Chapter 625: Low-Temperature Bomb (Second Update)
For a long time, Sun Cheng had been pondering a question.
If, for some reason, he truly had to clash or even fight against powerful existences like Megatron, Optimus Prime, or perhaps Starscream or Shockwave, how could he turn the unfavorable situation around?
This massive disparity brought about by strength was far from something that could be reversed by mere schemes.
He had thought of many methods, even utilizing his own computational power, and even the Super Intelligence within Base No. 2—Huan—to simulate many possibilities together.
In the end, the only method Sun Cheng found was to utilize massive corps-level combat, using the consumption of massive resources to trade for a possibility.
And he was indeed doing exactly that now, although in his own view, this time was clearly lacking in preparation.
"Damn vermin!"
When the first special Depleted Uranium Armor-Piercing Shell hit The Fallen at a speed exceeding Mach 5, although it did not easily penetrate and trigger a massive internal explosion as it did when dealing with various countries' main battle tanks on Earth during tests.
But the special Depleted Uranium Armor-Piercing Shell still managed to injure The Fallen in the end.
The moment the warhead struck The Fallen, the high temperature of the explosion caused his body's surface armor to become no longer indestructible for an instant, and the warhead pierced into his body, albeit only by a dozen centimeters or so.
Then, the second... the third...
Aided by Sun Cheng's computational power, under his control, the twenty-four Heavy Artillery pieces—which had been modified and upgraded by the engineers of Base No. 2 from 2S19 self-propelled howitzers purchased from the Russians—had their power and accuracy improved by leaps and bounds.
The electromagnetic shock caused by the explosion of an Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb could damage the electronic components within the vast majority of Mechanical Lifeforms.
Sun Cheng had previously discovered when testing the power of electromagnetic weapons that once the electronic components inside were damaged, even the most powerful Decepticon Warrior would experience a loss of mobility for varying durations.
This was also the reason why he had ordered three Yasen-class nuclear submarines to launch Electromagnetic Pulse Bombs a short while ago to attack The Fallen, who was engaged in battle with the Autobots.
Although many Autobots suffered heavy damage after the Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb exploded, it also successfully affected The Fallen, causing him to fail to dodge the subsequent U. S. military bombing.
Although, Sun Cheng had not expected that the astonishingly powerful Fuel-Air Explosive would fail to severely injure The Fallen.
After being hit by over a dozen Depleted Uranium Armor-Piercing Shells in succession, The Fallen's powerful recovery ability finally allowed him to endure the effects of the Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb.
"Damn vermin, you have successfully angered me..."
Quickly jumping down from the top of the Pyramid, The Fallen dodged the continuously incoming Depleted Uranium Armor-Piercing Shells while charging toward Sun Cheng.
Because of his rage, his face looked even more twisted and hideous than before, though the dozen or so sharp, long Depleted Uranium warheads still stuck in The Fallen's body made him look truly disheveled right now.
Sun Cheng was also not sparing in consuming the energy within his body so that he could recover as quickly as possible.
The previous bombardment from the Electromagnetic Pulse Bombs from the three Yasen-class nuclear submarines, while injuring The Fallen and him, had also rendered all the Heavy Artillery robots deployed here useless.
However, Sun Cheng was not panicked; he still had a few trump cards he had not yet revealed.
"You think you've won?"
Sun Cheng smiled as he looked at The Fallen, who was getting closer and closer, and did not make a counterattack.
The damage the Electromagnetic Pulse Bomb dealt to him was far more severe than to The Fallen.
This was even with his body having undergone special treatment and having been temporarily fitted with an anti-electromagnetic coating.
Facing this Cybertronian ancestor who was not in his prime state, even though Sun Cheng already possessed near Commander-class combat power, he still appeared exceptionally powerless.
The Fallen kicked him flying with one foot, looking at Sun Cheng hideously; he would not so easily kill this traitor who dared to steal his weapon and make his injuries even worse.
"... Want to challenge me, try again in your next life..."
He drew his Bone Staff and plunged it into Sun Cheng's chest, hoisting him high, and looked at him with a cruel smile: "You should be proud, to have injured me with these means... it makes me very angry..."
Sun Cheng finally recovered a bit, grabbed the Bone Staff stuck in his chest, and no fear of death could be seen on his face.
