Chapter 241: Illusion

~7 min read 1,243 words

Upon entering the Underground Karst Cave, before even reaching the Warehouse, Sun Cheng saw a sullen, foul-faced figure wandering around the Base.

It was Brawl!

This Newborn Decepticon, whom Sun Cheng had captured in Brazil not long ago, was currently being kept prisoner by him inside Base No. 2.

It was indeed imprisonment!

As for the reason, one only needed to look at the four Combat Robots following him closely, as well as Frenzy, to know.

Within the entire Base No. 2, no one besides Sun Cheng could keep Brawl in check.

Yet, Sun Cheng did not want his contacts with China and Russia to be exposed too early; being able to keep it hidden for even one more month held countless benefits for him.

Therefore, he did not let Brawl come into contact with this matter.

Before his trip to North Port, Sun Cheng left Brawl behind. To prevent this guy from stirring up trouble, he also left behind quite a few hidden measures. Besides installing controls within Brawl's Core that temporarily disabled his long-range communication functions, Frenzy also received control methods from him to keep Brawl in check.

This led to the scene of Brawl wandering around the Base with a foul, sullen face.

Seeing Sun Cheng, Brawl's eyes darted, and he turned his head to walk toward the other side of the Base.

Sun Cheng was also clear on the fact that he had not submitted to him willingly.

Seeing Brawl's vexed demeanor, he merely narrowed his eyes and stared at the other's back, his gaze lingering for a moment before moving away.

One month!

At most, one more month!

Once his New Body was completed, let alone Brawl, even if Barricade, Bumblebee, or Sideswipe came again, he would have the confidence to make them suffer a great loss.

By then, as long as Brawl wasn't a fool, he should understand who it was the right choice to pledge loyalty to!

The Warehouse of Base No. 2 was, in fact, that massive underground space within the Underground Karst Cave, which was as large as several football fields.

Sun Cheng had originally intended to use this place as his Laboratory!

However, later, in order to house the Hunter's spaceship, after much deliberation, this place was the most spacious area within the entire Base No. 2.

He simply designed it himself and had Atlas arrange for the Workers to carry out a full set of reinforcement and anti-vibration treatments before using it as the Base's Warehouse.

However, since the Warehouse space was large enough, Sun Cheng simply partitioned off a section in the innermost corner and had the Workers build him a private storage room out of reinforced concrete.

The entrance to the Warehouse had already been sealed by a door made of high-strength alloy steel.

However, it was not a password-protected door, merely a somewhat bulky gate.

The true guards of the Warehouse were the two Combat Robots arranged inside and outside; their internal alert systems were designed by Sun Cheng himself, inspired by the security systems of the Decepticon Legion fortresses found in Frenzy's Memory Data.

He believed that even if an intrusion occurred, relying on the four Combat Robots, at least issuing a timely warning was still possible!

Just as he approached the Warehouse, Sun Cheng was locked onto by four scanning beams.

He let the two Combat Robots responsible for security scan him, and after his identity was verified, they retreated in unison, while the bulky alloy gate was slowly pulled into the adjacent wall by a traction system designed by the Workers.

Without even looking at the two alert Combat Robots inside the Warehouse, Sun Cheng walked straight in.

Choosing a spacious area near the entrance, he waved his hand and retrieved as much as a thousand tons of finished metal ingots from his Spherical Space, then found an empty spot not far away to take out the Enriched Uranium that had already been processed by the Russian side.

After carefully finishing everything, he suddenly realized something and couldn't help but smile.

Nuclear radiation, such a thing, naturally had an effect on Mechanical Life as well.

But compared to humans, that bit of influence was nothing at all.

After putting the items down, Sun Cheng let out a long sigh of relief. Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly seemed to remember something, walked quickly out of the Warehouse, and headed toward his Laboratory.

If one were to speak of the most heavily guarded area in the entire Base, it was undoubtedly where his Laboratory was located.

Sun Cheng's Laboratory was located deep within the Base, likely nearly a hundred meters below ground, and several kilometers away from the entrance of the karst cave.

Like the Warehouse, his Laboratory was originally a Dixiadongku naturally formed by the uncanny workmanship of nature.

However, his Laboratory was far from being as large as the Warehouse; the originally naturally formed cave was less than two standard basketball courts in size.

It was only later that Sun Cheng took a fancy to this place, and Atlas assigned some Workers to perform operations here, which resulted in the current vastness, comparable to a standard football field.

Since it was his Laboratory, the defense was naturally not simple. He personally designed a full set of security systems here, operated by the Calculator he obtained from the raid there; without his permission, Atlas and the others would be warned as soon as they approached.

If a violent intrusion were encountered, that supercomputer manufactured on Cybertron, which possessed impressive intelligence, would automatically send a distress signal to Sun Cheng; the security was only higher, not lower, than that of the Warehouse.

Just as he arrived in front of the Laboratory door, the door opened immediately.

Sun Cheng was not surprised by this and walked in quite casually.

The moment he stepped into the Laboratory, the originally pitch-black room suddenly became brightly lit.

A cold mechanical voice followed, "Master, you have returned..."

Sun Cheng looked toward the sound and saw that on one side of the Laboratory, a strangely shaped machine had already projected the image of a young man.

The voice just now came from this Calculator transferred to him by the raid; it was now called 'Tianwo' and was a supercomputer manufactured on Cybertron that possessed impressive artificial intelligence.

"I have returned..."

His gaze lingered for a moment on the image of the young man projected by 'Tianwo', and Sun Cheng always felt it was a bit strange.

The image used by 'Tianwo' came from one of the few photos stored in Sun Cheng's database, and the person captured in the photo was none other than himself.

As a result, after letting 'Tianwo' use his own image from the real world, he couldn't help but feel strange every time he saw the projection.

Unfortunately, 'Tianwo' did not know this and was still using its hollow, emotionless mechanical voice to ask: "Master, I have made four more modifications to the No. 1 research project you left behind. The No. 2 research project is still being followed up on... As for No. 3, I discovered some changes in it just yesterday. Do you need to go take a look?"

The moment the mechanical voice fell, Sun Cheng's expression changed drastically!
