Chapter 271: The CIA's Investigation Report
John Sangster, 53 years old this year, was serving as the Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, which is what outsiders call the "Deputy Director."
If one were to underestimate him simply because his job title contains the word "Deputy," one would definitely suffer a great loss.
Because the Central Intelligence Agency, also abbreviated as the "CIA," is the world's largest intelligence organization and has four main components under its jurisdiction: the Directorate of Intelligence, the Directorate of Support, the Directorate of Operations, and the Directorate of Science and Technology.
And this Deputy Director, John Sangster, is precisely the person in charge of the CIA's Directorate of Intelligence and Directorate of Support.
He is responsible for the daily management of over 60 percent of CIA employees and over 90 percent of civilian personnel; it can be said that within the headquarters building, his authority is second only to the Director.
When Willis arrived, John Sangster was taking a phone call.
Seeing him enter, Sangster nodded slightly at him, but gave no further indication.
As one of the CIA's Senior Agents, Willis naturally knew the taboos.
Therefore, upon entering Sangster's office, he stood honestly to one side, feigning a look of patient waiting.
Yet his ears pricked up involuntarily, as if he wanted to hear some information from his superior's phone call that would be beneficial to his own promotion.
Unfortunately, Willis was to be disappointed.
By the time he arrived, Sangster's call was already nearing its end and was hung up shortly after.
After hanging up the phone, John Sangster immediately looked at Willis, stood up, picked up a pot of what appeared to be freshly brewed instant coffee from his desk, took two paper cups, filled them, and walked toward him while carrying them.
"You're back, sit..."
"Thank you, sir!"
Willis took the coffee he handed over, but did not sit down; he only took a sip before placing the coffee on a side table, and proactively said with a serious expression: "Sir, during my trip to Central America this time, I have organized all the intelligence I could collect, and it is all here. Please take a look!"
Sangster nodded slightly, then also placed his coffee to the side, took the file Willis handed him, but did not rush to open it, instead asking: "Sit down, tell me about the situation you understand first!"
"Yes!"
Only then did Willis respond and sit down on the nearby sofa, and after organizing his thoughts slightly, he began to speak.
More than twenty days ago, the "Planetary Defense Coordination Office" (PDCO) under NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), which is dedicated to monitoring asteroids that may pose a threat to Earth, captured a flight trajectory of what was suspected to be a meteor descending to Earth.
As the aerospace agency with the most advanced equipment on Earth, NASA possesses the world's most advanced monitoring equipment and the most complete database of near-Earth asteroids on the planet.
When the PDCO first captured this flight trajectory, they only regarded it as a common meteor, but still followed routine procedure to perform a comparison against their database.
However, to the PDCO's surprise, the results of the comparison unexpectedly told them that among all the asteroids recorded by NASA that could potentially descend to Earth in the near future, there was no information regarding this one.
As they continued their research, more suspicious points soon emerged.
After several of NASA's aerospace and dynamics experts made inferences based on the recorded flight data and orbit, they actually reached a conclusion that shocked everyone.
"This is not a flight trajectory formed by a normal asteroid falling to Earth; from the perspective of propulsion, it looks more like a spacecraft!"
The subsequent events can be imagined!
The PDCO notified the "Federal Emergency Management Agency" (FEMA) and the Ministry of National Defense of this discovery with extremely high efficiency; as a country that has always been committed to searching for extraterrestrial civilizations, the speed and efficiency of the American high-level officials can be described as astonishing.
Soon, several satellites belonging to the U. S. military locked onto the location where the suspected spacecraft crashed—southwest of Costa Rica—based on the information transmitted by the PDCO, and discovered the private island named "Nublar" near the suspected crash site.
Subsequently, the military immediately dispatched a special forces unit, which infiltrated "Nublar Island" overnight by helicopter, attempting to find traces of the possible spacecraft.
However, only a few hours after arriving on "Nublar Island," that elite special forces unit lost all contact with the U. S. military.
No matter how they called, they could not contact that team of elite special forces, and even the emergency positioning systems installed in their equipment had been destroyed.
However, this terrible scene actually piqued the interest of the U. S. military and the U. S. government.
Some high-level officials even began to believe that what they might be tracking could truly be a spaceship from an extraterrestrial civilization.
And so, the military urgently recruited another team of even better special forces, namely Daqi shao xiao and the support team he led, and cajoled them into going to "Nublar Island."
But, the unexpected happened once again.
After one night, the island seemed to have undergone a terrifying upheaval.
Daqi shao xiao and his subordinates were either dead or missing; by the time reinforcements arrived the next day, he was the only one left alive from the entire team.
What exactly happened that night?
Was there really an alien spaceship on the island, or even living aliens?
What exactly did Daqi shao xiao and his team, as well as the previous special forces unit, encounter?
All of this is what the United States is urgently trying to know.
However, considering the sensitivity of the incident.
The CIA, which had already been involved in the whole affair, naturally took the lead and once again took charge of the follow-up investigation work for the entire matter.
Tom Willis, a Senior Agent of the CIA's Directorate of Intelligence, was the person in charge of the follow-up investigation Task; nine days ago, he was first sent to Houston to visit Daqi shao xiao, who was receiving treatment at a naval hospital, and then went to Guantanamo and Costa Rica.
Today is the day he returns to report to his superiors.
"... I went to the naval hospital, and Daqi shao xiao told me that he and his team encountered some strange creatures on the island; they were tall and strong, proficient in combat, and could remain invisible for long periods through some equipment. Daqi shao xiao's team members were almost all killed at the hands of the other party. However, regarding the number of these invisible creatures, he recalled only encountering one, and did not encounter more."
"I applied to review the records of the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base; the naval rescue team rescued some survivors on the island while heading to 'Nublar Island' to rescue Daqi shao xiao and his men. After comparison, the suspicion of many targets can basically be ruled out. However, I also discovered two suspicious individuals on the list of survivors!"
"Ada Wong, a young Chinese-American woman; her background is easy to investigate, clean and clear. But I contacted the 'Atlas Venture Capital Fund,' and they confirmed to me that there is no such person. I had my subordinates check her past medical and transportation information, and the result was also a blank; what is certain is that this woman has problems..."
"As for another Chinese male named 'Sun Cheng,' although I confirmed through some channels that his identity is not a problem, considering his status as a Chinese national, I have also included him on the list of suspects requiring key investigation..."
