Chapter 66: Meeting the Raid Again
Avoiding radar, electromagnetic waves, and satellites the entire way, Sun Cheng arrived at the base of Onslaught, and upon seeing him again, he could not help but be startled.
"Lord Onslaught, this is..."
Although he had considered countless possibilities as to why Onslaught had not summoned him for over twenty days, Sun Cheng had guessed that this guy might be tracking him to find the AllSpark, and he had also wondered if he would take the initiative to contact Starscream again; after all, Onslaught's strength was there, and even if he had swallowed Starscream's two nuclear missiles, that schemer could likely endure it.
However, when Sun Cheng saw him again, the moment he caught sight of the cracks on Onslaught's body, his expression changed abruptly.
"You've come..."
Onslaught stood there quietly, nodding at him with a detached tone, which counted as a greeting.
Sun Cheng saw him limp forward two steps before pointing to a body placed in the corner of the base's main hall that had clearly been designed already, saying: "The things you wanted; the materials are a bit worse than your own, there are some metals I couldn't get!"
Nodding, Sun Cheng felt somewhat disappointed, but he did not pay much mind to it; after all, this body was not for his own use, so its importance naturally dropped a notch in his mind, not to mention that he had accidentally obtained Atlas from Onslaught earlier, and that guy had helped him quite a lot recently.
Subconsciously looking at Onslaught's leg, he could not help but gasp.
The obvious lack of harmony with Onslaught's body—having spent quite a bit of effort researching this aspect recently, how could he not see that this must have been something Onslaught had just replaced for himself.
After hesitating for a moment, Sun Cheng ultimately could not suppress the curiosity in his heart and asked cautiously: "Lord Onslaught, who did you have a conflict with?"
"Starscream!"
Onslaught bared his teeth, his ferocious face unexpectedly wearing an excited smile, "Haven't you already guessed it!"
Indeed, currently on Earth, besides a small number of human nations, the only one capable of causing him such painful injuries was likely Starscream.
With Onslaught's rigid personality of wanting to take two steps for every one he takes, he would never act easily unless there was profit to be made and the probability of success was very high.
The last transaction with Sun Cheng was like this; despite sensing a Spark on him and confirming that Sun Cheng had definitely come into contact with the AllSpark, he had acted that way.
But this guy's personality was too steady, and his speed was not as good as Sun Cheng's, so he dared not gamble on what the outcome would be if he could not control him immediately, so he preferred to choose a steadier path, which was to trade with him.
By the same logic, it was not hard to guess that the only one on Earth currently capable of injuring Onslaught and hurting him to this extent was Starscream.
However, guessing was one thing, but Sun Cheng still could not figure out how this guy had come into conflict with Starscream—was it just because of those two nuclear missiles?
Onslaught, who had suffered not-insignificant injuries, unexpectedly looked to be in a very good mood.
Seeming to see the question in his heart, this guy actually took the initiative to ask him, "Did you not receive that set of coordinates?"
"Hmm?"
Sun Cheng looked at him, full of confusion, not understanding what he meant.
Onslaught smiled and did not hide it from him: "Six days ago, a certain place in the Earth's North Pole suddenly emitted a set of obscure coordinates. It was an emergency communication left using Elder Script. Although it covered the entire Earth in an instant, it seems only us old guys received it. Because I was curious, I went to the North Pole, and then I met Starscream there! He had found a little trinket, hmm, a Communicator left by someone unknown that would be automatically triggered after more than a hundred years!"
Speaking to this point, he suddenly shut his mouth, refusing to mention why he had come into conflict with Starscream; it looked like they had probably fought a battle.
However, one could tell just by looking at Onslaught's expression: either Starscream's current state was no better than his, or he had made the other party suffer a loss in other aspects.
Sun Cheng looked at him, full of doubts; Onslaught stopped at a shallow mention, leaving him with even more confusion.
A Communicator from over a hundred years ago?
It seemed to be something left behind by an incredible big shot!
It was not that Sun Cheng did not know about Elder Script; Barricade had let it slip before, and he had later asked Onslaught about it. It was said to be an ancient script passed down from the ancient era of the planet Cybertron that only Leaders understood.
