; in fact, not counting the two hidden passages the Worker units had dug after Sun Cheng occupied it, Base No. 1 originally had three entrances.
The most important entrance was used mainly for transporting supplies and personnel, located four kilometers away from the Base's missile silo, and connected to this place via a long tunnel.
In addition to this, the United States military had also opened a hidden nuclear warhead transport passage and an emergency passage that could be used to evacuate personnel and equipment in case of an emergency.
Obviously, although this nuclear missile silo had been abandoned for many years, it was, after all, a military facility built by the United States back then, and the N. E. S. T. troops therefore possessed all intelligence regarding it.
Sun Cheng had considered this from the very beginning, and he even realized that when the N. E. S. T. troops prepared to go down into the silo to wipe him out, they would inevitably consider blocking all exits to prevent him from escaping.
However, what he did not expect was that the other side had only dispatched two Autobots.
"A trap?"
Suspicious, he opened his Core to its full capacity, linked his consciousness to the hundreds of surveillance devices spread throughout the Base, and simultaneously searched frantically for those suspicious figures.
However, to his disappointment, apart from Ironhide and this short, fat Autobot whose name he could not call out, he did not capture any other suspicious figures.
"The automatic warning machine guns also didn't react, which means the losses outside the Base might be much more serious than I imagined!"
A bit of secret joy welled up in his heart, and the smile on Sun Cheng's face grew thicker.
Previously, upon realizing that he might have been discovered by the United States military, he immediately arranged for his Decepticon Worker units to deploy a large number of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, as well as surveillance equipment, within dozens of kilometers outside the Base.
However, from the very beginning, Sun Cheng had never expected these things to cause much loss to the incoming United States military and Autobots.
He did not even hold much expectation for the six automatic land-based Missile systems that he had painfully deployed and that the Worker units had modified.
Sun Cheng's real trump card was the two long boxes he had personally selected the locations for and buried!
What was inside them was no ordinary thing, but Energy Bombs modified by Atlas and the others based on the Hunter Civilization's individual auxiliary equipment.
Strictly speaking, the Hunter Civilization was just a civilization that had just mastered the advanced application of energy, but perhaps because their energy technology tree had not climbed as high as Cybertron, they had accidentally unlocked the energy bomb branch of the technology tree, thus giving birth to individual auxiliary equipment—a terrifying piece of gear that could provide stable power to the equipment on a Hunter's body and could also be used as a bomb at any time.
One must know that Cybertron had always focused on the structural stability of high-concentration energy and had never thought of actively breaking that stable structure to let it erupt with terrifying lethality.
It was precisely because of the technical reference from the Hunter Civilization that Atlas and the others finally created a terrifying Energy Bomb with an explosive power equivalent to nearly a thousand tons of high explosives.
However, this kind of Energy Bomb was very troublesome to manufacture, and the energy it consumed was simply too much.
The two previously used were already all the stock Sun Cheng had on hand!
For this reason, Base No. 2 had exhausted all its energy reserves, and even the manufacturing of industrial robots had been affected.
These things aside, it was clear that the power of those two Energy Bombs exceeded imagination; although Sun Cheng was staying in an underground bunker that could withstand nuclear strikes, he had still felt the violent tremors when they exploded outside earlier.
After realizing this, Sun Cheng knew that his goal had been achieved and he could prepare to evacuate at any time.
However!
When his gaze again passed through the surveillance equipment and locked onto Ironhide, who was still mocking him in various ways, and that strange, short, fat Autobot, the smile on his face could not help but become a bit more ferocious.
If one can complete a test paper with a score of one hundred, never hand it in with ninety!
This was Sun Cheng's consistent style!
Seeing the proud and conceited Ironhide being led toward the Electromagnetic Trap he had set up, Sun Cheng moved his hand and immediately summoned his Plasma Cannon.
After walking out of the now-empty Laboratory without looking back, he immediately contacted two Combat Robots that were rushing toward Ironhide through his Core, and led them toward the other Autobot.
Sun Cheng also hurried toward that location!
Since the Autobots had already set their sights on him, this time he would not only make the United States military suffer heavy losses, but as for the Autobots, how could Sun Cheng care about offending them a little more!
