Chapter 721: Heading to New Iacon (Part 1)

"The Autobots have finally established a base on Earth; this day has finally come!"

The Autobots had finally established a base on Earth. Although this was within Sun Cheng's expectations—after all, the reason the Autobots established a base on Earth, which had already given birth to a native civilization, was the result of him continuously exerting influence behind the scenes out of his own interests.

However, when Optimus Prime, this young Autobot Leader, truly established a base on Earth, he, the mastermind behind it, still couldn't help but feel a sense of shock.

It was a base, an Autobot base.

A base held extraordinary significance for Cybertronians. This concept first originated during the era of the Cybertronian Elder Council, when the unprecedentedly advanced technology also led to the highly corrupt lives of the nobles in the Yihui who dominated the entire planet of Cybertron.

In order to obtain more resources and energy for their own enjoyment, Cybertron launched an unprecedented wave of extraterrestrial exploration and colonization.

A large number of lower-class Cybertronians embarked on journeys to colonize alien planets, following one exploration spaceship after another.

One after another, alien colonies and cities were subsequently established on distant planets hundreds of billions or even trillions of kilometers away from the planet Cybertron.

The universe has never favored any single planet or race, so since the birth of the universe, it has successively nurtured countless life-bearing planets and civilizations.

Among these civilizations, although those that managed to develop into the interstellar era were one in ten thousand, when placed in the vast universe, the total number was quite considerable.

Just within the galaxy where the planet Cybertron is located, Cybertronians have successively encountered hundreds of interstellar civilizations with varying levels of technology.

And because of the competition for resource-rich planets and alien colonies, Cybertron has engaged in wars lasting from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of years with the vast majority of the interstellar civilizations it has encountered.

A base was a type of special structure that first emerged during this period on Cybertron's alien colonial planets.

According to the designs of the Cybertronians, a base is generally a large architectural complex composed of one or several habitable cities, a series of supporting facilities surrounding the cities, industrial and mining areas, material warehouses, and—most importantly—military fortresses and strongholds.

This type of large architectural complex, initially used by Cybertronians on alien colonial planets to defend against interstellar pirates and other interstellar civilizations, was later brought back to the planet Cybertron along with the transport spaceships traveling between the colonial planets and Cybertron.

During the revolution and the Cybertronian Civil War that broke out shortly thereafter, a large number of ancient, exquisite, and luxurious buildings and cities were easily destroyed by the Autobots and Decepticons.

Whether they were Autobot or Decepticon architects, they soon realized that those exquisite and luxurious buildings from the time of the Yihui were of no use in the face of war.

Consequently, the bases that had been transmitted back from alien colonies for the purpose of defending against interstellar pirates and alien plundering fleets were meticulously perfected and improved by Autobot and Decepticon architects, and were then rapidly manufactured in large numbers on the planet Cybertron.

This is why Sun Cheng attached such importance to the new base the Autobots were to establish on Earth, because an Autobot base meant at least one city belonging to the Autobots, a series of supporting facilities serving this city, vast industrial and mining areas, various military structures, and so on.

According to their previous observations, there were currently fewer than two hundred Autobots who had arrived on Earth.

The Autobots did not have the slave caste of Decepticon Workers, so many of their service and industrial tasks required civilians to complete.

Relying on the fewer than two hundred Autobots currently on Earth, they absolutely could not support the construction and operation of a base.

Not to mention that it was a new base named after the former Autobot capital!

"It seems Optimus Prime is prepared to, or has already, called for more Autobots to rush to Earth... The Mars Base must accelerate its construction!"

A normal new Autobot base and a new Autobot capital are concepts that are completely different.

Sun Cheng was very clear about this, and he was even clearer that other Decepticons would likely react even more intensely than he did after learning of this matter.

"This is sounding the horn of war once again!"

Countless thoughts flashed through his mind in an instant. Looking at Drift, who was standing quietly to the side waiting for his reply, Sun Cheng did not think much further and responded in a deep voice.

"Please tell Leader Optimus Prime that we will definitely arrive on time!"

Sun Cheng roughly guessed the purpose of Optimus Prime's invitation; his thoughts were likely similar to his own.

It was nothing more than further strengthening the cooperation between each other and binding one another to their own war chariots.

Sun Cheng did not resent forming an alliance with the Autobots, and he also knew why Optimus Prime wanted to do this.

After the Second Cybertronian Civil War ended, following the fall of the Autobot capital Iacon to the Decepticons, a large number of Autobots were killed in battle, and a portion retreated to the satellites of Cybertron to wait for an opportunity to counterattack. Only a very small number of Autobots remained on the entire planet of Cybertron, still resisting the Decepticons in the manner of guerrillas.

The victory of the Decepticon Legion made the prestige of Megatron and Shockwave unrivaled for a time, and as the losing side, the situation on the Autobot side could be imagined.

Optimus Prime, this new Leader who was entrusted with the task at a critical moment but failed to turn the tide, became the target for blame from the Autobot high command and the majority of civilians.

After all, the Frenzy that Sun Cheng possessed was from the Cassette Corps, so he still knew some intelligence about the Autobot side.

Optimus Prime's current situation was only slightly better than his own.

After all, although he was ostracized by the Autobot Council and the majority of Autobot civilians who had been incited by them.

But no matter what, Optimus Prime was the successor personally chosen by Sentinel Prime, and he had served as a high-level Commander for a long time during the civil war, leading many victorious battles against the Decepticons. He also had a group of followers within the Autobots, though their numbers were relatively small.

Previously, Sun Cheng had already used the lives of Soundwave and Astrotrain, two heavyweight figures in the Decepticon Legion, to prove to Optimus Prime and the others that he had severed ties with the Decepticon Legion.

In a sense, it was indeed possible that Optimus Prime had, after that, come to see Sun Cheng as an ally who could be won over.

After all, they both had a common enemy—the Decepticon Legion!

Drift seemed a bit surprised by Sun Cheng's decision, but he did not show it too obviously.

However, Sun Cheng and his few subordinates all felt that this Triple Changer from the Autobot faction became more intimate in his attitude after receiving a positive reply from him.

"The inauguration ceremony for New Iacon will be held in five days. This is the precise coordinate for New Iacon. Leader Optimus Prime is very much looking forward to the arrival of you, Lord Frenzy..."
