Chapter 226: The Peculiar Giant Stone (Seeking Subscriptions)

~8 min read 1,460 words

In the sea of sand in the Lop Nur region, there is a giant stone, upon which is carved an ancient Cybertronian Script.

Back when he was still partnered with Barricade, in order to search for information on Megatron and the 【AllSpark】, he had repeatedly hacked into the internet to hunt for suspicious clues.

As it turned out, he really did find them on the internet; those Cybertronians who had arrived on Earth in the distant past had left behind text on Earth, and in quite significant numbers, too.

These visitors from beyond the stars, from Cybertron, left deep imprints on Earth.

Among these imprints, the oldest ones likely have a history of at least ten thousand years or more, and most were discovered within the deity worship of some primitive murals.

Regarding the sea of sand in Lop Nur, if Sun Cheng remembered correctly, he had once seen the Cybertronian Script carved into a giant stone in a photograph taken by a former Soviet Union explorer in the Lop Nur region.

That character was still saved within his Core, but because it was Elder Script, Sun Cheng had no way to decipher what that character actually meant.

"Strange, truly strange! A remote planet located on the edge of the galaxy, so far away from the planet Cybertron. But why would Cybertronians have come to Earth in the distant past? And looking at the quantity, it should definitely be more than just one batch or a few individuals? Could it be that they were also searching for the 【AllSpark】? Or was there something else hidden on Earth that attracted them?"

These doubts had taken root and sprouted in his mind ever since he learned that the Chinese side had confirmed the meeting location would be in Lop Nur.

Added to that, they had later encountered Sideways and the Constructicons by chance, and from them, he had accidentally learned about The Fallen, and that he was searching for the 【Matrix of Leadership】.

It was also from that time on that Sun Cheng began to pay attention to that giant stone in the sea of sand in the Lop Nur region.

This trip to China and Russia could be considered a success; he had basically obtained everything he wanted.

It could be foreseen that the coming period of time would inevitably be very busy.

Therefore, while he still had time and was rarely in Lop Nur himself, he prepared to go and search for that giant stone carved with the Elder Script to see if he could discover any clues.

Thanks to that former Soviet Union explorer who had once photographed the giant stone, he had also left the geographical coordinates of the giant stone's location in his records.

Sun Cheng continuously identified the location by comparing it with satellite imagery, and soon he found the desert area where the giant stone was located.

However, after descending from the sky, he could not help but frown.

Sun Cheng looked out; before him was a vast, boundless desert, giving one the illusion that it was even infinite.

There were few conspicuous things in this sea of sand; due to past nuclear tests and the destruction caused by nomadic tribes and farming over the past few hundred years, vegetation could no longer be seen, and only occasionally could one see one or two withered Populus euphratica trees and Haloxylon ammodendron.

"As expected, the coordinates left on the photo are not accurate..."

His frown relaxed after a while; Sun Cheng walked aimlessly on the sand, a situation that was actually within his expectations.

After all, if the information on the internet was correct, that former Soviet Union explorer arrived at Lop Nur in the 1940s; with the exploration equipment and surveying technology of that era, one could at most roughly distinguish latitude and longitude, and to find that giant stone in this vast desert would still take some effort.

That is, provided it had not been destroyed.

After searching aimlessly in the surroundings for a while, Sun Cheng gradually lost his patience.

With a wave of his hand, he took out the seven Combat Robots again, transmitted the photo of the giant stone saved in his Core to them, and after giving them the order to search, Sun Cheng himself flew up to an altitude of several tens of meters and activated his Core to search back and forth across the sea of sand for several tens of kilometers around.

Hard work pays off; when he searched to seventeen kilometers to the southwest, his Core unexpectedly scanned that in a sand dune in the sea of sand below, a foreign object was blocking the penetration of electromagnetic waves.

The data fed back indicated that this should be an irregular object about six meters high and weighing, he feared, around seventy or eighty tons.

Hurriedly descending from the sky, Sun Cheng circled the sand dune, and his heart could not help but settle.

"It should be right here..."

After increasing his Core output, stronger electromagnetic waves were continuously emitted from his body, penetrating toward the bottom of the sand dune.

Soon, after constructing a model in his Core from the data continuously fed back by the electromagnetic waves, a look of joy could not help but appear in Sun Cheng's eyes.

He could finally confirm that he had found that giant stone.

"Is that so, because too much time has passed... the sand blown by the strong winds has continuously piled up around the giant stone, eventually forming this sand dune over time..."

He stared at the sand dune in front of him, which was likely twenty or thirty meters high and had accumulated, he feared, no less than several thousand tons of sand.

With such a large workload, if he relied only on himself to excavate, it would take quite some time; Sun Cheng hurriedly issued a rendezvous order to the seven Combat Robots that were still searching for the giant stone everywhere.

However, the nearest Combat Robot was more than five kilometers away from him.

Therefore, after issuing the rendezvous order, he started digging into the sand dune himself first.

This process lasted until more than two hours later, when with the addition of the seven Combat Robots, Sun Cheng and the others finally dug through the sand dune and completely exposed the giant stone that had been buried underneath.

"Whew..."

He could not help but let out a long breath; although the Decepticon body could not feel fatigue, the long, dull, and monotonous work of digging sand still caused his spirit to feel a faint sense of exhaustion.

Waving his hand to order the seven Combat Robots surrounding him to step back a bit, Sun Cheng also stepped back two paces, carefully examining the giant stone he had spent so much effort digging out from under the sand dune.

This stone was exactly the giant stone carved with Cybertronian Script that Sun Cheng had seen on the internet, the one photographed by that former Soviet Union explorer.

The stone was very tall; because the sand and gravel attached to the surface had been cleared away during the excavation, the true face of the giant stone was revealed. From the color and texture of the stone, it was not hard to see that this should be a huge piece of granite.

His gaze lingered for a while on the Cybertronian Script carved onto the giant stone, and Sun Cheng had a thoughtful look on his face.

No wonder the former Soviet Union explorer who first discovered it would think that this giant stone was a sacred stone used for sacrifice by some ancient tribe in the Lop Nur region, because the Cybertronian Script carved on the stone looked exactly like a huge eyeball, only it appeared to be too high, located at a position about four meters up the stone body.

"At this height, could it be that it was personally carved by some Decepticon or perhaps an Autobot who had arrived on Earth in the distant past and come here?"

Sun Cheng did not recognize the eyeball-shaped Cybertronian Script on the stone; he had asked Barricade about it before, and according to him, this was Elder Script, a type of text created by the Primes during the era of the Ancient Council, which was even more mysterious and ancient. Except for the Leaders and a few scientists on the planet Cybertron, it was estimated that no one else would know what it actually meant.
