Chapter 649: The Hammer of the Prime (Part 1) - Please Subscribe

~7 min read 1,320 words

"Huh?"

The Soul-Harvesting Spear in his hand had been awakened before it even absorbed the energy within Sun Cheng's body, which truly gave him a start.

After all, it was a divine artifact forged by Solus Prime of the Thirteen Primes of Cybertron for The Fallen; he had already experienced the fact that this divine artifact possessed a certain degree of self-awareness.

However, the last time he retrieved the Soul-Harvesting Spear from the Stellar Extraction Tower, the feeling this divine artifact gave Sun Cheng was one filled with rage and resentment.

It was as if the Soul-Harvesting Spear understood that it had been abandoned by its master, The Fallen.

Yet at this moment, it was actually conveying an emotion of excitement and agitation, which truly left Sun Cheng somewhat baffled.

"What on earth is wrong with this thing?"

The Soul-Harvesting Spear, clutched tightly in Sun Cheng's hand, was trembling violently, as if it were trying to struggle free from his grasp.

Unfortunately, it was ultimately just a weapon; although it possessed a certain degree of self-awareness, it existed merely to facilitate the user during combat and could not possibly struggle free from his hand on its own.

Even so, because of its violent struggling, Sun Cheng had to continuously increase his grip strength to ensure the Soul-Harvesting Spear would not break free from his hand.

"What is wrong with the Soul-Harvesting Spear? Did it sense energy and want to draw energy from the magma?"

Sun Cheng had only recently acquired the Soul-Harvesting Spear, and he had taken it out this time wanting to take the opportunity to study how much of its capabilities remained.

Seeing the Soul-Harvesting Spear struggling continuously, attempting to break free from his hand.

Sun Cheng hesitated for a moment, then once again held it and floated above the magma.

When one end of the Soul-Harvesting Spear submerged into the magma, the silver-gray body of the spear immediately underwent some changes, and a few orange-red lines gradually appeared on the spear's body.

Although Sun Cheng did not yet know much about the Soul-Harvesting Spear, with one hand still gripping it tightly, he could vaguely feel that the Soul-Harvesting Spear was instinctively absorbing the thermal energy from the magma and converting it into energy.

However, it did not stop trembling.

On the contrary, once the end of the spear body made contact with the magma, the trembling of the Soul-Harvesting Spear became even more violent, giving Sun Cheng the feeling that it might break free at any moment.

Suddenly, a strange emotion appeared in his consciousness, and Sun Cheng looked in surprise at the Soul-Harvesting Spear still struggling in his hand, "Hmm?"

Just a moment ago, this divine artifact, filled with resentment and anger, seemed to have realized it could not struggle free from his hand, and for the first time, it actively initiated contact with his consciousness, conveying a very simple and primitive emotion to him.

"Let go... want to go... there..."

Within the magma, there seemed to be some place attracting this divine artifact.

Sun Cheng narrowed his eyes slightly, gradually reacting.

"Could it be that item hidden by the Beast General?"

Thinking of this, how could he hold back.

However, Sun Cheng would not easily let it go as the Soul-Harvesting Spear wished.

He increased the grip strength of the hand holding the Soul-Harvesting Spear by a few notches to prevent this divine artifact from breaking free from his hand.

Sun Cheng gripped the Soul-Harvesting Spear tightly, attempting to communicate with it: "Take me to the place that is attracting you, otherwise I will put you back where you were just now!"

The Soul-Harvesting Spear possessed a certain degree of self-awareness; he believed this divine artifact should be able to understand the threat in his words.

Sure enough, after he spoke, the Soul-Harvesting Spear suddenly struggled even more violently, but unfortunately, Sun Cheng had been guarding against it all along.

After struggling for two or three minutes, upon discovering that it truly could not break free, it seemed to resign itself to its fate.

Soon, another very simple and primitive emotion was conveyed, "Okay!"

Sun Cheng smiled slightly, then, holding the Soul-Harvesting Spear, he charged into the magma once again.

He did not know where the thing attracting the Soul-Harvesting Spear was, but once he entered the magma, the reaction of the Soul-Harvesting Spear became even more intense.

"Is it this direction? I see..."

Sun Cheng tried several directions and swam for a distance without any response from the Soul-Harvesting Spear, until he chose a new direction, at which point it began to tremble violently.

Realizing immediately that he had found the right direction, he swam along that path.

In the thick magma, Sun Cheng soon lost his sense of direction.

Fortunately, the Soul-Harvesting Spear kept reminding him; after changing directions and swimming for over forty minutes, he noticed the Soul-Harvesting Spear in his hand began to tremble crazily, and the force of its struggle was so great that Sun Cheng found it somewhat strenuous.

As a result, caught off guard for a moment, it actually managed to break free.

The Soul-Harvesting Spear shot out like a launched Missile, whooshing away diagonally upward, and quickly disappeared from sight.

"Oh no!"

Sun Cheng was shocked to have it break free.

He could not use his Auxiliary Power System in the magma and had to rely entirely on swimming to move forward, so his speed naturally could not compare to the Soul-Harvesting Spear.

Although the Soul-Harvesting Spear was currently a spear that devoured its master, it was still, after all, the weapon of The Fallen; Sun Cheng figured he would study it well, and even if he could not use it freely in the future like Megatronus did in the past, he could use it as the Core of the Stellar Extraction Tower when needed to create the AllSpark.

Worried that it would be lost because of this, Sun Cheng steeled his heart.

He immediately activated his Auxiliary Power System again, with thrusters extending from his legs and soles, pushing him to move quickly through the magma as he gave chase in the direction the Soul-Harvesting Spear had disappeared.

Just two or three minutes later, he felt himself suddenly burst out of the magma and arrive in an underground volcanic space.

"Another underground volcano?"

He subconsciously looked toward the top of the volcanic space and, as expected, did not find the familiar tunnel entrance.

Sun Cheng knew then that he had entered the space of another underground volcano.

This underground volcanic space was significantly larger than the one connected beneath Trindade Peak.

The magma within this underground volcanic space was even calmer than the magma in the space beneath Trindade.

The magma was about a hundred meters below the island base above; Sun Cheng hovered in mid-air, and after subconsciously scanning his surroundings, his eyes were immediately drawn to a small island in the center of the volcanic space that seemed to spread out from the magma.

Calling it a small island was not quite accurate; it would be more appropriate to describe it as a reef.

In the center of the volcanic magma was a nearly circular small reef with a radius of about twenty meters.

The composition of that reef was likely rock formed from cooled magma, dark brown in its entirety.

And the reason it was able to attract Sun Cheng's gaze was that when he looked over, he was shocked to discover that on this small reef in the center of the submarine volcanic space's magma, there were two strangely shaped, massive weapons snuggled together.

One of them, a silver-gray Long Spear, was all too familiar to Sun Cheng; it was precisely the Soul-Harvesting Spear that had struggled and escaped from his hand just minutes ago.

And the other one was a weapon that looked exactly like a forging hammer from Earth.
