Chapter 772: Megatron and Starscream
On the Dark Side of the Moon, inside the Nemesis ship.
Starscream was fawning obsequiously before Megatron, who was reduced to nothing but a head, sycophantically explaining the battle that had occurred on the Dark Side of the Moon not long ago to this Tyrant in detail.
"Oh, so Sentinel Prime has already been taken away by the Autobots?"
Megatron's voice was cold and gloomy; a flash of mockery crossed Starscream's bowed face, but it vanished the moment he looked up again.
"Yes, Master. Everything is proceeding according to your grand plan. It won't be long before the Autobots fall into chaos on their own, even if we don't lift a finger."
Megatron let out a cold snort. Sentinel Prime was of noble birth and had been elected King by the Prime Dynasty during the era of the Council of Ancients, serving for a time as the nominal supreme commander of the planet Cybertron.
This could be called his glory, but it could also be called Sentinel Prime's greatest shortcoming.
His noble background, combined with his experiences during the era of the Council of Ancients, had fostered an arrogant, high-and-mighty personality in Sentinel Prime, while also leaving him with little trust for the vast majority of Autobots other than himself.
This was evident from the series of high-pressure policies he enacted against the Autobots during his rule.
A large number of Autobots were imprisoned, exiled to alien colonies, or executed for resisting Sentinel Prime, and many were even forced to join their mortal enemy—the Decepticon Legion.
The high-pressure rule of the Sentinel Prime era could be glimpsed from this.
"That conceited and arrogant King of ours is forever high and mighty; even the Autobots are nothing but pawns in his eyes, to be discarded at any time. In his eyes, there is only the supremacy of royal power and his own sacred, inviolable self. Other than that, there is nothing that cannot be abandoned!"
While mocking Sentinel Prime, Megatron could not help but recall the past, when that King, who hated him to the bone, suddenly took the initiative to send him an invitation and, with great confidence, came alone to propose a partnership.
Even though much time had passed, whenever he recalled this scene, even the cold and ruthless Megatron could not help but feel a chill at Sentinel Prime's courage and coldness.
He was a King and monarch who was truly selfish and viewed himself as the center of the world.
He always determined the fates of others according to his own will, yet he did not allow others to influence him, not even in the slightest thought.
There is a warning born on Earth that is equally applicable throughout the entire universe.
The person who understands you best is often not your relative or friend, but your rival and enemy.
Starscream's characteristic shrill voice made his sycophantic laughter sound more like a blatant mockery.
"Yes, Master. Although we have only dealt with the Autobots' new Leader—Optimus Prime—for a hundred years, his personality makes it impossible for him to sit idly by and watch Sentinel Prime cooperate with us. Once exposed, Sentinel Prime will face a desperate situation, and the Autobots will completely abandon this great King of Primus!"
Megatron snorted. Just as Sentinel Prime had always regarded him as a slave who only knew how to scheme in the shadows, he also looked down upon Optimus Prime, the new Autobot Leader who was said to have been targeted by the corrupt nobles and politicians of the Autobot Council until he was forced into exile.
However, he was better than Sentinel Prime in one respect: Megatron would learn from his mistakes after suffering a loss, rather than being truly unmanageable.
At the very least, Optimus Prime's status in his heart was now much higher than it had been during the Battle of Las Vegas.
Starscream did not know what he was thinking and asked with a fawning smile: "Master, do you need me to detonate this bomb?"
"No need!"
Megatron interrupted his suggestion with a resolute tone.
In his current state, before Shockwave arrived, many plans had to rely on Starscream to be executed.
Although Megatron had left behind some hidden assets on Earth, he was confident that he could return in a few years even if Starscream suddenly betrayed him now.
But those were only hidden assets, and if possible, Megatron hoped he would never have to use them.
That was why he had selectively informed Starscream of a portion of his agreement with Sentinel Prime.
However, Starscream did not know everything; at least, Megatron had not told him about his original intention to use Sentinel Prime's hand to deal with his teacher—The Fallen—who had been hiding behind the scenes and manipulating his fate for millions of years.
Starscream currently only knew that Sentinel Prime had traded the entire Autobot faction for the future position of the supreme commander of the planet Cybertron, which would remain supreme.
The reason Megatron agreed also included an important additional condition: Sentinel Prime would use Space Bridge technology—which only a few top Scientists had mastered even at the peak of Cybertronian civilization—to span a distance of four light-years and open a direct channel to the planet Cybertron on Earth.
Starscream naturally understood how important this channel was to the planet Cybertron.
The Cybertronian Civil War, which had lasted for millions of years, and the warmongering of the Decepticons and Autobots had long since exhausted nearly all the resources of their home planet, Cybertron.
Even within a radius of tens of billions of kilometers centered on the planet Cybertron, all the extractable resources on all planets and moons had been almost completely mined during the war.
If they wanted to save the dying planet Cybertron and the Decepticon Legion, they needed to plunder resources and even populations from other planets to nourish Cybertron.
The resource-rich Solar System was clearly a fantastic choice.
Moreover, the Solar System also nurtured the life-bearing planet Earth, which had billions of humans. In the eyes of the Decepticons and even Sentinel Prime, there were no better cheap slaves than the people of Earth.
This was also the reason why Megatron was in no hurry to stab Sentinel Prime in the back!
As power-hungry figures, both he and Sentinel Prime knew that sooner or later, either Megatron would be unable to resist acting, or Sentinel Prime would strike first; one side would eventually tear up the agreement.
But Megatron was not in a hurry for the time being; he hoped to at least see Sentinel Prime set up the Space Bridge to the planet Cybertron before dealing with this disgusting, hypocritical King.
To prevent Starscream, that treacherous turncoat, from ruining his plans, Megatron decided to give him something to do.
He abruptly shifted the topic to other matters and asked: "How much longer until my New Body is ready? And has Soundwave been found? I need him to monitor Sentinel Prime for me!"
"Master, your body requires too many rare materials, many of which do not exist on Earth or the Moon. I have already arranged for personnel to go to the Asteroid Belt to collect them. I believe your New Body will be completed in a year at most!"
As for Soundwave, whom Megatron trusted more, he sold out his former 'ally' without hesitation.
"Intelligence indicates that a few months ago, before Soundwave disappeared, he went to an island on Earth called 'Trindade', and there has been no news since. According to my investigation, Frenzy, who betrayed the Cassette Corps, has appeared on the island many times, and the Decepticons investigating even saw Autobots on the island!"
"So I suspect that Soundwave has likely been besieged by the combined forces of Frenzy and the Autobots and has met his end!"
As soon as these words were spoken, an angry roar immediately resounded through the Nemesis ship.
