Chapter 443: Plasma Anesthetic Shell

~7 min read 1,305 words

Washington, the capital of the United States, full name Washington, Columbia District.

Named after the first U. S. President George Washington, it is located near Fujiniyazhou and Maryland; it sits in the northeastern part of the United States, in the Mid-Atlantic region, and is a special administrative district established in 1790 as the capital and governed directly by the U. S. Congress.

Washington is not a highly developed international metropolis like New York, and its population is even less than some state capitals within the United States, yet no person or force dares to underestimate it.

For no other reason than that this is the decision-making center of the strongest human nation on Earth—the United States.

As soon as they entered the territory of Washington, Sun Cheng and Pathfinder both immediately landed on the ground.

One must say it is truly worthy of being the capital of the American empire; the defensive forces here look loose, but the deployed air defense radars are almost several times denser than the several U. S. military bases they bypassed, and there are even four sets of Dark Spectrum Reconnaissance Systems scanning aerial units almost without blind spots.

All sorts of signs indicate that this place is on high alert!

"The alert level has been raised by at least one grade since the last time I came here!"

Pathfinder suddenly spoke up; the Base has collected a lot of data on Earth, especially regarding the two nuclear giants, the United States and Russia, including news, military data, and so on, with a total volume, calculated by Earth's Computer Science storage units, of at least seventy or eighty EB.

Pathfinder had evidently read some materials about the United States, which is why he had the concept of alert levels.

Sun Cheng frowned slightly upon hearing this.

Pathfinder had only been dispatched here to the United States by him not long ago, less than a month in total.

In such a short time, the alert in Washington had been raised so much, and it was not limited to the capital area; they had felt the increase in alert almost everywhere they passed within the U. S. borders on their way here.

This was somewhat strange!

Regarding the nature of the Yankees, whether in the 【Transformers Universe】 or the real world, Sun Cheng had learned more than once from various news and current affairs: arrogant, overbearing, unreasonable, self-important, and unscrupulous.

Although that was based on confidence in their own military power, Sun Cheng believed that once the Yankees knew of the existence of 【AllSpark】 fragments, they could not sit by and watch the Autobots take them away, especially after paying a heavy price in the Battle of Las Vegas.

Therefore, ever since he learned that the human boy Sam had a 【AllSpark】 fragment, Sun Cheng, like Pathfinder, had become suspicious; he did not believe Sam could have evaded the U. S. government's inspection to bring a fragment back to his own home.

Then only two possibilities remained: either the Autobots knew from the beginning that Sam had a fragment, but for some consideration, they did not expose it or ask him for it.

Or, this fragment was sent to Sam by someone else later on.

The latter possibility was too bizarre, and even Sun Cheng did not know why such a thought had popped into his head, dismissing it as his own habit of being overly suspicious acting up again.

However, if it were the former, then even if the 【AllSpark】 fragment were stolen, the Autobots should have investigated it privately rather than making such a scene, otherwise, just the accountability from their American allies would be a big headache.

Optimus Prime could not be unaware that although the Autobots were doing their best to help humans, in the eyes of humans, the Autobots were just like the Decepticons—foreign invaders; that is why there had always been voices within the United States hostile to the Autobots and firmly opposed to cooperating with them.

Following this line of reasoning, the U. S. government's reaction was too strange.

"Could it be that in the past few days, besides the theft of the fragment, something else has happened in the United States that has struck a nerve with the Yankees?"

After frowning and thinking for a while, Sun Cheng soon gave up helplessly.

The information he had now was too scarce; although he had operated some secret lines within the United States in the past, he had not come to Washington this time to spy for intelligence, but to handle something more important.

To avoid complications, Sun Cheng ultimately resisted the urge to Awakening his intelligence network to get a glimpse of the truth behind it.

Relying on the Optical Stealth Device, although it was a bit slow, after more than an hour, the two Decepticons arrived at their target location as they wished—the 【National Air and Space Museum of the United States】.

Although there had been some delays, because it was already midnight by the time they arrived in Washington, it actually made the following tasks more convenient.

Pathfinder was familiar with the route, and he led Sun Cheng in front, easily bypassing the high walls and the guard room on the perimeter of the museum; the two entered the museum from the outdoor open-air exhibition area of the Air and Space Museum.

Three or five minutes later, they arrived outside the exhibition hall where the Blackbird lay sleeping.

Pathfinder pointed at the exhibition hall, which was sealed off by a huge rolling shutter door, and said respectfully: "Master, the Decepticon I discovered is sleeping in this museum!"

Sun Cheng had already detected the surveillance equipment spread throughout the hall, and with a thought, two blue beams of light shot from his eyes; he quickly took control of all the surveillance equipment in the hall, taking everything inside the museum into his view.

At midnight, there were naturally no visitors in the museum, so the dim exhibition hall was left with only some exhibits, which notably included the dormant Decepticon that Pathfinder had discovered, suspected to be a Pathfinder.

Although there were two security personnel inside the museum, one was in the guard room smoking and watching TV, only occasionally glancing at the dozens of surveillance screens on the huge screen in front of him; while the other was lying on a chair with his hat covering his face, seemingly resting.

Sun Cheng did not want to alert them, to avoid complications and drawing the Autobots.

He knew that although the U. S. government had announced to the public that they had arranged for the Autobots to be stationed on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean to appease Congress and some forces in the country hostile to visitors from beyond the sky, the White House had reached a secret agreement with Optimus Prime in private, allowing an elite squad composed of at least four Autobot Warriors to move into a U. S. military base in Washington D. C.

That was why he was being so careful; he just did not want any complications.

As for a rolling shutter door, solving it was nothing easier for two Decepticons.

After Sun Cheng gave the order, Pathfinder immediately stepped forward, extended his right hand, and flames shot from the tips of his index and middle fingers, quickly cutting into the rolling shutter door.

It took only ten-odd seconds for him to cut a gap in the door large enough for them to pass through by bowing their heads, and then he reached out to pull the cut piece of Ironhide out and placed it gently on the ground to the side.

Sun Cheng lowered his head and entered the exhibition hall through the gap; as soon as he stood still, his gaze immediately turned to the Blackbird high-altitude reconnaissance plane in the corner of the hall.
