Chapter 886: A Tiger's Head and a Snake's Tail (Part 1)
Just as Sun Cheng easily dodged the incoming Sonic Stun Gun, Onslaught also effortlessly dodged his Plasma Hand Cannon fire.
In an instant, Sun Cheng realized that his plan to end the battle quickly by relying on the advantage of Energy Weapons had fallen through.
Onslaught clearly realized this as well; as the two hulking figures quickly closed the distance, they tacitly put away their respective Energy Weapons.
When the two angry and irritable combat machines collided, what appeared in their hands were two Alloy Greatswords—different in appearance, yet highly practical.
"Boom!"
The greatswords collided violently, and Sun Cheng took a step back.
In a contest of strength against Onslaught, his New Body—or rather, he, who could not yet fully unleash the full potential of this body—was a step behind.
Onslaught sneered as he brandished his greatsword, taking advantage of his position to slash at Sun Cheng's shoulder, while relentlessly taunting: "Is this the confidence you have to dare defy me?"
Sun Cheng raised his Long Sword, narrowly blocking the slash.
He did not retort, instead throwing himself heart and soul into the battle.
Onslaught's strength was worse than he had anticipated, at most only a fraction stronger than his current self.
Even if Onslaught could temporarily suppress him by relying on more extensive combat experience, it would not be a simple matter for him to kill Sun Cheng.
"Just the thing to hone myself!"
Distracted, he swept a glance at the surrounding battlefield, then Sun Cheng withdrew his focus and threw himself entirely into the fight with Onslaught.
He was not worried about the surrounding battlefield.
His side had two Elite Warriors, Thundercracker and Frenzy, as well as over twenty Advanced Warriors.
Although the four members of Onslaught's Combaticons were quite capable, it would not be easy for them to secure a victory.
Especially Thundercracker, who had inherited most of Blackout's combat experience and techniques, and was now locked in a struggle with Brawl, the fastest charger of the Combaticons.
As Sun Cheng's number one general, Thundercracker, who had received a significant allocation of resources, was not the least bit afraid of facing Brawl.
The battle between the two Decepticons quickly turned into a close-quarters brawl just like the one between Sun Cheng and Onslaught, and Thundercracker's strength was not a whit weaker than Brawl's; meanwhile, his combat methods were far more numerous than Brawl's, and he would surely gain the upper hand soon.
After throwing himself fully into the fight with Onslaught, Sun Cheng felt much less pressure, though he remained firmly suppressed by Onslaught.
"Boom!"
The two Alloy Greatswords slashed together again; as Onslaught used his superior strength to knock Sun Cheng back, he suddenly kicked out.
Sun Cheng could not dodge in time and was kicked six or seven meters away.
Fortunately, the moment he landed, he rolled to the side.
"Screech!"
Where he had just fallen, Onslaught's greatsword plunged straight into the deep soil.
Sun Cheng scrambled up quickly, raised his right arm, and fired four small Combat Missiles at Onslaught, forcing him to turn and dodge.
He lunged off the ground and slashed at Onslaught with his Long Sword.
Onslaught stepped quickly to pull his greatsword free, mud still clearly visible on the blade.
Yet he did not care in the slightest; gripping it tight, he closed in and engaged Sun Cheng in battle once more.
Sparks flew from the collision of their two weapons, and although he was in a sorry state, Sun Cheng had only sustained a dozen or so wounds from Onslaught, none of them serious.
"It seems you can't do much to me either!"
Having gradually grown accustomed to Onslaught's strength, Sun Cheng suddenly exerted force to break free from Onslaught's suppression of his weapon and began to talk trash.
Onslaught angrily slammed his head into Sun Cheng; the violent impact caused him to lose his vision and sense of touch for a few seconds before they recovered.
Onslaught naturally would not let such a good opportunity pass; he grabbed Sun Cheng's arm and thrust his greatsword violently toward his chest.
However, he did not get his wish; having recovered in time, Sun Cheng instantly extended two Combat Missiles from his back and fired them rapidly at Onslaught's head.
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Although they were only two small, low-yield Combat Missiles, the warheads and ammunition had been specially designed by his team of Decepticon Engineers for warriors of Elite level or higher among Decepticons and Autobots.
Hitting Onslaught at close range and exploding, Onslaught let out a miserable cry, his grip on Sun Cheng's arm forced to loosen, and his offensive stalled instantly.
But the two missiles failed to severely wound Onslaught; although the outer armor of his head shattered and began to fall away, that was the extent of it.
Sun Cheng was also hampered by the shockwave of the explosion, and after stumbling back a few steps, he pulled the Plasma Hand Cannon from his back again and fired at Onslaught, who was covering his sparking head with one hand.
Onslaught instinctively raised his greatsword to block; the energy bullet fired by the Plasma Hand Cannon struck the blade of his weapon, and the powerful shockwave from the explosion caused several cracks to appear rapidly on his blade.
At the same time, Onslaught was knocked seven or eight meters away by the impact of the explosion.
Sun Cheng did not let up, and having been suppressed for half the day, he immediately counterattacked.
Sprinting quickly to Onslaught's side, his Long Sword left a long scratch across the opponent's left abdomen.
But Onslaught's reaction was faster than Sun Cheng had expected.
He suddenly reached out and grabbed Sun Cheng's Long Sword, preventing him from pulling the weapon back.
The other fist, which had just been covering his head, was already clenched.
He threw a punch at Sun Cheng's cheek, the heavy blow instantly causing large cracks to appear on his face.
Onslaught did not let up; seeing that Sun Cheng still would not release the Long Sword, he pulled him back in front of himself, slammed his head into him again, and immediately followed up with another punch that smashed hard into his head.
This combination of strikes truly caused Sun Cheng no small amount of damage.
Stumbling back several steps and shaking his head, his vision of Onslaught became somewhat blurred.
Seeing this, Onslaught pulled out his Sonic Stun Gun again and fired a beam of azure light at him.
The electromagnetic energy bullet hit Sun Cheng, causing his body to shiver slightly, but that was all.
His body had undergone multiple anti-electromagnetic Enhancements, so the damage caused to his body by this main weapon of Onslaught's—which posed a huge threat to most Cybertronians—was not even as great as the combination of strikes just now.
"You aren't as strong as I imagined either!"
Gripping his Long Sword tightly, Sun Cheng quickly repaired his body while sneering at Onslaught.
Although he was at a disadvantage, his mood was actually quite good.
He did not know if the attack had used its full strength, but at the very least, he still had a good hand of cards on his side that had not been revealed yet.
For instance, the Soul-Suppressing Spear inside his body, which had been stirred into Awakening by the electromagnetic Energy Bullet fired in the previous attack, was now already beginning to autonomously draw energy from the surrounding space to feed back into Sun Cheng.
