Chapter 639: A Complete Break (Part Two)
"Are you sure it's NEST?"
Optimus Prime's voice was much deeper; they had cooperated with NEST for over a year and had made many human friends there.
The people at NEST should know about the Autobots' respect for the dead.
If they knew this taboo and still chose to violate it, then such friends were not worth having.
Arcee gave a firm answer immediately: "I am certain, because I discovered many familiar faces there, including William and the others."
Ironhide's angry voice rang out at once: "William, those despicable humans. I said long ago that these greedy Earthlings could not be trusted. Leader, please allow me to go first!"
All along, Ironhide had been one of the voices among the Autobots most opposed to cooperating with the United States government.
In his view, the insatiable greed displayed by the United States government time and time again was not only disgusting but also detrimental to the interests of the Autobots.
As Optimus Prime's lieutenant, he naturally opposed cooperation with the United States government.
Along the way, in order not to attract human attention, the convoy kept their speed at around 100 mph, which seemed relatively normal.
Although this convoy, composed of dozens of different car models and types, was still quite eye-catching from a human perspective.
"Ironhide, don't be impulsive!"
Optimus Prime's good self-restraint allowed him to control his anger for the moment and comfort Ironhide.
"We will speed up a bit. Arcee, you continue to monitor from there; we will be there soon!"
"Understood!"
As for humans wanting to trade the corpses of those Decepticons, Optimus Prime could not control it and did not want to.
After understanding Earth's history and human greed, he was very clear that once humans discovered the existence of Cybertronians, they would try every possible means to obtain alien technology.
Even if he stopped the transaction today, what about tomorrow or the day after?
As long as the Decepticon Legion still existed, the war between the Autobots and the Decepticon Legion could never end.
A war originating from different ideologies was even more cruel than partisan strife or religious wars—it was a fight to the death.
The Autobots could not guarantee that they would be victorious every time and be able to dispose of the Decepticon corpses after the battle.
Therefore, as long as humans had the intent in the future, they would always be able to obtain some.
Once humans researched something from Cybertronian technology, it would definitely be able to rapidly improve their technological level.
One only needed to look at the technological gap between the United States and other countries on Earth to know this. After Optimus Prime cooperated with the United States government, he already knew that they had secretly studied Megatron's body for over a hundred years; although they only obtained some superficial technology, it had greatly advanced the technological level of this planet.
"I hope that one day humans will awaken and not follow our old path to self-destruction!"
The journey of over thirty kilometers was quickly covered, and the Autobots arrived at their destination.
When they reached the destination, the sand pit that Ironhide had hurriedly dug in the nearby Gobi Desert to bury his fallen Autobot comrades was now surrounded by a circle of color-steel fencing.
Several high-horsepower CH-53 transport helicopters hovered above the color-steel fencing, with steel cables dropping down from the transport planes as if they were busy hoisting some heavy objects.
The convoy was still several hundred meters away from the target when they were discovered.
An attack helicopter flew straight toward them while hovering, and at the same time, a voice from the aircraft ordering them to leave rang out.
"Warning, you have entered the U. S. -Egypt joint exercise area. Please turn back immediately, or we will begin to attack!"
"Warning, you have entered the U. S. -Egypt joint exercise area. Please turn back immediately, or we will begin to attack!"
"Warning, you have entered the U. S. -Egypt joint exercise area. Please turn back immediately, or we will begin to attack!"
The warning sounded three times in succession, seeing that the Autobot convoy below was still continuously approaching the area blocked by the color-steel fencing.
The attack helicopter in the sky grew impatient; while notifying the rear, it began to flip the weapon switches, and the aerial rocket launchers had already locked onto the convoy below.
Ironhide was already very impatient; he suddenly transformed, leaped up, and grabbed the AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter that was only hovering at a low altitude of twenty or thirty meters.
"Greedy humans, you have angered the Autobots!"
The AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter weighed only a few tons; how could it withstand the immense pulling force of the Commander-class Ironhide?
Amidst the exclamations of the crew, Ironhide brought the now-uncontrollable attack helicopter down from the sky toward the ground.
"Stop!"
Optimus Prime also transformed into his combat form, stopping Ironhide, who was in a fit of rage, from his intention to smash the helicopter into the nearby color-steel fencing.
The Autobots following behind him transformed one after another in quick succession.
A squad of dozens of Autobots appeared, which immediately caused the detectors of the Tombstone unit to start jumping wildly.
"Sir, a large number of alien signals detected!"
As the technician rushed out of a detection vehicle to report to Major William, he was looking out beyond the color-steel fencing with an ugly expression.
"I know!"
He replied calmly, his voice trembling.
The crew of the attack helicopter that had just flown out to drive away the Autobot convoy had already transmitted the intelligence that they had discovered the Autobots.
Major William did not know how to face these old friends of the past, nor did he know how to handle the subsequent events.
Thanks to the United States' world-leading space surveillance system, the war between the Decepticons and the Autobots that had occurred in Egypt not long ago had already been discovered and recorded by American spy satellites.
Two days ago, after NEST finished recovering the Decepticon and Autobot corpses in Jordan, the greedy American politicians set their sights on this batch of buried Autobot corpses they had discovered in Egypt.
This was also the reason why the special envoy sent by the United States so easily accepted the Egypt-led "cake-slicing" negotiations, taking only five complete Decepticon Cannon Fodder Warrior remains and some other incomplete remains.
It was because they had long discovered the burial site of the Autobots and were prepared to use the name of the joint exercise with Egypt to secretly dispatch a Tombwind Squad to dig up all the Autobot corpses and then use Navy transport planes to send them to the U. S. military vessels currently docked on the Red Sea, over a hundred kilometers away.
However, no one expected that the Autobot Leader—Optimus Prime—who had been filmed in previous surveillance being brutally killed by the Decepticons, had actually been resurrected.
And they had run into the Tombwind Squad that had come to steal the Autobot corpses. In this instant, countless thoughts raced through Major William's mind.
Having been in contact with the Autobots for over a year, he immediately realized one thing: this was going to be a disaster!
The United States government would likely have to pay a painful price for their greed.