Sun Cheng had a mind to ask more, but seeing that the other party clearly had no intention of continuing, he had no choice but to cast all those perplexities and confusion to the back of his mind.
Seeming to have only just noticed the changes in Sun Cheng, Onslaught suddenly sized him up for a while and then suddenly grinned.
"Is this the Enhancement you did for your own body?"
His mouth kept emitting some strange sounds like steel being chewed, so much so that for a moment, Sun Cheng could not tell if he looked down on his method of Enhancement.
However, he was not afraid of others mocking this appearance, which was so ugly that even he himself wanted to cry, so he admitted it readily: "I met an Autobot a while ago and had a skirmish with him. I discovered that my two Rapid-fire Machine Guns couldn't cause any damage to the opponent, so I tried replacing them with a human weapon, though unfortunately, it can only be used after transforming."
Indeed, the Vulcan Cannon Sun Cheng was currently equipped with could only be used in the Reaper Drone form, because he could not redesign a complete ammunition supply system inside his own body. Atlas had been busy for so long, and all he had managed to do was utilize Onslaught's previous design to allow him to supply ammunition to this Vulcan Cannon in the Reaper Drone form.
Hearing this, light flickered in Onslaught's eyes.
He watched Sun Cheng quietly, as if hesitating, and even more like he was thinking.
After a good while, he saw Onslaught unexpectedly nod at him, "It can be considered a blessing in disguise for you. Remember to touch the AllSpark again next time; there will be a pleasant surprise!"
Hearing this, Sun Cheng's eyes lit up, and he hurriedly asked: "Lord Onslaught, could I trouble you to be more specific?"
He glanced at Sun Cheng and did not answer him immediately.
Onslaught turned and walked out of the hall, entering a passageway to head toward the depths.
Without his permission, although Sun Cheng was disappointed and curious, he still held back and waited there.
Not long after, he saw Onslaught carrying a huge turret with dual barrels that must have weighed dozens of tons, walking out from the depths of the passageway.
"This is the Railgun..."
Because it still retained some of its original appearance, Sun Cheng recognized at a glance that this was the Railgun he had once seen Onslaught design for himself.
After Onslaught skillfully disassembled it into a dense pile of parts, he summoned a dozen Decepticon Workers; it looked like they were all the members in this base of his.
"Wait a moment. Once the Workers install it on my body, we can set off for the AllSpark..."
He gave an instruction, then immediately transformed back into the heavy-duty truck form and stayed there quietly.
Sun Cheng did not give up and continued to ask: "Lord Onslaught, can you be more specific about what you said just now?"
After he finished speaking, even he himself held no hope, but unexpectedly, he heard his voice coming from inside Onslaught's cab.
"... There are only two ways for Decepticons to improve their strength: Evolution and Enhancement. Evolution is unattainable. It is something every Decepticon dreams of; it is a comprehensive improvement of the Spark and the body. But because Evolution requires a very massive amount of energy and Life Force, especially the latter—as far as I know, besides the AllSpark, there are very few means to obtain a small amount of Life Force—many Decepticons don't necessarily get a single Evolution until their bodies completely decay."
"And Enhancement is an artificially realized improvement of one's own strength, such as by strengthening or even replacing a new Core, or replacing a stronger body. You should have deep experience with this yourself. Although Enhancement can also improve one's strength, compared to Evolution, it is full of drawbacks and is far from comparable!"
Indeed, after Sun Cheng had replaced his body with a new one earlier, although the Core had also been strengthened by Onslaught, it was simply incomparable to the Evolution he had experienced after coming into contact with the AllSpark.
"The AllSpark is a very magical treasure. It possesses massive and incredible Life Force. Not only can it replenish our consumed energy and heal injuries, but even if you have already obtained one Evolution and it is impossible to evolve again in a short time, the magical power it possesses can still perfect your body, constantly adjusting it toward the most perfect direction. Do you know what this means?"
Sun Cheng was not a fool to begin with. Now that Onslaught had spoken so bluntly, his eyes lit up fiercely, and his face was full of irrepressible, excited smiles.
