Chapter 309: Detonation (Part 1)
Jiangzhen Dianli Daxue, 3rd floor of a dormitory building in the South Campus.
"I'm back..."
Pushing open the dormitory door, Chu Yun, who had just returned from the library, walked in with a somewhat listless spirit.
"Second-eldest, you're back!"
In the dormitory, all of Chu Yun's roommates were present, not a single one missing.
The curriculum for third-year students at the university had decreased by nearly a third compared to the previous two years, and with more personal time, many students had become obsessed with online games.
For example, the few people in Chu Yun's dormitory would generally stay in the room when they had no classes to play a MOBA competitive online game from the United States, endorsed by the Panda Games Company under the Panda Communications Group—300 Heroes.
"Clap!"
Throwing his books onto the desk, Chu Yun poured himself a glass of water, tilted his head back, and downed more than half of it in one go, only then saying irritably: "Who on earth invented the insane system of final exams? The school year is about to end, and the summer vacation I've been looking forward to for half a semester is coming. Why, of all things, do we have to have exams before the school year ends..."
For college students, failing a course was truly a common occurrence.
Chu Yun rarely skipped class, and he didn't get distracted or fidget during lectures.
However, the university system was what it was; unlike high school, middle school, or elementary school, universities did not force students to study, and in fact, many domestic universities had their curricula for the final two years cut almost in half, following the heavier schedules of the first two years.
It was understandable that in such a relaxed learning environment, Chu Yun, who had nearly become the city's top scorer in the college entrance exam, could not avoid becoming somewhat decadent.
By the third year of university, apart from regular class hours, he rarely reviewed his studies in his spare time, to the point where he had failed a course for the first time in the previous semester's final exams.
"Who's to say otherwise..."
As he complained, a chorus of agreement immediately arose in the dormitory.
Chu Yun stood with his teacup and watched his roommates play the game for a while, but having no interest in this area, he soon felt a bit bored and turned to walk toward his computer desk.
Just as he pulled out his stool and sat down, the mobile phone placed on his desk suddenly rang.
Chu Yun picked it up and saw it was an unfamiliar number; after hesitating for a moment and answering, a young man's voice immediately sounded from the other end: "Is this Mr. Chu Yun? Hello, you have a delivery. I am outside the east gate of your Jiangzhen Dianli Daxue. Do you need me to leave it at the guard room for you?"
"A delivery?"
Chu Yun was slightly stunned for a moment; he remembered not having shopped online recently.
Just as he was about to ask the other party for details, a flash of inspiration suddenly struck Chu Yun's mind, and he abruptly remembered an event from the afternoon before yesterday, causing his expression to change slightly.
"I understand, please leave the delivery at the guard room, I'll be right over to pick it up!"
Hanging up the phone, he immediately stood up from his chair and prepared to walk out of the dormitory.
A roommate asked curiously: "What are you doing?"
"Picking up a delivery!"
After giving a hurried reply, Chu Yun walked quickly out of the dormitory and headed toward the school's east gate.
A few minutes later, when he arrived at the school's east gate, the courier who had delivered his package had already left, but the guard room appeared exceptionally lively, with five or six male and female students of similar age to him burying their heads in a pile of packages, searching for their own deliveries.
"Sir, I'm here to pick up a delivery!"
After speaking politely to the security guard, a slightly chubby man moved half his body aside to let him in, "Everything that was just delivered is here, go find it yourself."
"Got it, thanks!"
Chu Yun was in luck; as soon as he walked over, he saw a young man pick up a delivery package the size of a 32-mo book, and the recipient listed on it was none other than Chu Yun.
"Hi, friend. This should be my delivery..."
He spoke politely to the boy who was about to put it down and continue searching for his own package; the person turned his head to look at him, then nodded and handed it over.
"Thanks!"
Chu Yun thanked him, took it, and saw that the contact number displayed on it was indeed his own; then, looking at the 'Cybertron Technology Company' marked in the sender column, his joy was evident on his face.
"Could it really be true!"
Resisting the urge to open the package on the spot, and confirming that this was his delivery, Chu Yun left the guard room and ran all the way back to the dormitory building, pushing open the dormitory door with a 'bang' and rushing in.
The person closest to the door was Chu Yun's roommate Wang Ning. When he entered, Wang Ning and the others were in the middle of a game. After the door was pushed open with a bang, Wang Ning was truly startled. His hand movements slowed, and while he was controlling a half-health Crocodile in the top lane to duel a Bunny Girl Riven, he was hit by a full combo of light-speed QA and Ignite, his screen immediately went black, and he was sent back to the fountain.
Seeing this, Wang Ning immediately looked at Chu Yun unhappily, "Damn, Second-eldest, are you rushing to be reincarnated? You scared the hell out of me..."
"Hehe..."
Chu Yun gave him a silly grin, but his feet didn't slow down. He walked straight back to his computer desk, hurriedly pulled out his stool, sat down, and busied himself with opening the package he had brought back.
Wang Ning lit a cigarette for himself, and seeing that the respawn time was over thirty seconds, he irritably leaned over.
"What did you buy, looking so excited..." He teased his roommate Chu Yun as he walked over, and soon, as if thinking of something, his face couldn't help but carry a few lewd smiles, "Could it be... Damn, you repressed guy, you didn't buy some kind of sex toy, did you..."
As soon as these words were spoken, all the attention in the dormitory was immediately drawn over.
"... This game is hopeless, let's surrender..."
Sitting behind Chu Yun was his other roommate Lin Zhengyu. He was also playing 300 with Wang Ning at the time. Playing in the support position, he had gone to place a ward in his own jungle and was caught and killed by the opposing team, so he couldn't help but sigh and leave his computer.
Clearly, Lin Zhengyu had also heard Wang Ning's remark and couldn't help but turn around and lean toward Chu Yun's side as well.
"... Damn, Second-eldest, you didn't really buy some kind of toy online, did you..."
Chu Yun scanned the roommates who had leaned in with lewd expressions with an annoyed look, but his tongue was sharp: "Go away, go away, don't lump me in with you three perverts..."
His hands, however, were nimble, tearing open the outer packaging of the delivery in a few quick motions, immediately revealing a flat, hard paper box the size of a 32-mo book inside.
"What is it..."
As soon as Wang Ning, Lin Zhengyu, and the others saw him tear open the packaging, they all leaned in closer to Chu Yun. In an instant, the logo on the paper box, shaped like a fox mask and engraved as if with silver paint, full of metallic luster, appeared before them.
Seeing it, Chu Yun could no longer hide the excitement in his heart and grabbed the heavy box.
"It's real, it's real... Cybertron Technology Company didn't lie, it turns out that activating a permanent membership really does come with a portable hard drive!"
PS:
I spent almost the whole day in the hospital yesterday and really couldn't update. The old man at home had a happy event, but ended up drinking too much and went into shock on the spot. Fortunately, he was sent to the hospital in time, but for these past two days, the whole family has been taking turns watching over him at the hospital.
