Chapter 59: Meeting Onslaught Again (Begging for recommendations, follows, and tips)
Sitting quietly on the floor of the Base, Sun Cheng lowered his head to look at the gray crystal held in his palm. No emotional fluctuations could be seen on his face; only the blue light flickering incessantly in his eyes revealed the inner turmoil he felt at this moment.
After a long while, he slowly stood up from the floor, letting out a long breath just like a human. "How pathetic..."
Pathetic!
This was the only word he could think of to describe his hurried return here from the real world!
Thinking back to when he returned to the real world earlier, Sun Cheng had been full of confidence, even once thinking he had made full preparations. As it turned out, reality taught him another lesson: after losing his Decepticon body, he was no different from anyone else.
With the same fragile head and the same fragile body, two or three people armed with knives could threaten his life.
It was laughable that he had thought he could settle everything by bringing some weapons back to the real world, forgetting that firearms could not be used casually in reality. Once someone died and he was exposed, everything he had in the real world would be finished.
"Naive... laughable..."
Self-deprecatingly, he climbed up from the floor. Sun Cheng looked down at his clenched fist and felt the power within his heart—the power originating from the Decepticon body that existed solely for destruction. The irritability, panic, and unease he had brought back from reality gradually began to disappear.
"That's right. In my heart, I had long realized that this is the place truly suited for me, the place that can change my destiny... It's just that I was unwilling to admit it myself..."
He had originally planned to stay in the real world for at least a month to thoroughly resolve the trouble with his loans and, while he was at it, lay a foundation in reality before returning.
But plans could never keep up with changes, and having suffered from his own youth and wishful thinking, he had to return early.
Sun Cheng had steeled his heart this time. If he didn't make a name for himself in this world, he would never return to the real world again until he was fully prepared.
Shaking his head slightly, he soon cast all those annoying emotions to the back of his mind.
Strictly speaking, this return to the real world was not entirely without gain; at the very least, Sun Cheng had confirmed three things.
First, when traveling between the two worlds, he could carry some items with him.
Second, every time he traveled from the real world to here, or returned to the real world, Sun Cheng had to consume a certain type of energy stored in the Spherical Space, with a single trip costing two hundred.
Third, the Spherical Space was suspected to be able to level up by absorbing energy. Leveling up was a good thing for him; according to his deduction, the number of items he could carry while traveling had increased from the initial one to three.
These were the conclusions he reached after his thoughts returned to calm, and they were the only gains from his terrible trip to reality.
Sun Cheng's Base was empty and desolate. He was not like Starscream or Onslaught; one was a veteran Deputy Commander of the Decepticon Legion, and the other was an Elite Warrior. Both had operated on Earth for a long time, and even the lesser of the two, Onslaught, had many Decepticon grunts under his command to do his bidding.
However...
Raising the Level 2 Core he had obtained from Starscream, Sun Cheng frowned and fell into deep thought while looking at it.
This Level 2 Core was a reward Starscream had used to lure him back then. He had been truly excited at the time, and for it, he had even dug a big hole for Starscream, tricking Soundwave into coming to Earth to be schemed against by Starscream, ultimately forcing him into hibernation to recover from his injuries.
Initially, Sun Cheng had intended to use this Level 2 Core as a foundation to create a New Body for himself.
Thinking about it now, it was fortunate that he had accidentally brought it back to the real world at the time. Otherwise, judging Starscream by Soundwave's methods, Sun Cheng was certain that this malicious fellow definitely would have played some tricks on this core.
With a thought, two beams of blue light shot from Sun Cheng's eyes into the Level 2 Core in his hand, and he began to examine it earnestly.
After coming into contact with the AllSpark, he had to admit that the AllSpark was truly a miraculous holy object.
It had allowed the lowest-level core he had originally equipped—the Spy Template—to promote to a Spark. The greatest improvement was not that the core could store more energy, but that it allowed Sun Cheng to obtain a massive amount of information transmitted from the AllSpark.