In his eyes, the blue light was hotter than ever before.
The Spark, protected by thick armor, was also burning violently with unprecedented efficiency.
With a thought, another round of shells arrived.
The Fallen did not perceive the crisis approaching; having just suffered a loss earlier, his terrifying computational power had already calculated the firing trajectories of those self-propelled howitzers located dozens of kilometers away based on the incoming shells.
When the calculation revealed that the target of this round of shelling was not himself, The Fallen did not bother to dodge.
His head slammed violently into Sun Cheng, causing the metal on his head to shatter, with fragments splashing everywhere.
Seeing the Bone Staff being gripped by Sun Cheng, The Fallen did not exert force to pull it out.
His other hand transformed into a Laser Cannon, which he aimed fiercely at his right leg.
"Boom!"
An Energy Bullet fired, instantly severing his right leg.
The Fallen grinned hideously and raised his Energy Cannon again, aiming it at Sun Cheng's left leg.
Unfortunately, he still failed to see that fear and despair he liked most on Sun Cheng's face.
Because Sun Cheng had already seen the dawn of victory, "Forgot to tell you, this time, it's not an Armor-Piercing Shell!"
Mechanical Lifeforms do not have the human sense of pain, although being injured would still make them uncomfortable.
The Fallen was slightly stunned upon hearing this, and at that moment, the torrential rain of shells had already fallen.
"Bang!"
"Bang... bang..."
The dense rain of shells fell like Hail around Sun Cheng and The Fallen.
Only occasionally would one or two shells hit The Fallen, but not a single shell could break through the surface armor of his body.
The Fallen sneered and was just about to mock Sun Cheng's little tricks when his expression suddenly changed slightly, and he looked down at the places that had been hit.
And also looked toward the direction where the shells had just fallen, "Frost..."
A thick white mist instantly rose up, rising from the ground, and he felt his feet being firmly stuck to something.
With two red beams shooting from his eyes, The Fallen instantly understood the reason.
A type of unknown shell, which after landing, sequentially absorbed the heat in the surrounding air, and then froze the soft sand and soil, along with his Mecha.
"Low-Temperature Bomb... hope you like it..."
In the past, Sector 7 had once dug up the sleeping Megatron in the Arctic and used Liquid Nitrogen to artificially create a low temperature, causing him to sleep in the Sector 7 Base for over a hundred years.
Sun Cheng had later ordered his engineers to study it and discovered that under ultra-low temperature conditions, the activity of the Spark and electronic components within a Decepticon would indeed slow down significantly.
This means that not only can ultra-high temperatures harm Mechanical Life, but ultra-low temperatures can as well.
Under his orders, Base No. 2 had been researching the Low-Temperature Bomb.
This batch of Low-Temperature Bombs, which were sent over from Base No. 2 along with other weapons not long ago because Sun Cheng had developed a craving for the Stellar Extraction Tower, was finally being put to use now.
Watching the white frost spread bit by bit over The Fallen's chassis, Sun Cheng sneered as he drew his Ship-Slaying Blade, raised it high, and slashed through the Bone Staff stuck in his own chest.
Leaping into the air and landing on the Pyramid dozens of meters away, he watched The Fallen gradually freezing, while controlling twenty-four self-propelled grenade launchers dozens of kilometers away to fire off all the remaining Low-Temperature Bombs.
"Hailishi, two rounds of saturation fire..."
After sending his current coordinates to Hailishi, who was over two hundred kilometers away, Sun Cheng struggled to control his chassis and transform back into jet mode.
He currently did not have enough weapons to kill The Fallen; severely wounding him, causing him pain, and making The Fallen afraid to come looking for trouble again for the time being was one of the few choices he had.
Of course, Sun Cheng would not let him off easily.
A drone had already taken the coordinates of The Fallen's Stellar Extraction Tower and flown toward Soli.
The Matrix of Leadership seemed to have already fallen into the hands of the Autobots; if it were truly as miraculous as the legends of Cybertron claimed, their Leader, Optimus Prime, should have already been resurrected.
As for that troublesome fellow The Fallen, it was better to leave him for Optimus Prime to deal with.
PS:
Sorry, this chapter didn't go very smoothly.
I had just written a version where the protagonist self-destructs to escape, but I wasn't satisfied with it, so I deleted most of it and rewrote it.
