Chapter 491: Chapter 489: ai-001

~7 min read 1,354 words

In the dead of night, a low-profile, domestically produced large SUV slowly pulled over at the entrance of a riverside park about two kilometers away from the Nandu Supercomputing Center.

Sun Cheng turned off the engine and cast a glance at the passenger seat, where a laptop—its exterior looking exactly like an alien notebook, but displaying a metal icon resembling a fox face on its lid—sat, before he spoke slowly.

"Frenzy, confirm the current status of ai-001!"

This laptop on the passenger seat was none other than Frenzy, the micro-Decepticon he had previously brought back to the real world from the 【Transformers Universe】.

"Received, Master!"

Frenzy's original form was an all-in-one computer, which Sun Cheng had left at his home to protect the safety of himself and Ye Qi.

This was also related to his previous conservative mindset, because although he had faced dangers during his first few returns to the real world, they were far less severe than before this last return, to the point where he even had to utilize the desynchronized time flow between the two worlds to cultivate Decepticons in reality.

Because of this, Sun Cheng was now more aggressive than he had been during his last return.

For instance, Frenzy, whom he had originally left at home to serve as a bodyguard, had now been brought out by him.

In his current view, appropriate risk-taking was still very necessary.

Compared to Xiao Wu, the micro-Decepticon who usually disguised himself as a smartphone, Frenzy's abilities were undoubtedly far more outstanding, especially in terms of combat capability; at the very least, he was not much worse than Barricade.

The all-in-one form was indeed inconvenient to carry around, so Sun Cheng, no longer caring about consuming some Energy Liquid, had allowed Frenzy to acquire a brand-new transformation form, and he had been staying by his side recently.

The screen of the laptop that Frenzy had transformed into flickered, and a very detailed 2D map soon appeared, clearly marking all the buildings of the entire Nandu Supercomputing Center.

These were naturally the work of ai-001, the little thing Sun Cheng had released when he previously entered the Nandu Supercomputing Center, taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention.

This "intrusive micro-spider robot" was a super-small robot spy designed by "Huan" and manufactured by the Decepticon Engineers; although its size was much smaller than a Scout Robot, its capabilities could not be underestimated.

Its inconspicuous size greatly reduced the probability of it being discovered, and at the same time, it could briefly reside in certain electronic devices and seize control, making it an expert at infiltrating highly classified institutions and units.

After Sun Cheng secretly threw ai-001 into the Nandu Supercomputing Center, he had already given this little guy an order last time: find the "North Wind" series of supercomputers and then reside within them, as he wanted to know all the information stored inside.

The two most famous supercomputer series in this country were the "Poplar" and "North Wind" series.

The former, Poplar, was the earliest supercomputer model born in China, and it was said that at the time of its birth, it was also used for the development of nuclear weapons, though later it was mostly applied to large-scale national projects, surveying and mapping, weather forecasting, marine information processing, and so on.

As for the "North Wind" series of supercomputers that Sun Cheng was interested in—and even risked being discovered and arrested by the state to get a glimpse of—they were supercomputers specifically designed by the Supercomputing Center for the military.

As a supercomputer serving the military, it was said that a total of 5 units across 3 models of the "North Wind" series were manufactured; one was placed in a research institution under the Northwest National Defense University, one in the Army Equipment Research Institute, one in the Aerospace Center, one in a research institution under the Mawei Naval Command Academy, and the last one had remained in the Nandu Supercomputing Center.

Sun Cheng had long been curious about whether the "North Wind" series supercomputer housed in the Nandu Supercomputing Center was still undertaking military equipment projects.

At the time, the reason he sent ai-001 to infiltrate the "North Wind" supercomputer, besides wanting to take the opportunity to gauge the true level of his own country in order to plan for possible future cooperation with his motherland, was also because he had the idea of finding some technology that he could use for himself.

Sun Cheng did indeed possess quite a bit of Cybertron Technology, but the civilization and technological development of Mechanical Life were still very different from those of human civilization.

On the Earth of the 【Transformers Universe】, the Cybertronians possessed thermonuclear power generation technology far more advanced than that of humans, yet they had not manufactured terrifying weapons like nuclear weapons that could easily change the situation of a war.

Both Autobots and Decepticons were very adept at manufacturing various weapons, and even Energy Weapons that humans had not yet mastered posed no production difficulty for them.

However, because the military technology research path of the Cybertronian civilization leaned more towards the research of bodies, close-range defense, and combat-type weapons, they had considerable shortcomings in missile development and large-caliber weapon design.

Atlas was still leading a team to absorb and modify the missile technology he had obtained from Russia, and was committed to producing his own medium-to-long-range missiles, especially ballistic cruise missiles.

There was no helping it; although Sun Cheng had begun to gain a foothold in South America in the 【Transformers Universe】 world and had also begun to gradually bring Brazil under his control, he could not help the fact that his identity in the other world was awkwardly that of an extraterrestrial visitor.

The identity of Frenzy destined that even without enemies like the Decepticons or Autobots, he had an irreconcilable relationship with the indigenous people of Earth—humans.

The nuclear weapons manufactured by humans were like a Sword of Damocles hanging over his head and that of Base No. 2. Sun Cheng did not know if this sword would follow if South America were to truly fall into his hands in the future, but he did not want to gamble, because the price of failure was too heavy.

After all, ai-001 was only a mechanical spy, far unable to remain in a working state for long periods like a micro-Decepticon.

When Frenzy awakened it again, a line of text soon appeared on the computer screen.

"Task completed, ready to return at any time!"

"Quickly, let it come back!"

Sun Cheng's mood instantly lifted by several dozen points, and the corners of his mouth curved into an arc.

It seemed ai-001 had not let him down; this kind of spider robot, small enough to be disguised as a USB flash drive, was undoubtedly a qualified spy.

Even in a heavily guarded Laboratory, it could infiltrate through places like ventilation ducts to steal the intelligence he wanted.

ai-001 also had a storage Chip inside it capable of storing PB-level data; Sun Cheng was now impatient to go back and take a look at just how many good things it had managed to get its hands on during the time it spent in the Nandu Supercomputing Center.

It did not make him wait too long; the screen of the laptop that Frenzy had transformed into continued to display the 2D map of the Nandu Supercomputing Center, while the red dot representing ai-001 was also constantly flashing, moving toward one side of the map, getting closer and closer to them.

Just five or six minutes later, the red dot representing the little spider had already disappeared from the map.

After another few minutes or so, a mechanical spider emitting a chilling glint under the moonlight crawled in through the slightly opened gap of the car window, stopped directly on the keyboard of the laptop that Frenzy had transformed into, and then transformed back into a USB flash drive.

The car slowly drove off, and soon, just as it had arrived, it disappeared into the night once again.
