Chapter 894: A Terrifying Idea

~7 min read 1,340 words

More than an hour later, three Golden Eagle Transport Ships landed in an empty area within the Arctic Circle.

Just as when they arrived, Sun Cheng and his group boarded the transport ships again, and under the protection of two Golden Eagle Fighter ships that had already entered the atmosphere, they began to fly toward South America.

Compared to when they arrived, the cabin of the transport ship was much quieter.

In one conflict, eight Advanced Warriors were lost here.

For Sun Cheng and his group, this was a crushing defeat they had not encountered in a long time.

"Onslaught... another Giant Combiner..."

Sun Cheng clenched his fists irritably, his mood extremely poor.

The return of Onslaught was, for him, only the beginning.

According to known intelligence, Shockwave, who was leading a portion of the main Decepticon Legion, was already about to arrive in the Solar System.

And not long ago, the Autobots seemed to have awakened that former Leader who was extremely hostile toward the Decepticons—Sentinel Prime.

Even in the Arctic region on Earth, some evidence suspected to be from the Quintessons having reached this planet had been discovered.

"This world is becoming more and more unfamiliar!"

After worrying for a long time, Sun Cheng simply closed his eyes, leaned back in the transport ship, and began to think.

Having been at the center of the explosion of several Electromagnetic Pulse Bombs just now, his body was severely damaged, and electric sparks could be seen jumping from time to time.

Giant Combiners were one of the few difficult problems they could not solve at the current stage; although these war monsters were not indestructible, their powerful firepower and terrifying strength meant that before their internal energy was exhausted, even Leader-class Warriors had to avoid their edge when facing them.

It was foreseeable that with the return of Onslaught, even more tragic battles and even war would follow.

Sun Cheng lacked high-end combat power, and his foundation could not be considered very deep; after all, it was a force that had been established for less than three years.

If it weren't for the Decepticons looking down on Earth and the Autobots being too self-important, it would not have been Sun Cheng's turn to be the first to stake out a piece of land on Earth and develop it.

But although he had gained the first-mover advantage, the deep foundations of either the Decepticon Legion or the Autobots were not something that could be caught up to in just a few short years.

When Megatron returned again, or after Shockwave arrived in the Solar System, the force he had worked so hard to build would likely be completely destroyed in a short time.

"I must start preparing for war!"

Base No. 2 needed to start mobilizing, and the Mars Base also needed to be reinforced with a few more supply runs; to prevent a destructive strike on Earth in the future, more personnel had to be transported to Mars in advance.

Besides that, Sun Cheng felt he should try to win over the Autobots again.

Sentinel Prime seemed to have been awakened, because starting a few months ago, his contact with the Autobots had almost been cut off.

Originally, Sun Cheng had reached an intelligence-sharing agreement with Optimus Prime, as well as limited cooperation in other areas.

However, these had fallen into stagnation over the past few months; cooperation in other areas had completely ceased, and even the intelligence regarding the Decepticons that the two sides often exchanged had been cut off for several months.

Sun Cheng, for his part, had been punctually passing the latest intelligence collected on the Decepticons, including information on active Decepticons they monitored on Earth, to New Iacon.

But New Iacon had never given any response at all.

This was not good news; his experiences in this world over the past few years meant Sun Cheng was no longer the newly minted college student who knew nothing about politics.

He knew there was only one possibility for the change in the Autobots' attitude: Sentinel Prime, who had been rescued from the Moon by the Autobots, had been awakened.

Optimus Prime possessed the Matrix of Leadership, which even Sun Cheng coveted; even if Sentinel Prime were dead, using this sacred object to reawaken him would not be difficult.

Moreover, this Prime was the teacher of the current Autobot Leader—Optimus Prime.

Sun Cheng knew that even though he had reminded and hinted to Optimus Prime several times that his teacher, Sentinel Prime, might very well have something suspicious going on with Megatron.

But hindered by his own Decepticon identity in this world, how much that young Autobot Leader could take in remained an unknown.

Sun Cheng believed that next, he needed to clarify one thing as soon as possible, and that was who was actually in charge of New Iacon now.

Sentinel Prime was an ambitious man who valued power very highly; this could be seen just from his past experiences.

Born into the Primus Clan, Sentinel Prime had accepted the support of the Council of Ancients to ascend to the throne for the sake of the kingship.

Later, in order to eliminate the Council of Ancients that had attempted to hollow him out and treat him as a puppet, he had single-handedly supported the rise of Megatron and his Decepticon Legion.

And when the Council of Ancients was completely overthrown and Sentinel Prime became the supreme King of Cybertron, he subsequently turned his guns on Megatron.

Unfortunately, Sentinel Prime had underestimated the gladiator slave he had always looked down upon—Megatron.

The equally ambitious Megatron naturally knew that after the Council of Ancients was overthrown, Sentinel Prime—who had single-handedly transformed him from a lowly gladiator slave into a hero who resisted the nobles and supported him in controlling the military power of Cybertron—would be looking to eliminate him next.

With his wings fully grown, Megatron turned his guns on his former benefactor before Sentinel Prime could make a move against him.

After that, it was the lasting civil war between the Autobots and the Decepticon Legion that had continued for millions of years.

Sentinel Prime's hostility toward the Decepticons was rooted precisely in Megatron's betrayal.

It would be more appropriate to call him a hegemon than a king.

He could ignore his own betrayal of any Cybertronian, yet he could not accept others betraying him.

From all the intelligence he had collected on Sentinel Prime, Sun Cheng analyzed his intense desire for control over power.

Therefore, he felt that once Sentinel Prime was awakened by Optimus Prime, the position of Leader of that New Iacon in Africa would inevitably cause a dispute between the two.

Even if Optimus Prime were willing to give up power, his subordinates would likely not be willing.

Do not think that Sentinel Prime's reputation and prestige within the Autobots were very high; his brutal suppression of the pacifist faction within the Autobots during the civil war, as well as his sudden resignation at the end of the civil war, were seen by some Autobots as nothing but acts of shirking responsibility.

Sun Cheng had once read the Memory Chip of Jazz, Optimus Prime's former adjutant; he, along with Ironhide and a group of Optimus Prime's die-hard supporters, were almost all unimpressed by Sentinel Prime.

Combined with the temporary attitude from New Iacon, he gradually had some thoughts in his mind.

"... If Sentinel Prime successfully gains control of New Iacon, then given his hostility toward the Decepticons, I fear the first thing he would do is deal with me, who is also on Earth..."

"So, there is a high probability that at New Iacon, the teacher-student pair of Sentinel Prime and Optimus Prime are still in a stalemate..."

The more he thought about it, the more possible it seemed, and Sun Cheng continued to think deeper along this line of reasoning.

Suddenly, a terrifying idea popped into his mind.

"Why don't I try to pull Optimus Prime and the Autobots into the same camp?"
