Chapter 79

Although Las Vegas is only a new city in the United States that developed after World War II, due to its unique background, this city has been filled with gangs and thugs since its inception. Because of constant murders, feuds, and gang disturbances, the Nevada state government ordered a National Guard unit to be stationed in the suburbs of Las Vegas as early as the 1950s to suppress the chaos. The 119th Attack Helicopter Regiment and the 30th Space Wing of the Air Force that Sun Cheng had previously scouted were temporarily stationed at the base of that National Guard unit after being transferred to Las Vegas.

After learning intelligence about the 【AllSpark】 from the Newborn Decepticon that was accidentally captured and transformed by the 【AllSpark】, Sun Cheng quickly left the city and flew toward that National Guard base in the desert southwest of Las Vegas.

Not long ago, in order to invade Sector 7, he had launched a round of long-range shelling against this place. Although he believed in his own strength, Sun Cheng did not let his guard down because of it.

The 119th Attack Helicopter Regiment from the National Guard was one thing; according to his previous reconnaissance, because this unit was being adjusted within the state, it had almost completely moved into Las Vegas before being attacked.

However, it was hard to say for the United States Air Force 30th Space Wing, which was ordered to be transferred here together. Air Force combat aircraft have higher requirements for facilities than helicopters. During his previous investigation, he only heard that a squadron subordinate to the 30th Aviation Wing had moved into Las Vegas, while the rest were temporarily placed at another larger military base nearby.

According to the intelligence Sun Cheng viewed by hacking into the national defense intranet, it was originally one of the test sites selected by the U. S. government in Nevada for nuclear testing.

After later adjustments, it was converted by the Ministry of National Defense into a research and testing ground for new types of aircraft. The U. S. military not only attracted technical personnel from across the country to research more advanced military weapons here, but also, most of the advanced aircraft and missiles developed by U. S. aerospace giants like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon were first secretly tested here.

Because of this, Area 51 should be one of the most heavily guarded military bases in the United States. From ground radar stations to underground sensors to the dense anti-missile systems deployed in the surrounding area, everything proves the importance the U. S. military attaches to this place.

This is also something Sun Cheng is quite worried about!

Judging from the previous conflicts, the Autobots have somehow teamed up with the Americans. If the 【AllSpark】 has really been sent to Area 51, with its heavy defenses and the Autobots helping to contain Megatron, Blackout, and Brawl, even if they joined forces to launch a strong attack, it is not certain they would gain any advantage.

While troubled, several pillars of smoke appeared faintly. After Sun Cheng carefully distinguished that the location of the dying smoke was indeed the National Guard base he was going to, he quickly threw those complicated thoughts to the back of his mind and flew toward it.

Looking down from an altitude of ten thousand meters, human traces on the ground were faint, running and crawling like ants.

Sun Cheng did not capture any electromagnetic waves emitted by radar, and he was lost in thought.

It seems that before entering Sector 7, the surprise attack by Brawl had an extraordinary effect; I am afraid that most of the forces originally stationed at this base have been destroyed.

He was just about to lower his altitude when he suddenly felt his chassis being brushed by a wave, and then his Core felt as if it had been locked onto by something.

Sun Cheng reacted quickly, knowing that he had been locked onto by a Mechanical Life, and hurriedly circled in the high altitude, carefully staying on guard.

About thirty or forty seconds later, accompanied by a sonic boom cloud in the distance, an aircraft with a shape different from any aircraft on Earth, and obviously much larger, appeared within Sun Cheng's Core scanning range.

"Megatron..."

Sun Cheng breathed a slight sigh of relief, but immediately felt his anxiety rise again.

"Now, tell me, where is the 【AllSpark】?"

Appearing beside him almost the next second, Megatron circled around him, his low voice still carrying lingering ferocity.

"Lord Megatron, the 【AllSpark】 should have been taken by the humans to this base. I was just entangled by a team of human fighter jets, and I only found my way here after ending the battle!"

He answered with some unease. The humans did not know what methods they used; from just now, Sun Cheng had been unable to capture the fluctuations of the 【AllSpark】.

Clearly, he was very worried that this answer would not satisfy Megatron.

However, what surprised him was that after hearing the answer, Megatron didn't mention anything at all and dived straight down. When he was more than ten meters from the ground, he suddenly changed back to his human form and landed, and then dense explosions soon rang out on the ground.

Seeing this, Sun Cheng assumed he was blinded by the 【AllSpark】, so he followed and descended to the ground as well.

Just as he landed, he was greeted by a barrage of shells.

These shells were naturally not fired at him; it was just that Sun Cheng's landing spot was wrong.

After a hurried forward dive and roll to dodge a shell that was about to land near his landing spot, Sun Cheng followed the trajectory of the shells and soon found several M60 Tank series vehicles hundreds of meters away.

"National Guard..."

The regular U. S. military had long ago phased out these second-generation tanks and started equipping the newer M1 Tank series. Anything like this that can still be seen in use domestically must be the National Guard.

He tried to summon his Vulcan Cannon, raised it, and fired a round at an M60 Tank hundreds of meters away. The whistling energy bullets bombarded the armor of that M60 Tank, making low, explosive sounds. It took three full rounds of shooting before he saw that tank burst apart in a flash of fire.

"This efficiency..."

Although the power of the Vulcan Cannon enhanced by the 【AllSpark】 was already impressive, Sun Cheng looked at Megatron, who had just glanced from afar and casually fired a shot to shatter an M60 Tank as well. He was originally quite satisfied with his new weapon, but suddenly felt it was not worth looking at.