For Decepticons, they undoubtedly preferred to use the term Life Force to describe this information.
However, Sun Cheng was more accustomed to interpreting things with human thinking, so he used the word "information" to refer to what the Decepticons called Life Force.
The massive AllSpark currently kept by the Americans in the Sector 7 Base was not only filled with vast energy, but more miraculously, it also contained a massive amount of information.
Information was truly very important for Mechanical Life!
It was like lines of code among countless computer programs. Code could form software, allowing computers to move from cold machines to having a better ability to process problems. If one day humans were foolish enough to use code to write logical thinking circuits and emotional systems for computers, then perhaps in the near future, a non-human intelligent life similar to the Decepticons might truly be born from human hands.
The information from the AllSpark was just such a miraculous thing; it was more refined than human code yet could store more information.
Although in just over ten days, Sun Cheng had only digested a small amount of the information stored in his Spark, it had benefited him greatly. For instance, he had now sorted out from that information the ability to invade a Core, similar to the one mastered by Starscream and Soundwave.
Because the Level 2 Core in his hand had not yet been activated and had not autonomously generated its own personality and consciousness, Sun Cheng's violent intrusion did not encounter any obstruction or counterattack, which allowed him to very easily take over all the functions of the core and begin reading it.
After carefully combing through it once, he found nothing abnormal.
Sun Cheng still felt uneasy, so he checked it carefully two more times and still did not feel anything different.
He steeled his heart and simply activated all the spy functions of his Spark, spending a full three or four days checking every segment of information in this Level 2 Core, which finally allowed him to find a few strange spots.
Because he had expended too much mental effort, the blue light in Sun Cheng's eyes could not help but dim a little.
After finally finding the hidden trap Starscream had planted in this Level 2 Core, he couldn't help but sneer. "Let me see what kind of traps that guy Starscream has hidden... Disable defense functions... Memory Data reading... Hide second personality... Hiss..."
Using the intrusion and analysis functions to completely crack the traps Starscream had hidden in the Level 2 Core in his hand, even though Sun Cheng had been prepared, he was still broken out in a cold sweat by Starscream's vicious methods.
"This guy is truly poisonous..."
No wonder the entire Decepticon Legion used the word "insidious" to describe Starscream; this word couldn't be more appropriate for him.
In a low-level core given to him as a trade, he didn't forget to plant such a vicious trap, secretly hiding a second personality that was completely beyond Sun Cheng's control.
Just imagining if he had truly equipped this core without knowing, and one day in the future the other personality hidden in his core began to awaken, it would not only compete with Sun Cheng for control of the core, but the body as well, and it might even affect his body in the real world.
Thinking of this, Sun Cheng felt cold sweat running down, secretly rejoicing that he hadn't used it.
After some effort, he casually erased the traps Starscream had left in the core. He hesitated for a while, but ultimately did not erase the newborn personality hidden in the core.
In this world, he had always been alone, without even a lackey by his side to run errands for him. Sun Cheng had long had the idea of using this Level 2 Core to create a subordinate for himself.
With the information previously injected by Starscream, it saved him quite a bit of effort.
Sun Cheng now only needed to reset the newborn personality and leave behind some control measures to ensure it could be loyal to him.
However, even so, the workload was still enormous; conservatively estimated, it would take at least half a month.
Sun Cheng did not intend to waste this time. He did not yet possess the ability to manufacture a body on his own, so there was a place he had to make a trip to.
"It seems I have to go to Onslaught's place again... That's fine, counting the time, Blackout, whom Soundwave mentioned, should also be arriving on Earth soon..."
Having made up his mind, he temporarily stored the Level 2 Core in his body's memory, then immediately left the Base and flew toward Onslaught's location.
PS:
Today's update is a bit late, mainly because I forgot today is the 19th. My younger sister's birthday is 4.19, and mine is 4.20. We usually celebrate together, but this year is special; she didn't want to celebrate together, so it delayed some time.
However, it won't affect the updates; at most, the upload will be late. There will be a minimum of three updates today.
