Chapter 614: Decisive Battle in Egypt (Part Two)

~7 min read 1,244 words

Ironhide was not cold-blooded or heartless, nor did he intentionally abandon his comrades and companions.

Although he arrived later than Bumblebee and the others, he fortunately dodged the Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb attack that had come from out of nowhere.

But as a Commander, even though the short-tempered Ironhide was not particularly well-suited for the role, he still possessed the ability to grasp the situation on the battlefield.

The Fallen's target was the Matrix of Leadership, so he only needed to take the Matrix of Leadership away; that would be the best protection for his companions.

Especially given that Bumblebee and the others were all currently unable to move.

Crane and Fireblast had not been injured in the aforementioned Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb bombardment.

These Autobots who had come to Earth were basically all die-hard loyalists to Optimus Prime, or followers attracted by his character.

Therefore, there was no need for Ironhide to explain further; Crane and Fireblast tacitly stayed behind, each pulling out their weapons to engage The Fallen.

Autobots do not fear death, and besides, Sam and Ratchet had previously mentioned that the Matrix of Leadership possessed the power of resurrection.

Even if it was just a conjecture, it gave the Autobots infinite hope.

"Commander, leave this to us. Go quickly and resurrect the Leader!"

Ironhide forcefully suppressed the urge to turn back and fight alongside his comrades.

Bumblebee and the others had all been injured in the previous Missile attack, and he was the only one left with sufficient speed.

"My brothers are waiting for me..."

He said to himself in his heart. Ironhide had just used long-range communication to order the Autobot Base near Soli to send people to transport the remains of Optimus Prime—which had only recently been escorted back to the base—to rendezvous with him.

Ironhide would enter Egypt first, then head south.

If everything went smoothly, they would be able to reunite in ten to twenty hours at most.

That was, provided Ironhide could shake off The Fallen.

High in the sky, the United States military aircraft had already attracted the attention of all the Autobots and Decepticons present.

And the supply crates subsequently dropped from the sky also cast a shadow over the hearts of all the Autobots who understood the United States military.

As a weapons expert, Ironhide's disdain for Earth technology meant he only had a slight understanding of the weapons invented by humans.

This obviously did not include the weapons currently being dropped from the sky, but based on his understanding of Americans, he feared the newcomers meant no good.

Soon, his conjecture was confirmed.

Crane and Fireblast performed far worse than Sideswipe and the others when facing The Fallen.

The Fallen, who was brimming with suppressed fury, sneered as he brandished his Bone Staff, knocking them away one by one; one was sent flying, and another had his head hammered into his chest cavity.

"Damned vermin!"

He sneered and was just about to leap into mid-air when Sideswipe, covered in white smoke, struggled to jump up and grab his leg.

"Don't even think about leaving!"

High in the sky, the bombs falling toward them were getting closer and closer to the ground.

Although The Fallen's understanding of the weapons invented by humans on Earth was similar to Ironhide's—only having paid slight attention to the general picture and knowing a few types that could threaten him—

because he had just suffered a setback, his internal condition was just as bad, only slightly better than the surrounding Autobots who were almost unable to move due to the destruction of a large number of internal electronic components.

With his thigh being dragged, The Fallen's figure stalled slightly. He looked down at Sideswipe, who was covered in white smoke and electric sparks and in an extremely poor state, and a look of appreciation appeared on his face.

"Although you are a traitor, your courage is worthy of praise!"

His smile suddenly turned ferocious, and The Fallen was seen suddenly stabbing the metal Bone Staff in his hand toward Sideswipe.

"No..."

Ratchet closed his eyes, unable to bear it. One end of The Fallen's Bone Staff easily pierced through Sideswipe's chest cavity, inserting itself into the azure Spark within his body.

After the Spark emitted a crackling sound, it gradually lost its luster.

At the same time, the arms Sideswipe had tightly gripped around The Fallen lost all their strength.

His eyes dimmed; the Elite Warrior—Sideswipe, was killed in action!

However, The Fallen did not notice the slight curve at the corner of Sideswipe's mouth. He was smiling, because his goal had been achieved.

"Boom!"

A GBU-43B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb falling from the sky finally hit the ground, the explosion occurring just over two hundred meters from where The Fallen was located.

The earth was shrouded in clouds of white gas. The Autobots and The Fallen on the ground did not even have time to react further. Suddenly, with a thunderous roar, the earth trembled. Instantly, flames flashed across nearly hundreds of thousands of square meters of ground, trees toppled, mountains were destroyed, and a shocking mushroom cloud, as if a nuclear bomb had been detonated, soared into the sky in the southern section of the Petra Mountains.

Then, a second one... a third one... a fourth one...

It was evident just how wary and resentful the United States military was of these so-called aliens, the Decepticons and Autobots.

They had deployed this, the most powerful type of bomb among the conventional weapons possessed by the United States military.

And there was more than just one!

The successive explosions soon shocked all of Jordan, and even its surrounding countries—Israel, Saudi Arabia, and even Egypt—were all shocked nationwide by these more than twenty Mother of All Bombs dropped and detonated by the United States military within Jordan.

Mountains crumbled, and the earth shook.

The flames brought by the explosions burned almost all vegetation within a seven or eight square kilometer radius to ash. The mushroom clouds soaring into the sky brought not only psychological terror, but the damage they caused even stirred the atmosphere within a surrounding area of dozens of square kilometers.

In a Jordanian village nearly twenty kilometers away from the explosion zone, within minutes of the Fuel-Air Explosive being detonated, well water boiled, chickens and dogs collapsed, and even some villagers grabbed their throats, feeling that even breathing had become difficult.

Ironhide, who had soon rushed out of the Petra Mountains and reached the nearby highway, was also blown left and right by the shockwave of the explosion. A dull and sorrowful honking sound emanated from the heavy pickup truck he had transformed into.

He wanted to turn back to save his companions, but reason told him this was the best opportunity; he had to get away from here as quickly as possible and take the Matrix of Leadership to Optimus Prime.

"I'm sorry, my brothers, my friends..."

The dull and sorrowful honking sound echoed all the way, and Ironhide's speed increased rather than decreased, driving rapidly along a highway that led straight to the Red Sea.

The meeting point he had agreed upon with the Autobots transporting Optimus Prime's remains was Aswan, a major town in southern Egypt.

If the previous United States military bombardment had caused enough damage to The Fallen, he might just make it in time.

PS:

Sorry, my train of thought hasn't been very smooth these past two days.
