Chapter 618: The Resurrection of Optimus Prime
After swimming for a full several hundred kilometers on the floor of the Red Sea, Ironhide finally returned to land.
At this moment, not a trace of his former spirit could be seen on him.
The massive explosion that occurred within Jordan covered the entire area where they had been engaging the Decepticons and The Fallen.
Ironhide had indeed underestimated humans, and thus did not fully understand the power of the weapons manufactured by many humans on Earth.
But as a weapons expert, by capturing data such as air temperature, wind speed, and geological tremors, he could still roughly estimate the power of the bombs the U. S. military had subsequently dropped.
It was no surprise: all the Autobots, including his lover Chromia, were likely finished.
He had lost his lover, lost his companions, and lost his comrades-in-arms.
Just to protect a possibility whose truth remained unknown, Ironhide could not help but begin to doubt whether doing so was right or wrong.
However, he did not remain lost for long; as a Commander, measuring from the perspective of the entire Autobot faction, even if the hope of resurrecting the Leader Optimus Prime was only a sliver, it was worth him and more Autobots trading their lives for it.
Without a Leader, the true catastrophe for the Autobots would arrive.
To say nothing else, the mere existence of outliers like Megatron and The Fallen was not something ordinary Autobot Warriors could handle.
On the planet Cybertron, whether Autobot or Decepticon, the Leader was always linked to the Commander-in-Chief and was synonymous with the highest combat power of the Autobots and Decepticons.
After firming his resolve, Ironhide did not delay on the shore.
If the Matrix of Leadership could save Optimus Prime, then the other sacrificed companions and his lover also had the possibility of being resurrected.
The most urgent task was to reach the remains of Optimus Prime as quickly as possible.
After arriving on Earth, Ironhide had already changed one of his transformation modes into a heavy-duty pickup truck.
After transforming into this vehicle type, they, as Mechanical Life, could perfectly simulate all the performance of this means of transport and surpass it.
Therefore, in Africa, where the road quality was poor, Ironhide's travel speed was not affected much.
Throughout the journey, he was speeding at over three hundred kilometers per hour toward Aswan, a major southern town in Egypt.
Aswan was the meeting place he had agreed upon with the Autobots from Sori Base.
The distance from the Autobot base in Sori to Aswan was further than the distance Ironhide had to travel from Jordan.
However, considering that this entire route had fairly flat roads, although they had to cross several countries along the way, with the speed of the Autobots, they should arrive earlier than Ironhide.
This was also Ironhide's request; in order to escort the remains of Optimus Prime north, every Autobot Warrior remaining at the base who could still move had to be deployed.
He knew well that he was being pursued by The Fallen and the Decepticon Legion, and he had to be fully prepared.
Ironhide had landed near the waters of Safaga Port, and because he had rushed toward Aswan anxiously after coming ashore, an hour later, he had already arrived in Nasser City, only a few dozen kilometers away from Aswan.
He sped along the suburban road; fortunately, it was already nighttime, which saved him quite a bit of trouble.
Even so, there were still many vehicles along the way that noticed this heavy-duty pickup truck with a speed comparable to a supercar.
When he was still more than twenty kilometers from Aswan, Ironhide suddenly captured a familiar energy fluctuation, and not long after, a purple motorcycle appeared in his field of vision.
"Commander..."
The familiar, enchanting female voice came from the mouth of the beautiful woman projected by that motorcycle; it was the female Autobot Elita One.
"According to your orders, we have already transported the Leader's remains to Aswan!"
"Thank you for your hard work!"
Ironhide forcibly suppressed the grief in his heart, answered in a deep voice, and immediately said: "Lead me there quickly; the Matrix of Leadership has been obtained... The Fallen and the Decepticons should still be tracking me... Only by resurrecting the Leader do we have the possibility of continuing to resist the Decepticons and The Fallen!"
"Please follow me!"
Elita One accelerated to get in front of him and began to guide the route for Ironhide.
She did not yet know what had happened in Jordan and, not seeing her sister Chromia, could not help but ask curiously: "Why don't I see Bumblebee and the others? How much longer until Chromia and the others arrive?"
Answering her was Ironhide's silence; the two Autobots drove one after the other for a full several kilometers before Ironhide sadly broke the awkwardness.
"I am sorry, Elita One... While searching for the Matrix of Leadership, we encountered Astrotrain and the others who had previously attacked the Leader, and then The Fallen... To cover my retreat with the Matrix of Leadership, they fought The Fallen to the death... Their current status is unknown..."
Bumblebee and the others' situation now would definitely not be good; the power of that batch of human-made bombs after being detonated was too astonishing, already no worse than many high-power Energy Weapons manufactured by Cybertronians.
And it was a saturation bombing with as many as twenty-plus bombs packed together.
I fear that the vast majority of Autobots would have perished there, just like Sideswipe, who fought to the death to entangle The Fallen to cover his escape, or like Ironhide's comrade who died in battle earlier.
Elita One was silent; female Autobots were an extremely rare special group on the planet Cybertron, and every one that died was one less, not to mention her sister Chromia.
The two Autobots sped along the road in silence until, as they approached Aswan, Elita One, who had not spoken for a long time, suddenly turned and drove into the Gobi desert outside the city.
Not long after entering the Gobi, the energy fluctuations familiar to Ironhide began to appear gradually.
Soon after, several vehicles with bodies still covered in scars appeared in their field of vision: "Commander, we have already transported the Leader's remains here!"
Several Autobots escorted them as they drove deep into the Gobi.
Ironhide and the others soon arrived at a ruin deep in the Gobi; this ruin looked to be at least several hundred years old.
Such abandoned buildings were everywhere in Egypt, either abandoned due to war, or more likely due to the desertification caused by the decrease in the Nile River's water volume.
"Commander..."
"Commander..."
"Commander..."
As Ironhide walked along, over a dozen scarred Autobot Warriors and a dozen or so Normal Autobots greeted him one after another.
After Optimus Prime passed away, he was the highest Commander of all Autobots here on Earth; this was an honor, but also a heavy responsibility.
When he saw the Autobot Leader—Optimus Prime—placed in the ruins, looking as if he were asleep.
The heavy-duty pickup truck that Ironhide had transformed into underwent a sudden, drastic change, quickly becoming his combat form.
The female Autobot Arcee was quietly guarding the remains of Optimus Prime; seeing him arrive, she nodded slightly at him and then gave up her position.
"Leader, I have returned!"
Ironhide bowed to the remains of Optimus Prime with a heavy expression, then slapped his own chest.
After a clattering sound of metal friction, a strangely shaped cone appeared in the field of vision of all the Autobots.
Ironhide picked it up, thinking of what Ratchet and Sam had discussed previously, and immediately aimed it at the extinguished Spark in Optimus Prime's chest and thrust it in fiercely.
It is truly miraculous; the Matrix of Leadership, which had shown no reaction at all, suddenly burst forth with a blinding blue light after piercing Optimus Prime's chest.
Then, amidst the surprise and excitement of all the Autobots, Optimus Prime's body moved.
