Chapter 802: The Vanguard Arrives

~7 min read 1,299 words

Without bringing any subordinates, Sun Cheng transformed into his fighter jet mode after exiting the Base and flew along the precise coordinates provided by the Base toward the canyon wall inscribed with Elder Script that the reconnaissance squad had previously discovered.

He flew very fast, and not long after, he arrived at that canyon.

While still nearly a kilometer away from the canyon wall engraved with the Elder Script, Sun Cheng used his superior vision to clearly see the characters on the wall, which were exactly the same as the ones Prometheus had shown him earlier.

He did not rush to land, but instead activated his detection functions to their full capacity, emitting waves of electromagnetic pulses to scan the area around the canyon wall.

Soon, Sun Cheng noticed something strange about the canyon wall.

Hidden somewhere beneath the wall was a massive opening, which led into a deep, dark cavern below.

The interior of the cavern seemed to be coated with something capable of insulating or shielding against electromagnetic waves, so much so that the electromagnetic pulses Sun Cheng emitted could only probe about a dozen meters into the cavern before failing to receive any signals from deeper within.

"Troublesome!"

Landing in front of the canyon wall, Sun Cheng walked straight to the entrance.

Long ago, this entrance had been blocked by a massive meteorite by ancient Cybertronians who were hunting Maximus.

After countless years of wind, sand, and accumulation, the meteorite had fused tightly with the canyon wall, appearing as if it were all one piece.

He had come this time to verify a few things; it would have been even better if he could have obtained some intelligence from inside the Laboratory.

However, since electromagnetic waves could not detect the situation inside the cavern, Sun Cheng did not linger. He took some materials from his Spherical Space, spent some time cordoning off an area within a few hundred meters, posted a warning in his own name, and then returned to Mars Base One.

As soon as he returned to the Base, he input the warning information regarding the Laboratory into the Central Main Control Intelligence, ordering it to broadcast this information to all Decepticons on Mars to prevent anyone unaware from intruding or accidentally disturbing any dangerous things that might still exist inside the Laboratory.

Afterward, Sun Cheng stayed on Mars for another two days.

He personally inspected all the underground mining sites and buildings within the vicinity of Mars Base One and recorded the supplies urgently needed here.

Then, after spending half a day in a lounge, Sun Cheng returned to the real world.

Taking advantage of the time disparity between the two worlds, he stayed in the real world for a month and a half, purchasing 72,000 tons of coal, 340,000 barrels of oil, and various other supplies.

As Sun Cheng's industries in the real world were getting on the right track, and given that the distance between Earth and Mars in the 【Transformers Universe】 was too vast.

Purchasing supplies directly from the real world to replenish the Mars Base had become his best option.

After realizing this, Sun Cheng stopped restricting the supply of Energy Liquid to the Spherical Space within his body; the area of the Spherical Space inside him was still constantly expanding and could now hold more and more supplies.

This batch of supplies purchased from the real world was enough for the Mars Base to use for a while.

However, the fact that no coal or other fossil fuels had been discovered on Mars was indeed a major problem!

Moreover, water resources on Mars were relatively scarce; although they could be synthesized through certain chemical means and the temperature difference on Mars, the cost was undoubtedly much higher than obtaining it freely on Earth.

Fortunately, the reconnaissance satellites controlled by the Decepticons had already discovered ice caps at the poles of Mars and in some other regions.

Although the nearest ice cap was over 700 kilometers away from Mars Base One, and the coverage area detected by the satellite was only 1.52 square kilometers.

However, Decepticon Engineers suspected that there might be an underground lake there, so the problem of water on Mars would eventually be solved locally.

After replenishing the Mars Base with a batch of supplies from the real world.

Sun Cheng did not stay on Mars any longer and soon chose to return.

What he did not know was that almost the very next day after his ship departed from Mars.

Near Pluto, a group of 'meteorites' used Pluto's orbit to escape, gained acceleration once more, adjusted their flight trajectory slightly, and were continuously approaching the center of the Solar System—the Sun.

At about the same time, on the Dark Side of the Moon, inside a sentry bunker near the Decepticon Base.

Onslaught looked at Starscream, who was visiting again, with a look of displeasure on his face.

He did not like dealing with Starscream; although he prided himself on superior intelligence, he could not help but acknowledge that Starscream was an existence who was calculating everything around him at every moment.

Onslaught did not know when he might fall into the other's schemes; his previous agreement to cooperate with Starscream to develop the Combaticons was a concession he had to make after being discovered and cornered by him.

After all, he currently only possessed Quasi-Leader Level combat power; although he had one foot across the threshold, he had not yet fully completed the transformation.

At this time, if Starscream were truly determined to gather his clone warriors to target Onslaught, he still had a chance of falling.

After a long stalemate, Onslaught finally took the initiative to break the silent atmosphere.

"I know why you're here. Besides Brawl, I have cultivated Blast Off and Vortex again. It's just that their bodies are made from the remains of those two Autobots you sent earlier, and they require a large amount of adjustment... Conservatively estimated, it will take another month for them to wake up..."

He paused, "As for Swindle, because he is being cultivated from the very basics, it will take at least another half a year."

Starscream obtained the information he wanted to know, but he was not satisfied.

"One month, I will give you at most one more month!"

"Impossible!" Onslaught interrupted him unhappily, "One month? Do you think you're cultivating your clone warriors? My Combaticons are all elites!"

Starscream sneered and reached out to point at the space in front of him; instantly, an image appeared.

In the boundless universe, dozens of meteorites were lined up like a neat formation, easily smashing through the tiny celestial bodies blocking their path.

Onslaught naturally recognized at a glance that these were Cybertronians in transit; the only thing he could not be sure of was whether they were Decepticons or Autobots.

He frowned and asked, "Is this Shockwave's vanguard?"

Starscream gave a cold hum, which served as his answer.

Onslaught's brow furrowed tightly, and after a moment of silence, he said, "Three months, I guarantee the entire Combaticon team will be assembled within three months!"

Shockwave was the second Leader-class Warrior of the Decepticon Legion, second only to the commander, Megatron.

He was loyal to Megatron and, because of this, had gained his near-absolute trust, long serving as the Military Commander of the Decepticon Legion.

Because of the torture he had suffered during the days of the Cybertronian Elder Council, the emotions that should belong to a living being had been almost entirely erased from Shockwave's personality; his logic always outweighed his desires, and he was a commander who only considered things from the perspective of Megatron and the Decepticon Legion.

Facing him, both Onslaught and Starscream could not help but feel intimidated.
