Chapter 285: Adding Fuel to the Fire

~8 min read 1,547 words

Ever since she got into the car, Ada Wong had been sitting quietly in the back seat, no longer making any other small movements.

Watching her reactions vigilantly through the rearview mirror, Sun Cheng felt slightly at ease.

Suspicious by nature, he had kept a close eye on this woman, with whom he had once shared a night of intimacy, ever since they parted ways in San Jose.

However, despite having the Decepticon Scout—which possessed the most powerful network intrusion capabilities in this world—at his disposal, he had still failed to gather any real information about Ada Wong.

It could be said that it was precisely because this woman was so mysterious that, even though she possessed charm no less than Ye Qi's, she could not stir much of a feeling of excitement in Sun Cheng.

Fighting alone in the Transformers world had made suspicion almost an instinct for him!

The other girl, Xiao Lan, was quite spirited; after getting into the car, she hugged her small bag to her chest and took the initiative to ask curiously, "Little Brother, how did you and Sister Ai meet?"

"Hmm?"

Sun Cheng was just about to start the car when her sudden question made his movements falter.

He turned his head to look at Xiao Lan, his gaze happening to meet Ada Wong's, and upon discovering the faint smile on that woman's face, his heart couldn't help but stir; he retorted, "Go ask her. I'm actually more curious about how you two came to know Miss Ada!"

Before he finished speaking, he took a deep look at the woman, who showed not the slightest trace of anything unusual on her face, and spat out the last few words with pointed meaning: "She, after all, is quite an incredible person!"

"Really? Could it be just like the rumors online, that she's actually an incredible, super-rich woman?"

The woman named Xiao Lan clearly didn't notice Sun Cheng's probing and very easily spilled some information that Sun Cheng was quite interested in.

After speaking, the girl didn't forget to hug Ada Wong's left arm in a coquettish manner and asked affectionately, "Sister Ai, tell me?"

"President Sun is teasing me again. I'm not some super-rich woman; at best, I'm just a small lackey for a venture capital fund..."

Ada Wong explained to Xiao Lan in a soft voice with a charming yet confident smile.

Afterwards, she looked up at Sun Cheng, who was glancing over at her, as if she were carefully sizing him up; her gaze lingered on his face for quite a while, and she even stared back at him for several seconds without a care, before she let out a chuckle and said with pointed meaning, "It's only been a little over a month, but President Sun has changed so much. You're even harder to deal with than when we were discussing that venture capital deal in San Jose last time..."

"A mouth full of nonsense!"

Waves rose slightly in Sun Cheng's heart, but he did not offer much of a rebuttal.

This woman was even trickier and harder to deal with than he had imagined; not knowing her purpose or identity, and with outsiders present, he decided to avoid any further direct verbal confrontation with her.

For now, he didn't reply, started the car, and drove out of the parking lot.

Perhaps because the morning rush hour had passed, the main road leading to Jichang was no longer congested as it had been before.

There were few vehicles on the road, and with the way clear, Sun Cheng was able to distract himself slightly.

Directly ignoring the two "light bulbs" in the back seat, he looked at Ye Qi, who had been sitting quietly in the passenger seat fiddling with that gift box ever since she got into the car, and said to her softly, "Open it and see, Sis. A little gift for you..."

With a smile in his eyes, he pursed his lips, signaling for Ye Qi to open the box she was holding in her arms.

"For me?"

Ye Qi held the box; she was a very smart woman. Her traveling with friends was a last-minute decision, and her brother clearly didn't know, so this item in the car that came to pick her up must be intended for her.

Smiling, she turned her face to look at him and asked curiously, "What's inside?"

After speaking, she even carefully gave it a light shake.

"A worthless little thing, nothing so precious. Why don't you just open it and see?"

Sun Cheng had no intention of telling her directly and shook his head slightly. Ye Qi nodded gently, looked down at the box in her hands, and was just about to open it.

Unexpectedly, Ada Wong, who was sitting in the back seat, suddenly spoke up: "Could you stop the car at that intersection ahead?"

The moment the voice rang out, Sun Cheng felt a wave of a woman's alluring body scent rush into his nose and mouth.

Subconsciously turning his head slightly, what met his eyes were two towering cloud peaks, with brown-red lace trim circling above them.

The next moment, having finally realized what he was looking at, he quickly raised his head, and sure enough, he saw a face—perfect, combining handsomeness, heroic spirit, and charm—right next to his head, within arm's reach.

It was none other than Ada Wong!

This woman was truly a seductive femme fatale in every sense of the word; she seemed to understand her own charm very well and was extremely adept at using it as a weapon.

So much so that Sun Cheng discovered, to his embarrassment, that he couldn't control his thoughts; despite being beside the woman he had secretly loved for years, his mind involuntarily recalled that night of intimacy with her a month ago at a hotel named Las Vegas in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.

His face couldn't help but flush slightly, and even with his impressive willpower, his palm gripping the steering wheel trembled briefly for an instant.

Upon noticing his wavering consciousness, he quickly took a deep breath and, pretending to be displeased, scolded softly, "Miss Ada, please do not perform such dangerous actions while riding in the car; you are blocking the rearview mirror!"

"Alright..."

Ada Wong gave a charming, slight smile and quickly turned back to sit in the back seat.

However, when Sun Cheng looked at her again through the rearview mirror, he found that the woman was staring straight at the mirror, as if she had been waiting for him to look over.

In that renewed eye contact, he clearly read the undisguised playfulness and triumph in her gaze.

That expression was as if some incredible handle of his had fallen into her hands, making an inexplicable fire rise in his heart for no reason.

Immediately, he stepped on the gas.

Sun Cheng instantly brought the car speed up to 120, and after a stretch of a hundred meters or so, the car soon arrived at that intersection.

"Screech..."

With a light sound of tires rubbing against the ground, the car finally came to a steady stop at the intersection Ada Wong had pointed out.

Seeing the car stop, Ada Wong reached for the car door to open it, not forgetting to turn back and smile as she said, "I have other things to attend to in Nandu, so Qiqi, Xiao Lan, let's part ways here for now; let's stay in touch in a couple of days!"

After bidding a lingering farewell to the two girls and retrieving her suitcase from the trunk, she waved her hand and took a mobile phone out of her pocket, appearing to be preparing to contact someone to pick her up.

This scene made Sun Cheng feel as if his heart were being scratched by a cat; this woman's mystery had long since made him suspicious, but he had never been able to find any leads.

But now, seeing an opportunity to follow the vine to the melon, the current situation did not allow him to carefully investigate Ada Wong's true identity.

Glancing at the remaining two people in the car, Sun Cheng hesitated for only a moment before decisively abandoning the plan to pursue her; he started the car in low spirits and continued toward the city center.

However, what he did not know was this.

By the side of the road, Ada Wong took a mobile phone with no brand logo on it from her pocket. Watching Sun Cheng's car drive away, she didn't even dial a number; she simply held the phone to her lips, her sexy red lips moving as she whispered, "Time: 3:00 PM, May 24, 2016 AD; Location: Nandu. Note: Successfully approached the target, though I seem to have been spotted by two little mice who came from afar. Although I feel a bit sorry for him, I have decided to add a little fuel to the fire..."

At the corners of her mouth, a triumphant smile after a prank was fully revealed.

PS:

Getting back to stable updates is much harder than I expected; my train of thought is intermittent, and I have to write, look, and think all at the same time.
