Chapter 451: An Uneasy Premonition
"Decepticon!"
Sun Cheng stopped once again.
He and Pioneer had only just detected the electromagnetic spectrum of four Autobots within Louisiana not long ago; to avoid conflict with them, the two Decepticons had specifically detoured to the west of Texas to enter Mexico from there.
Unexpectedly, after abandoning their original route, they had an accidental discovery while flying along the west coast of Mexico. Not long after entering the airspace near Lazaro Cardenas, his internal reconnaissance system once again captured obscure electromagnetic spectrum fluctuations; judging by the situation, it was actually four Decepticons.
If one calls it a coincidence, someone has to believe it.
"... Master, I sense the frequency of my own kind; there are Decepticons nearby..."
Pioneer sensed it quickly as well. There is a special signal-receiving system between Decepticons; once they approach each other within a certain distance, they can detect the presence of companions or enemies nearby.
This is not innate; Autobots possess it as well. It seems to be a special ability added after the two major factions crazily modified both Decepticons and Autobots during the civil war.
Furthermore, the more powerful the Mechanical Life, the earlier they can discover the presence of their own kind or enemies.
"Hmm!"
Sun Cheng responded. The Spark within Pioneer is not yet perfect and cannot currently bear the consumption of flying while simultaneously activating the Optical Stealth Device, so he did not activate his reconnaissance system like Sun Cheng did; it is not strange that he discovered the anomaly much later than Sun Cheng.
After thinking for a moment, he ordered: "If you continue to approach, there is a high probability you will be exposed. Follow the previous flight path and continue flying to Base No. 2; I will catch up with you soon..."
Encountering two waves of Autobots and Decepticons in succession, and both appearing at the scale of a squad—counting it up, this is his first encounter since the Battle of Las Vegas.
At this moment, Sun Cheng was not sure if his suspicious nature was acting up again.
In any case, his feeling right now was very bad; a sense of impending unease gave him the illusion for a split second that even his Core was about to freeze.
This is terrible!
Sun Cheng now highly suspected that something very bad concerning him was about to happen!
"Damn it... so it really wasn't an illusion before? The vigilance of the Americans has clearly reached a combat-ready level... and those Autobots in Louisiana as well; they should be tracking someone, or perhaps something..."
Realizing things were not looking good, Sun Cheng could not help but start thinking seriously.
Soon, various pieces of intelligence he had previously ignored, or rather, had not thought of at all, were quickly connected together.
And he soon arrived at a result that made him feel increasingly uneasy: "In a place I haven't noticed, something unfavorable to me must have happened... What exactly is it? Could it be that the Americans' nuclear arsenal has been stolen again?"
It is no wonder Sun Cheng would think this way, because ordinary weapons on Earth are indeed difficult to harm Decepticons and Autobots.
And big items like nuclear weapons, although they are world-destroying weapons created by humans by mistake while taking a wrong turn on the path of utilizing nuclear energy, one must admit that they do possess the ability to destroy Mechanical Life, or even a civilization that has not yet broken through to the interstellar era.
The Earth in the Transformers universe has been peaceful for too long. Since the end of the Cold War, after losing the Soviet Union as an opponent capable of destroying itself, the arrogant Americans inevitably slacked off on their armaments.
The specific manifestation is not only that Americans have retired various advanced weapon systems since the 1990s, but the number of military equipment research projects that have been delayed, frozen, or even terminated is countless.
At the same time, both domestically and abroad, this slackness is spreading.
Some hallucinogens, or even outright drugs, high-proof alcohol restricted by the military, and other recreational items are rampant among the U. S. military.
Last year, Sun Cheng and the others were able to easily steal several Nuclear Warheads from a heavily guarded U. S. military base; one can see the whole picture from this small detail.
What are nuclear weapons?
The heavy assets of a nation!
Even such treasures could be easily stolen; one must know that the Decepticons dispatched at that time were only a few, and they didn't expend much effort at all.
If the Americans were truly diligent, although the final result might still be hard to say, Sun Cheng and the others would definitely have had to pay a painful price.
If there is a first time, it is hard to say there won't be a second.
That is why Sun Cheng suspected this, but ultimately, the available intelligence was too scarce; those fragmented pieces of information simply could not be connected.
"Yes, Master!"
Hearing Sun Cheng order him to leave first, Pioneer responded quite simply and flew straight toward Base No. 2 without stopping.
He knew his master was not simple. What they discovered in advance were just four Normal Decepticons. Having had a round of combat with Brawl and Sideways, the now-confident Pioneer would dare to fight them himself, so he naturally did not think his master, whose strength was far above his own, would be unable to handle a few Normal Decepticon Warriors.
Finding a concealed spot near the port to land, Sun Cheng did not turn off his Optical Stealth Device. Only after confirming that Pioneer had flown over a hundred kilometers away did he withdraw part of his attention from this capable subordinate he had worked so hard to cultivate, and once again locked onto the four Decepticons he had discovered.
The four Decepticons currently looked just like four ordinary construction vehicles, parked on a cargo ship named Mrs. Windsor.
This should be a cargo ship specializing in ocean shipping, though it looked to be only around ten thousand tons.
Sun Cheng discovered them parked quietly on the cargo ship, motionless. If it weren't for the fluctuations constantly emitted by the Sparks within them exposing them, one really wouldn't be able to tell anything just by looking at their appearance.
Clearly, these were four Decepticons he had never seen before.
However, when he saw their current construction vehicle forms clearly, his eyes narrowed slightly: "Constructicons?"
Yes, Sun Cheng recognized two of the four Decepticons hiding on the cargo ship. The Decepticon that transformed into a green heavy-duty truck was none other than Scrapper from the Constructicon Squad; and the other, a cyan-and-white cement mixer, looked exactly like another member of the Constructicon Squad—Mixmaster.
After confirming it repeatedly, he let out a long breath, but his mood became increasingly heavy.
Sun Cheng could be certain that he had not misidentified them.
Not long ago, after Pioneer handed him the head containing the Brain and Core of Brawl, he immediately read the Memory Data of Brawl, and thus mastered the information of all members of the Constructicon Squad.
Without a doubt, two of the four Decepticons he had discovered at this moment were indeed from the Constructicons.
