Chapter 706: Dark Side of the Moon

~7 min read 1,287 words

The former Leader of the Autobots, Sentinel Prime, has a reputation within the Autobot faction that can only be described as severely polarized.

Some Autobots are loyal to him to the point of faith, almost regarding him as a god.

However, there are also no small number of Autobots who call him a dictator or tyrant behind his back, because Sentinel Prime has always controlled the Autobots with the coldest, most iron-fisted methods.

In order to train Autobots who yearned for peace and were not adept at fighting into qualified Warriors and soldiers, the number of Autobots who died at his hands was not much fewer than those killed by the Decepticons.

This naturally has to do with Sentinel Prime's past experiences; as a descendant of the Prime Dynasty who ruled Cybertron for many years, the Prime Sentinel Prime was selected by the great nobles who gradually seized more power behind the scenes during the middle and late periods of the Council of Ancients, and they helped him ascend the throne.

Those great nobles sensed Sentinel Prime's extraordinary nature from the very beginning; he possessed a more resolute character and greater ambition than other Cybertronians from the Primus Clan.

But the great nobles valued his youth more, fully believing they could use sophisticated political maneuvers to control this young and ambitious new king well, and ultimately make him a puppet under the control of the Council of Ancients.

In fact, the great nobles did indeed do quite well in the early stages.

For a very long time, they truly utilized Sentinel Prime's youth and ambition to keep him firmly under the Council's control.

The Council of Ancients even swindled the sacred relic—the AllSpark—which had always been kept by the Prime Dynasty, as well as several other legendary Yuanzu Weapons, from the then-immature Sentinel Prime in the name of the state, and placed them in the Shengxian Dian for safekeeping.

The deception and manipulation by the Council of Ancients taught this young Prime a good lesson, not only teaching him sophistication and methods but also causing the seed of not trusting others to be forever branded in Sentinel Prime's heart.

Later, in order to take revenge on those great nobles behind the Council of Ancients and reclaim power from their hands, Sentinel Prime did not hesitate to cooperate with the gladiator slave he despised the most—Megatron—first building him into a civilian hero, and then bit by bit helping the equally ambitious Megatron onto the throne of the highest military Commander.

Although Megatron did not fail his expectations, and the two of them eventually joined forces to overthrow the corrupt rule of the Council of Ancients in the name of revolution.

But before Sentinel Prime could even warm the power he had obtained, Megatron, whom he was preparing to deal with next, had already taken a step ahead to form the Decepticon Legion, sparking the civil war between the Decepticons and the Autobots, which truly caught Sentinel Prime off guard.

In the ensuing civil war that lasted for millions of years, Megatron defeated Sentinel Prime severely on the battlefield more than once, driving the Autobots under his command into a steady retreat.

Having a pawn he had cultivated in the past climb onto his head to defecate, Sentinel Prime's anger can be imagined.

Facing voices of doubt within the Autobots, his response was always ruthless, cold-blooded suppression.

Prisons for political prisoners were not exclusive to the Decepticons; during the era of Sentinel Prime's rule, the Autobots also had their own special prisons.

Although his iron-fisted rule did indeed, to a large extent, gather the loose and un-warlike Autobots together.

But the voices of dissatisfaction suppressed by Sentinel Prime also kept increasing with each of his failures; Bumblebee was one of the many Autobots dissatisfied with Sentinel Prime's rule.

The fortress where he lived was once surrounded and suppressed by the army because an organization opposing Sentinel Prime's rule appeared there, and many Autobots Bumblebee was familiar with were sent to prison.

Even later, when Bumblebee applied to join the army, he was rejected because of the fortress where he was born.

There were many Autobots who had similar experiences to Bumblebee; if it were not for the fact that the Leader Optimus Prime respected his mentor very much, and Bumblebee respected Optimus Prime very much, he would not have wanted to accept this Task at all.

At least in Bumblebee's view, Optimus Prime was more suitable to serve as the Autobot Leader than Sentinel Prime.

Soon after driving out of the Zhuangji Tiankeng, Bumblebee was slowly advancing toward the target location along an arc-shaped route on the Dark Side of the Moon.

From Frenzy, the Autobots obtained a fairly accurate coordinate of the crashed spaceship.

However, along with it were the coordinates of the Base the Decepticons had established on the Moon, and that Decepticon Base was not far from the crash site.

So Bumblebee was very careful; he knew very well how miserable the outcome would be if he, acting alone, were discovered by the Decepticons.

Along the way, in order to avoid the Decepticon Moon Base, Bumblebee's speed was not fast.

Frenzy's intelligence was soon confirmed, at least the point that there was a Decepticon Base on the Moon was confirmed.

Because Bumblebee discovered quite a few Decepticon Workers; these slaves from the Decepticon Legion were diligently digging for the fallen metallic meteorites on the Moon.

Bumblebee even discovered several small factories built by the Workers; according to his analysis, these slaves of the Decepticon Legion seemed to be digging up the soil on the Moon and heating it to extract some kind of special substance.

After thinking for a moment, he figured out what the Decepticons were processing.

"Helium-3... they are extracting Helium-3!"

Helium-3 is a relatively clean nuclear fuel; because there are no neutrons in a Thermonuclear Reactor using Helium-3 (the thermonuclear reaction between Helium-3 and deuterium only produces non-radioactive protons), using Helium-3 as an energy source does not produce radiation and will not cause harm to the environment.

After the Cybertronian Civil War ended, the Autobots who were forced to retreat to a Cybertronian satellite established several nuclear power plants on that satellite, utilizing nuclear power, which they considered relatively backward, to convert into energy to replenish their consumption.

After collecting some lunar soil and analyzing it, Bumblebee soon reached a startling discovery.

The Helium-3 contained in the lunar soil was very rich; although nuclear power was very backward for Cybertronians who had long entered the era of high-purity energy.

But no matter how backward it was, it was still energy; if the Decepticons utilized it, they would likely be able to cultivate a massive army very quickly.

Realizing this, Bumblebee subconsciously wanted to destroy the Decepticon Workers he had discovered and the factories they used to extract Helium-3.

However, he soon thought of his Task, so he restrained himself from exposing his position, and instead quietly noted down the coordinates of these factories before quietly taking a detour and leaving.

On the Moon, a few days passed in the blink of an eye.

Bumblebee cautiously approached the spaceship crash site provided by Frenzy bit by bit; in these few days, he had already encountered Decepticons on the Moon many times.

On this Dark Side of the Moon, which is difficult for humans to observe, the Decepticons had established their Base here and had already built dozens of mines and factories of various types on the Dark Side of the Moon.

It was entirely thanks to him being careful enough that he had safely evaded them time and time again.

Finally, Bumblebee arrived at the spaceship crash site provided by Frenzy.
