Chapter 217: Meeting Vladimir (Seeking Subscriptions)
November 27th, the traditional Russian Mother's Day.
After spending the afternoon processing government documents, Vladimir returned to the Presidential Residence from his office.
Because the Hero Mother Banquet was to be held that evening as it was every year, he could rest for a while in the residence before the banquet.
In his private lounge, he lay on a massage chair imported from Japan, relaxing his body while listening to old, out-of-fashion Soviet tunes with his eyes closed.
Suddenly, a series of urgent knocks came from outside the lounge.
Vladimir frowned slightly; he did not like his private time being occupied.
However, as the leader of Russia, Vladimir also knew that no one would disturb him unless there was an urgent matter.
Immediately, he turned off the music and said, "Come in..."
The door to the lounge was quickly opened, and four or five fully armed Presidential Palace security personnel immediately walked in quickly.
"Mr. President, the residence has been invaded. Please come with us to the emergency shelter immediately!"
"Invaders..."
Vladimir's expression suddenly sank. "Is it a coup?"
Having come from the former Soviet intelligence agencies, he had been very attentive to the control of intelligence agencies since he began governing this country.
In order to seek re-election, Vladimir naturally knew that he had numerous political enemies within the country, among whom were those who took foreign funding and were bent on forcing him out of office.
But what he did not expect was that the intelligence agencies had not given him any warning.
The security personnel looked somewhat anxious and hurriedly stepped forward to help him up from the massage chair. Among them, his personal bodyguard took out a set of body armor to put on him, while shaking his head and replying: "We are not sure. We only heard the alarm bells ringing; it should have been triggered by the guards outside. Although the situation is still unclear, we still need to follow protocol: protect you to a safe place first, then investigate the situation..."
Vladimir nodded and cooperated as they put the body armor on him.
Even if it were a false alarm, the president's safety indeed followed a complete set of procedures; this was the same in every country.
After putting on the body armor and being tightly protected in the middle by his security personnel, Vladimir walked out of the lounge. The group walked quickly toward an emergency evacuation passage in the Presidential Residence, preparing to head to the emergency shelter.
Inside the Presidential Residence, things were in complete chaos at this moment.
Inquiries and shouting could be heard everywhere, making Vladimir frown as he thought to himself that the usual drills clearly weren't up to par.
However, in this emergency, he could not worry about that much.
As more security personnel arrived, the team protecting him quickly expanded to twenty or thirty people.
The group was rushing toward the room where the emergency evacuation passage was located, but before they could even reach the place, Vladimir suddenly heard a loud bang from ahead.
The team instinctively protected him and looked for cover nearby to hide. Vladimir poked his head out to look toward where the sound came from, and the figure of a tall, burly, and ferocious mechanical giant immediately entered his sight.
"Huh..."
His expression suddenly froze. Vladimir looked at the intruder who had suddenly broken into his residence with some disbelief. If he remembered correctly, this mechanical giant looked very familiar; it was strikingly similar to the mechanical giant that had troubled him for a full half-month, which the Russian high-level officials had named the 'Severodvinsk Phantom'.
Just as he was shocked, the mechanical giant that had broken through the wall and entered the Presidential Residence seemed to notice them as well. Vladimir even clearly saw a hint of a smile on that slightly ferocious metal face as it walked straight toward him.
Upon seeing the mechanical giant walking over, the security personnel surrounding and protecting Vladimir immediately became even more panicked. Following a loud shout, "Quick... protect the President and leave..."
The next moment, all the bodyguards aimed their weapons at the mechanical giant and pulled the triggers.
"Pop..."
"Pop-pop..."
Bullets kept landing on the mechanical giant's body, but it was as if they were just scratching an itch for him.
Vladimir's expression was somewhat stagnant; he clearly saw that the mechanical giant did not care at all about the bullets fired by his bodyguards.
However, when it walked to within two or three meters of him, it stopped and said in a hollow, cold, yet very standard Russian: "My deepest apologies, Mr. President. I came to your residence today with sincerity, wanting to meet with you and discuss some topics that both you and I are very interested in. However, when I tried to have someone inform you, it seems there was a problem with some of the links. For this, I am very sorry!"
Bullets were still hitting his body continuously, and the mechanical giant began to look slightly displeased. He reached out and waved in front of him, and when he showed his palm again, it already held more than a dozen bullet heads.
In front of Vladimir and his bodyguards, he casually dumped the caught bullet heads onto the ground. The mechanical giant spoke again: "Let me introduce myself. My name is Frenzy, leader of the Reformist Faction of the Decepticon Legion. Like the Autobots who have already reached cooperation with the United States, I am a Mechanical Life from the planet Cybertron! Today, I come with sincerity, wanting to make a deal with you and this country."
Seeing that he had never made any extreme reactions that threatened his personal safety, and also realizing that the weapons equipped by his personal bodyguards were simply insufficient to cause any damage to this mechanical giant.
Vladimir then said in a deep voice, "Cease fire..."
"Yes..."
The security personnel protecting him clearly also noticed that they could not pose a threat to this mechanical creature who called himself 'Frenzy'. Although they were somewhat unwilling, they moved their gun barrels away.
Of course, everyone tacitly took the opportunity to reload their weapons, and some even carefully took out their communicators to secretly call for help from the guards outside.
Sun Cheng watched all these small movements with interest. Vladimir clearly noticed this as well. After a light cough, he asked in a somewhat stiff voice: "Mr. Frenzy, you previously stole one of our submarines in Severodvinsk, and now you have broken into my residence without an invitation, causing numerous casualties. This is not a display of sincerity."
Shrugging his shoulders, Sun Cheng did not deny the other party's probing. Stealing a Typhoon-class ballistic missile nuclear submarine from the Severodvinsk Shipyard was originally intended to attract the other party's attention, so he naturally would not deny it.
As for the dissatisfaction in Vladimir's words, he smiled and said softly: "Mr. President, I can assure you that not a single one of your soldiers has been killed or injured. In fact, in order to see you as soon as possible and discuss a business deal with you, I used a few sonic grenades. They will only cause your soldiers to be temporarily deaf and unconscious; they will fully recover in two days at most."
"Sonic grenades..."
Upon hearing this, Vladimir's expression softened slightly.
He looked at the ferocious mechanical giant in front of him seriously once more, and only after a long while did he slowly ask: "Then, Mr. Frenzy. Could you tell me what kind of business you want to discuss with us?"
