Chapter 361: Ambitious Schemer (Part 2)
The gamble paid off!
The projection of Starscream that had appeared in the night sky was now completely gone.
Sun Cheng stared up toward the Moon with a cold expression, standing there silently for quite a while before turning his head to glance at the hulking Decepticon Warrior standing not far away, saying coldly: "You're called Scrapper, right? Since it's Starscream's request, from now on, you will stay here for the time being!"
The crisis in Severodvinsk has been temporarily resolved!
Just a moment ago, he had made a deal with Starscream, who was also an ambitious schemer—a deal built entirely on lies and distrust that could hardly even be called a deal.
Or perhaps it would be more appropriate to call it a tacit understanding!
Starscream would turn a blind eye to their activities in Russia; at least until he figured out the true strength of Sun Cheng and Attack, he likely wouldn't send anyone else here to probe them.
And there wasn't much Sun Cheng and his group needed to do. Starscream was very cunning and didn't make any demands targeting Megatron or other leaders of the Decepticon Legion, but he left Scrapper with Sun Cheng. Besides trying to figure out their strength, he likely also intended for him to act as a mouthpiece when necessary.
The hulking Decepticon Warrior waving two large pincers was Scrapper. The Decepticons were a race with a very strict hierarchy, and especially after witnessing Sun Cheng cleanly and efficiently finish off his three companions just a short while ago, and then engaging in a powerful dialogue with his own master—Starscream—Scrapper clearly felt fear toward him.
Hearing Sun Cheng speak, he looked at Sun Cheng with some trepidation and replied cautiously: "Since my master has ordered me to stay by your side, I will obey all your arrangements, Lord Frenzy!"
Sun Cheng gave him an extra look, nodded, and said nothing more. Just now, after Starscream dismissed his projection, Sun Cheng had intercepted an encrypted remote communication transmitted from the Moon; it was clearly Starscream giving instructions to this big guy.
It could only be said that Scrapper's appearance was too deceptive. Who would have thought that such a hulking warrior, who looked like a mindless brute, was actually the commander of the Decepticon squad that invaded Severodvinsk this time?
In fact, if Starscream hadn't just arranged for Scrapper to stay by his side, Sun Cheng probably wouldn't have realized this point.
"Hmm!"
Sun Cheng nodded coldly and stopped paying attention to him.
The crisis in Severodvinsk was resolved. Only after withdrawing his wariness toward Starscream and the slight unease from having his secrets exposed did he silently survey the small half of the city that was still burning from the recent battle, and Sun Cheng's brow furrowed involuntarily.
The trouble these Decepticons had caused now had to be cleaned up by him.
He immediately turned his head to look at the battered Trailbreaker and said to him: "Trailbreaker, go notify the Russian Army. The battle in Severodvinsk is over; tell them to lift the alert and prepare to search for and rescue the wounded!"
As for the Russian Army in Severodvinsk, in fact, when he had just arrived on the battlefield, most of the combat units had already been notified by Trailbreaker that they could stop providing fire support.
However, the military alert had never been lifted.
From the moment Sun Cheng entered the battlefield until the battle ended, and even until now, he could still feel those fire-control and radar locks densely covering his chassis. This feeling was not only impolite but also very uncomfortable for a Mechanical Life, because it was like someone standing next to you with a pistol pointed at you the whole time—it was terrible.
Moreover, an hour or more was enough for the Polar Bear to awaken its aging military defense system.
Sun Cheng's Core had already detected no fewer than a hundred various main combat aircraft of the Russian Air Force, as well as army and naval helicopters, entering the territory of Severodvinsk. The vanguard had even reached the area where the battlefield was located and was circling overhead on alert; most of the fire-control and radar sources locked onto Sun Cheng and his group came from them.
Having finally found a fairly decent ally in Russia, he didn't want to lose this pawn because of a small misunderstanding. After realizing the problem, he quickly instructed Trailbreaker, who had been stationed in Severodvinsk, to go and negotiate with the Russian Army.
"I understand, Master." Trailbreaker responded, propped up his scarred chassis, and immediately began to explain through the radio channel already established with the Russian Army.
Sun Cheng stopped worrying about him. Just as he was about to take Scrapper back to the shipyard in the naval port, he suddenly seemed to remember something. His cold gaze lingered on Scrapper until he made him feel completely uneasy, and only then did he snort coldly: "You lot have caused me quite a bit of trouble tonight..."
That was right. Just now, most of his mind had been calculating the gains and losses after being targeted by Starscream, so much so that he had only just remembered that one of the four Decepticons who invaded Severodvinsk tonight was now by his side.
Although Sun Cheng didn't know how much slaughter these guys had committed in one night, just seeing that a small half of the city had been set ablaze by the flames of war was enough to know that the loss of life and property would definitely make the Russians absolutely furious.
Scrapper was now a hot potato. The Russian Army definitely possessed image data of all the invaders, and as soon as they compared it, his identity would be exposed immediately.
Yet, in order to temporarily maintain the fragile foundation of trust between himself and Starscream, Sun Cheng had to keep Scrapper and ensure that nothing happened to him.
Therefore, even if he was unwilling, he had to clean up the mess these guys had made for Scrapper and the others.
At the thought of this, the expression on his face grew even gloomier. His unfriendly look made Scrapper, who was already terrified, tense his chassis; looking at him, one would fear he was worried Sun Cheng would immediately deal a lethal blow.
Sun Cheng certainly wouldn't attack him. He remotely controlled the Combat Robots in the shipyard, having them immediately recover the corpses of the three Decepticons who had just died at his hands, lest they fall into the hands of the Polar Bear.
Not long after, upon sensing that the fire-control and radar locks covering him had finally dissipated, he looked up and saw several armed helicopters escorting two Russian transport planes slowly landing on an open space not far from him. Subsequently, a team of Russian soldiers dressed in general's uniforms walked down from the transport planes.
Sun Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly. "Perhaps I need to make another trip to Moscow... No, that's not right. With such a big incident in Severodvinsk, Vladimir, who is about to leave office, definitely won't be able to sit still... This might be an opportunity, who knows..."
