Chapter 426: Entering the Great Hall

~7 min read 1,367 words

Since he had already sensed that a spaceship from Cybertron might have crashed in this vicinity in the primordial past, how could Sun Cheng possibly restrain himself? He immediately called Mola and asked if any clues had been obtained from the murals inside the great hall.

"... Master, there are only murals in this great hall, no text of any kind... The few murals on this wall seem to tell the story of a Decepticon who once came to Earth. He was worshipped as a god by the ancient Indians who were still in the primitive era at the time, and it seems he eventually lived here..."

"This side tells of that Decepticon teaching humans astronomy, writing, calendars, and systems... helping them leap from the Stone Age into a Bronze Age civilization..."

"This part tells of a human born from a lake who, under the protection of that Decepticon, became the new Leader of that ancient Indian tribe... Under the command of this young Leader, they defeated and annexed countless tribes, captured numerous slaves, and then enslaved the defeated to build cities and temples for them... Among them, this Underground Pyramid beneath our feet was built under his command as a resting place for that Decepticon..."

The great hall only had murals on three walls, so when separated, they happened to be three sets of stories, which is why Mola could only interpret three segments.

Regarding this, Sun Cheng felt a faint irritability between his brows, but it was not as if he had gained nothing at all.

At the very least, he learned a few things: about three thousand years ago, a Decepticon came to the Americas and taught the ancient Indians, who were still in a primitive state, a great deal of knowledge.

The Maya Civilization on Earth in this world had actually been born through the hands of that Decepticon; although this resolved many doubts in his heart, it was not a very good answer.

Because the Maya Civilization was a slave society, and the Decepticon's attitude toward humans was basically no different from how one would view the cheapest laborers and slaves.

Therefore, he still could not determine whether the other party was a Pathfinder.

One must not underestimate the three characters "Pathfinder"; its presence meant that the possibility of an Ark-class spaceship being here would be infinitely elevated.

Although Sun Cheng had never personally come into contact with a spaceship manufactured by Cybertronians, judging from the murals, it was not difficult to infer that the ship was likely already damaged.

However, the pinnacle works of Cybertronian civilization were not so easily broken.

As long as it did not encounter the Cosmic Rust that could not be defended against at all, the body of an ordinary Decepticon, even if thrown into Earth's ocean, would take hundreds of years to be completely corroded, and the more powerful the Decepticon was in life, the slower the rate of corrosion after death.

That was why Sun Cheng was still so excited after learning that there was a high probability of a crashed spaceship here.

Because he knew very well that in Earth's short span of three thousand years, it was absolutely impossible to completely destroy a spaceship manufactured during the peak of the Cybertronian civilization.

Even if he could only obtain some fragments and parts from the wreckage, it would be no small gain; if he were lucky enough to obtain the ship's control computer and power system, then this trip would truly not have been in vain.

As for whether the corpse of a Pathfinder was buried inside the Underground Pyramid, Sun Cheng really did not hold much expectation.

Legend had it that Pathfinders were the most excellent Warriors of Cybertron; most such arrogant beings, when their lives reached their end, rarely chose to hibernate to wait for the possible rescue of their clansmen in the future.

Like the "General of the Giant Beasts" he had once encountered at Lop Nur, when his life reached its end, he silently detonated his own withering Spark and did not let his corpse remain.

Therefore, the possibility of finding spaceship wreckage here was much higher than the possibility of obtaining a Pathfinder's corpse.

"It seems there is nothing on this level..."

Sun Cheng said in a deep voice. He had just used his detection function to trigger all the mechanisms in the great hall, and he had also found the passage leading to the level below. However, that passage, only ten-odd meters long, was not even one and a half meters high; even a human would have to bend over to move forward, let alone someone of his massive size.

Moreover, there were no patterns or murals in the passage. Without further hesitation, Sun Cheng knew that Sprint must be keeping an eye on this place at all times.

So he just gave the order in a low voice: "Sprint, have the robots move immediately. I want to see the passage to the next level in the shortest possible time!"

The voice had barely fallen when the twelve robots in the great hall, which had been silent for a long time like guards, all shuddered, and soon they began to work.

He did not have to wait long; it took less than forty minutes.

The excavation robots dug out a tunnel that he could pass through, based on the passage he had discovered.

Then, after Sun Cheng and his group entered the next level of the Underground Pyramid, he was quickly disappointed.

"Master... this is a place for burial and sacrifice..."

The second level of the Underground Pyramid was different from the one above; it was composed of four separated spaces: a burial area for ancient Indian kings, priests, and nobles; a voluntary burial area composed of ancient Indian Warriors; a burial pit for slaughtered prisoners of war and slaves; and a sacrificial pit for various livestock.

The sight of the white bones made Sun Cheng feel irritable in his heart; after looking around briefly, he ordered them to continue digging downward.

To his surprise, this time he waited for a full three hours; the two levels below were both anti-theft zones that were like labyrinths composed of various hidden passages.

As a result, the excavation robots had to dig through two levels of anti-theft zones in one go before Sun Cheng and his group reached the very bottom of the Underground Pyramid.

"Boom!"

Sun Cheng jumped down from the hole where earth and stone were still falling, arriving at the very bottom of the Underground Pyramid, a space that was very cramped.

This Underground Pyramid, which was highly likely to be the ancestor of all Maya pyramids on Earth in this world, although an inverted pyramid, still had roughly the same structure as those Maya pyramids on the surface.

Therefore, this "Temple" level where they were currently located should be the place mentioned in the murals for burying the corpse of the Decepticon suspected to be a Pathfinder.

His arm touched the top of the space after only extending halfway. Feeling earth and stone constantly falling onto his body, Sun Cheng shook his head; he really did not like this feeling.

However, when his gaze swept across everything in this narrow temple, which was no more than six meters high and about fifteen meters in length and width, and took it all in—

The expression on his face changed in an instant!

"A corpse?!"

In the center of the temple, two meters behind the hole he had jumped down from, there was a massive Golden Ship that appeared to have been cast from gold. Resting quietly on the ship was a ferocious giant whose body was covered in terrifying wounds and was covered in rust.

On the giant's chest, an insignia that Sun Cheng was all too familiar with seemed to shine with a faint, eye-catching fluorescence in the darkness.

He could never have imagined that he would actually be able to find the corpse of a Pathfinder in this temple at the very bottom of the Underground Pyramid!

PS:

Another apology; something came up at the shop at home, and I've been busy for a few days.
