Chapter 49: Research Base (Begging for recommendations, collections, and tips)

~8 min read 1,415 words

Once again awakened from his sleep, President Cheney's face was gloomy and unsightly, but he did not lash out; instead, he silently threw on a bathrobe and walked out.

"Speak, what is it again?"

He asked his secretary with irritation; despite trying hard to control his emotions, there was still a hint of anger in Cheney's words.

Every United States President has multiple secretaries during their term, some specifically responsible for press statements, some managing their social affairs, some handling document organization, and of course, there are always confidential secretaries who report on important events.

Segesi, recommended by the National Security Council, was Cheney's second confidential secretary.

Seeing Cheney wearing a sour face, Segesi acted as if he didn't see it, took a document from the briefcase he carried, respectfully handed it to him, and then retreated to his original spot, waiting for Cheney's instructions.

Cheney flipped it open for a quick look, then couldn't help but fiercely throw the document onto the desk beside him. "Sector 7 has also been invaded? Banajack promised me just a moment ago, and now something like this has happened?"

He couldn't help but be angry; although through recent contact, Cheney had learned of the history, significance, and contributions of Sector 7 to the United States, any United States President would be unwilling to let such a special agency with extremely high confidentiality, which even the President cannot easily interfere with, continue to exist.

In fact, Cheney was already preparing to deal with Sector 7. In his view, Sector 7 could be preserved, but it must be under the direct management of the government, and a large portion of its massive research base would have to be split off.

Cheney simply couldn't believe how Roosevelt had allowed Sector 7 to form itself and recruit agents, security, and guards in the first place.

When he learned that Sector 7 would withdraw tens of billions of dollars from the treasury every year under the name of special government funding, even though the person in charge of Sector 7, named Tom Banajack, had left a good impression on him, the thought of wanting to disband Sector 7 in Cheney's heart could no longer be suppressed.

"Mr. President, it is clear that the existence of Sector 7 has been exposed. Do we need to transfer the important research items inside..."

Segesi came from the National Security Council and was one of Cheney's important aides and a member of the Shadow Cabinet, so he had long since learned some information about Sector 7 from President Cheney.

"It's difficult!" Cheney shook his head. "Banajack once mentioned to me that the alien meteorite located at the PB Laboratory possesses powerful radioactive energy. Once it leaves the laboratory specifically designed for it, its energy will cause all electronic equipment nearby to go haywire. There is also NBE-1; Sector 7 conducts a full inspection of it every year. They suspect that once there is a change in temperature and air pressure, that big guy from outer space might very well lose control!"

"However, we cannot let them continue to mess around like this anymore..."

This time, Sector 7 had also encountered an invasion by a mechanical warrior suspected to be an alien creature, which undoubtedly gave Cheney a good reason to intervene.

He thought for a long while before ordering Segesi: "Go, organize these materials and send them to the Pentagon for Defense Minister Voight. Have him arrange to send a troop to station at Sector 7 to ensure the safety of Sector 7."

After a pause, Cheney continued: "If there is public concern about this, announce to the outside world that the FBI received intelligence that terrorists who have infiltrated the United States are waiting for an opportunity to bomb the Hoover Dam!"

"Yes!"

Segesi left quickly, preparing to notify the Pentagon and the Defense Minister.

Feeling that he had no more sleepiness, Cheney sighed helplessly. "These damn extraterrestrial creatures, why can't they just be a little more settled!"

Thinking of the four stolen nuclear warheads whose whereabouts were still unknown, and those mechanical lives hiding in some corner of the vast territory of the United States, he felt his head start to ache again.

1:00 AM, in the outskirts of Saguache County, southwest Colorado, United States, at a certain long-abandoned "Titan I" intercontinental strategic nuclear missile silo.

The long-sealed silo cover was suddenly opened. Accompanied by a surge of turbid air containing trace radioactive elements, a mechanical warrior with an entirely dark gray body quickly jumped out from below the silo. It was none other than Sun Cheng.

"Is it night? I really am not used to living in this kind of place; it feels just like a ground rat!"

Although he knew that very few people would come here, Sun Cheng still looked around vigilantly before muttering his complaints.

However, when he thought about what he was about to do, his face was immediately filled with smiles.

He looked up at the sky, determined his orientation with the help of the satellites hanging in outer space, then leaped into the sky, transformed into a Reaper Drone, and flew toward the direction of Colorado Springs.

Five days had passed since the invasion and withdrawal from Sector 7. Although he had already mastered accurate intelligence about the AllSpark, he chose to conceal it and did not notify Starscream or Brawl.

Sun Cheng had spent these five days very fruitfully. He circled around the vast United States and finally selected a nuclear missile silo abandoned by the U. S. military for many years in the outskirts of Saguache County, southwest Colorado, to settle down. Sun Cheng prepared to turn this place into his own base, just like Brawl and Starscream.

After possessing the Spark, Sun Cheng's speed had once again gained an astonishing increase. His current speed had already exceeded nine hundred kilometers per hour. Although there was a not-insignificant distance from Saguache County to Colorado Springs, it was no different from a stroll in his eyes.

When he was still several dozen kilometers away from the Colorado Springs urban area, Sun Cheng had already slowed down and become cautious.

There were numerous military facilities related to air defense near Colorado Springs, including Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, and the North American Aerospace Defense Command headquarters. The air defense early warning system here was quite complete, and even Sun Cheng was unwilling to easily go head-to-head with the United States Air Force.

After entering the Colorado Springs urban area through disguise, Sun Cheng went straight into an old factory building in the suburbs. When he saw several cargo boxes placed in the open space of the factory, his face couldn't help but be filled with an excited smile.

"It's here!"

Excitedly doing a backflip in the empty factory, the smugness in his eyes could not be hidden.

Ever since he followed Brawl and learned that most high-level Decepticons enhance their combat power by constantly strengthening their own bodies, he had the idea of building an advanced laboratory for himself in the future.

Although he could not get advanced machinery from Cybertron from Brawl and Starscream.

But Sun Cheng was no pushover. By invading the United States banking system, it only took him ten minutes to transfer hundreds of millions of dollars from tens of thousands of dead accounts. Then, after laundering the funds by registering various shell companies online, he used the names of multiple shell companies to purchase a large amount of advanced machinery, equipment, and raw materials he needed, having logistics companies deliver them to the factory buildings he had leased in several large cities in Colorado.

Throughout the entire process, he completed everything by contacting agents through the internet. The design, which was linked ring by ring, was very rigorous; even if a problem occurred in one link, it would not affect other places.

This factory building located in the suburbs of Colorado Springs was also one of his receiving points.

Here, a Five-axis Linkage CNC Machine Tool, a metal laser cutter, and two diesel generators had already completed the receiving procedures.

Of course, the receiver was also someone he had recruited online.

And all he needed to do was take these machines back under the cover of night, and then, after upgrading them using the special functions of the Decepticons, use them to research how to further strengthen his own body.
