Chapter 41: Clues (Begging for recommendations, collections, and rewards)

~8 min read 1,506 words

Thrown from mid-air by Laserbeak, Sun Cheng used the trunk of a North American sequoia to gain leverage, leaped, and performed a mid-air rotation before landing steadily on the ground.

After standing firm, he looked up at the sky again, but Laserbeak was nowhere to be found; that guy had clearly returned to protect Soundwave, who was about to enter hibernation.

After a simple search to confirm there were no humans nearby, Sun Cheng transformed back into his human form and sat down on the ground with a thud.

His life was saved!

This should be the thing he needed to be most grateful for right now; Sun Cheng truly had not expected Starscream to be so decisive in attacking Soundwave, who belonged to the same faction.

However, for him right now, this might not necessarily be a bad thing.

Judging by the injuries Soundwave sustained, this guy would likely need to hibernate for at least three to five years to complete the repair of his body.

"Perhaps that is why he let me go!" Sun Cheng realized in his heart.

It was clear that Soundwave was very worried that during the years he was forced into hibernation, Starscream would find the AllSpark; that guy had come to Earth decades ago, and if he hadn't already mastered accurate intelligence regarding the AllSpark, there was no reason Starscream would dare to attack Soundwave so blatantly.

Soundwave, while in hibernation, would be extremely vulnerable, so he had to leave the loyal Laserbeak behind to guard him.

But because of this, he had no one else at his disposal.

Sun Cheng pondered that this must be the reason why Soundwave, after discovering his memory had recovered, did not choose to finish him off immediately, but instead used a mix of threats and inducements to force Sun Cheng to work for him.

"Fortunately..."

After temporarily resolving the threat to his life, Sun Cheng couldn't help but feel excited.

Soundwave clearly did not know that he was no longer that 'Frenzy'; through the mysterious Spherical Space hidden somewhere in his body, Sun Cheng could completely leave this world and return to his original reality before Soundwave woke up again.

However, for him, this was undoubtedly the best result.

After quickly sorting through all his thoughts, Sun Cheng stood up, prepared to leave this nameless forest.

Although he understood that Onslaught would not be worried about him, after thinking about it, he still sent a remote communication to the other party, telling him that he had gone to see Soundwave and was temporarily not returning after being assigned a new Task.

After sending the communication, he looked at the dense forest all around.

He didn't know where Laserbeak had thrown him, but this didn't stump Sun Cheng.

He was different from a few days ago; Sun Cheng, having obtained a New Body, had seen a very significant increase in strength. Although he was far from being able to face an army head-on like Barricade and the others, his self-preservation ability had risen sharply, and he now had the ability to carry out tasks alone.

After simply identifying the direction by comparing it to the Sun, Sun Cheng transformed back into his beast form and ran southward, occasionally adjusting his route by using the animal trails and creek paths he discovered.

After galloping for more than half an hour, he finally caught sight of some wooden stakes left behind after manual logging.

Confirming that he was about to walk out of the forest, Sun Cheng couldn't help but feel a surge of energy.

Seeing that it was still early, he, being cautious, stayed on the edge of the forest until nightfall before quietly leaving the forest.

Groping his way toward a nearby human settlement to look around, Sun Cheng couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

There was no human city he had hoped for nearby, at most just a small town, looking like it only housed a few hundred families; if not for the American-style country villas lining the town, just based on this population, Sun Cheng felt it wasn't even as good as a village in the central or western parts of his home country.

After looking around carefully, Sun Cheng was completely disappointed; this was a standard American rural town, mainly focused on logging and animal husbandry. The town residents were very much like the boorish types in Western films; let alone every household having a computer, he snuck into more than a dozen houses in the dark and didn't find a trace of a computer.

Fortunately, by using road signs, he was able to confirm that he was currently in the state of Oregon, with Nevada a few dozen kilometers to the south, and Idaho more than two hundred kilometers to the east.

Finally knowing his current location, Sun Cheng couldn't help but start thinking.

In the next stage, he planned to find a larger human city to infiltrate in order to search for clues about the AllSpark.

It wasn't that Sun Cheng was truly bluffed by Soundwave and prepared to work for him.

But the fact that his Core had been tampered with by Soundwave was a real wake-up call, making Sun Cheng suddenly realize that he was in dire need of the AllSpark now.

From the beginning of his transmigration, he had already understood that the Core was the foundation of the Decepticons, but at that time he didn't quite understand why. It wasn't until Onslaught helped him design a brand-new body that Sun Cheng clearly realized that without a more powerful Core, even the strongest body was useless.

And it was not easy to obtain a Core; for one thing, he had no idea how to manufacture one. Even an Elite Warrior as powerful as Onslaught knew very little about the Core. It was estimated that only Decepticon giants like Starscream, Shockwave, and Megatron knew the method of manufacturing a Core.

Starscream had made a deal with him before; before the deal, Sun Cheng had obtained a Level 2 Core from him, but as for the higher-level Spark he had promised, Sun Cheng didn't dare to ask for it now.

Not to mention how much of Starscream's words were true or false, just the fact that half of the spoils were forcibly taken away by Onslaught made Sun Cheng feel that he might be subjected to his anger no matter how he thought about it.

Moreover, with that guy's personality being even worse than Soundwave's, he was unwilling to accept the pain of having his life controlled by others again.

He couldn't manufacture a Core himself, and the only big shot who could give him a Core—Starscream—was someone Sun Cheng couldn't trust at all.

As such, if he wanted to upgrade his Core and remove the threat Soundwave posed to him, the only method for Sun Cheng was to find the AllSpark.

The AllSpark, the supreme holy relic of the Decepticon race; originally, Sun Cheng knew almost nothing about it.

However, a while ago, while staying by Onslaught's side, he had used this as a topic to pry out quite a bit of intelligence.

According to Onslaught, the AllSpark might have originated from the ancient era of Cybertron—the Council of Ancients period. It was rumored to be an artifact created by one or even multiple ancients working together. It possessed nearly infinite energy and could grant life to machines. In the ancient era of Cybertron, all Decepticons and even Autobots were granted life by the AllSpark and evolved into stronger beings through it.

It was for this reason that Sun Cheng believed that if he could find the AllSpark, he would have a high probability of solving the problem of the Core within his body.

However, finding the AllSpark was not such an easy task.

Starscream's calculated schemes, Soundwave's close pursuit, Onslaught's waiting for an opportunity, and the Autobot that appeared briefly when the task ended that day, all indicated that the AllSpark might be on Earth, but Earth was so big that finding the AllSpark was not a simple matter.

"Right, I remember Onslaught mentioned that the AllSpark is a huge cube; if it landed on Earth, it would inevitably be mistaken for a meteorite by humans. Moreover, it is permeated with a power of Evolution, and any electronic machine that approaches it will be granted life and become a robot. If this is true, then there must be witnesses who left records..."

Finally having sorted out two important clues for finding the AllSpark, Sun Cheng felt a surge of energy. No longer hesitant as before, after just confirming the direction, he left the small town named 'Ogden Marsh' and continued south, heading toward Nevada.

PS:

Regarding the question of why the protagonist doesn't know about the Transformers world, if you look closely, I actually already explained it in the first chapter: the protagonist comes from another parallel world, and my setting is that there are no Transformers series anime or movies in that world.
